A lot of people forget to update their teams 'cause they're busy and there's more games, then they give up. I lost interest over Christmas last year but got back into it and ended up ranked in the top 5k. Right now i'm not even in the top million.

I don't think so. You're almost certain to get at least 1-2 points from the bench (potentially more) and I can't see Cabaye getting 5-6, nor being worth longer term investment.

I don't have Simpson currently and I am also deciding between Kompany and Sinclair. Given Arsenal's attacking form lately, I doubt we'll see a clean sheet from MCI, and Kompany will probably have fewer chances/less energy to spend on offense. There is a decent chance he could give up two goals, and a yellow card is also a fairly strong possibility.
On the other hand, Sinclair has done virtually nothing from a fantasy perspective away from home and Newcastle could have Coloccini back to shore up their defense.
Right now I am also benching Kompany.
