The fixtures have had a good frisking and, ahead of Gameweek 23, our Watchlist rankings have been updated accordingly alongside this new data. Our mid-term choices over the next run of games can be found on your right hand toolbar – follow through for a quick round-up of the notable movers and shakers…

Goalkeepers

Baby steps are taken by the men between the sticks. Strong forthcoming fixtures promoted Joe Hart (money to spare) and Paddy Kenny (on a budget) to second and third place behind Tim Krul – we’re putting that five goal concession down as an aberration.

Following five starts in Manchester United’s last six Premier League fixtures, it’s hard to look beyond Anders Lindegaard given his tantalisingly low price. While the rotation fears ease in the United goal, they’ve escalated down at the Britannia. Thomas Sorensen drops in our rankings, below his Old Trafford compatriot, with a return for Asmir Begovic in the Stoke goal looking a very real possibility following Saturday’s events against West Brom.

Defenders

Following the completion of his four-match suspension, Vincent Kompany will return to the Man City fold next gameweek and finds himself back on top of the rankings without a moment’s hesitation. His upcoming schedule, coupled with greater starting role security, has him usurp the incumbent Micah Richards from our chart.

Goal threat from the back pushes Phil Bardsley up the rankings, as Sunderland’s rejuvenated defence becomes an investment prospect. The triumvirate of Jonny Evans, Ciaran Clark and Anton Ferdinand also make measured gains to offer a variety of choice at the cheaper end of the scale.

The tried and tested -and heavily owned- group of Ryan Taylor, Jose Enrique and Kyle Walker make the most noticeable of drops with rotation, form and fixtures conspiring to trigger a decline in their ranking.

Midfielders

Our first choice midfielders look hard to dislodge with each of Gareth Bale, Clint Dempsey, David Silva and Stephane Sessegnon battling and shuffling for positon in the top four right now. Antonio Valencia has returned to form to overshadow Nani – if any player will threaten that upper bracket monopoly any time soon then it’s likely to be the Ecuadorian.

James McClean continues to rise with form that belies his price tag, with Hatem Ben Arfa going a few steps better after his splash in an otherwise unsuccessful weekend for Newcastle.

Previous stalwarts, Rafael Van Der Vaart and Scott Sinclair, continue to slip down the rankings, with a heavy reliance on penalties, coupled with under performance from open play. The fixture list isn’t kind to either player over the coming weeks, while team-mates offer alternatives with Bale irresistible and Joe Allen and Gylfi Siggurdsson continuing to impresss.

Fordwards

Robin Van Persie and Sergio Aguero remain understandably firm at the top of the charts. Nipping at their heels, however, is Bobby Zamora, fresh from last week’s Watchlist Article and a barnstorming performance against the Magpies. Fixtures remain in his favour over the month ahead – although Dempsey’s popularity will surely dent his chances of investment.

Daniel Sturridge and Danny Graham take slight dips due to stuttering form and testing fixtures respectively, while Danny Welbeck’s consistent returns for just 6.6, has him jump into the middle of the pack as rotatation fears ease a little. Aston Villa strikers Darren Bent and Robbie Keane also rise due to their impressive form, while Hugo Rodallega sneaks in as a consideration.

Our subscribing members will soon be treated to a “Versus” article from Sir Paulos, which goes some way to explain Edin Dzeko’s return to favour – one Premier League goal since October really doesn’t tell the full story.

Not sure, I think I'd rather have 2 Man City attackers for the upcoming fixtures than 2 defenders. I think there's even an argument for 3.

I'm almost certainly getting Richards/Kompany after this GW though.

I can't decide on the 2 City attackers versus 2 City defenders conundrum either.

I am definitely getting either Kompany/Hart/Both.

Tosey, I see you have doubled up with Hart and Kompany at the back.

However I have also noticed you have neither Silva or Aguero. Will you be getting one in for this run and which one are you plumping for?

I have done the same with having Hart & Kompany in my team. Aguero is the attacker to make the final 3 for me. Not as consistent as Silva but is more explosive and a better differential.

Worth taking 4 points hit to have Valencia instead of Welbeck?
    I don’t have these two.
I have to take 4 points hit to bring Valencia in,but in the other way, I can bring Welbeck without taking any hits.
So, which one would you preferred?

        Vorm Bodgan
        Simspon Caulker Richards Senderos Ekotto
        Sess Walters Bale Dempsey Ferguson
        RVP Rooney Aguero

        Option A(Bring Valencia in):
Rooney to Ranger, Walters to Silva, Ferguson to Valencia
Key: Ranger and Ferguson will swap their job as bench fodder.

        Option B(Bring Welbeck in)
Rooney to Welbeck, Walters to Silva.
Key: No valencia. Avoid hits but Welbeck might be rested in next few matches.

Hi Daniel, can you please look at my comment above?
I got the idea of playing 2 forward and 5 mids instead of 3 forward and 4 mids because most of the midfielders are on fire.
I am happy with Welbeck as MU cover but I just don't like Ferguson in fantasy terms. Not convinced with Welbeck play time so I started to consider taking 4 points hit to bring Valencia in instead of Welbeck.

Need some thoughts on decision on which striker current front 8 is

    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Valencia, Sess
    RVP, Dzeko, Sturridge

Now long term Ba is going to be there and was thinking of doing Sturridge to Welbeck until that point, BUT the main game for Welbeck would probably be home to Stoke, BUT who would I bench for next week then? (I have learned from my benching Bale fiasco last week).

There's only 3 gameweeks until Ba returns and can't really see anyone shouting out for those games. In fairness it's probably only the 2 week afterwards that matter the most (Welbeck will have away to Chelsea, home to Liverpool).

I'd forgot to mention I'm on WC so changing Sturridge to Welbeck doesn't cost.

Sturridge's form before injury was lethal, but feel that him playing right wing vs Welbeck leading the line, means Welbeck is a better option for the difficult games.

The only dilemna then is does Welbeck get benched next week, although should have teamsheets before the deadline which will help on selection headaches.

Sure, Fletcher scored goals against bigger sides but that was all away from home. He hasn't scored a goal at home since gw 14 but good during away games. I'd play him after this weekend when he's away to QPR.

Simpson is okay if you think he can get an assist or a goal but if you're thinking of a cs, that's kinda hard to expect because Newcastle's defense is crap without Tiote.

      B seems a reasonable choice.

why not....looks a good midfield...possibly the perfect midfield for now, packed for of captain material. While the big guns in attack are doing little might as well beef up the midfield. When Rooney-Ageuro come back all guns blazing you can always rejig over a couple of weeks. All are good home and away so no need to take any hits.

From GW24 onwards, would ou take a punt on

Walters (SUN, ful, SWA, NOR) or
    Dzeko (FUL, avl, BLA, BOL)?

Walters would have to be ditched immediately after these 4 GWs, Dzeko could stay much longer (depending on gametime).

Walters. Dzeko still isn't nailed on to play. They could play 4-2-3-1 with Aguero up front.

That's true, it would be a risk. He has started the last 4 PL games (most games in a row this season!) but that could be interpreted as a good sign or a bad sign (on a verge of a rest).

I think Swansea aren't going to be as solid as they were at the start of the season. They have tough home fixtures where they get most of their clean sheets and they don't get many away. I'm having no Swansea defenders.

that price would be a shame. in the two years ive played, it seems fpl keeps the prices on the promoted sides fairly low. 5.5 is pretty steep regardless of class. The QPR effect.

as long as youve had vorm since his cheaper days and lindegaard holds down his spot, it has to be the best value in the game. its the best argument against ignoring how their rotation works out. id probably start vorm against every bottom half team they play at home, and lindegaard for the rest and rely on vorm as a decent fill in should de gea get a start.

Yeah I've had Vorm since he was 4.0 so seems silly / sacrilege to get rid of him now. Might draft Lindy in and take it from there, don't think being wedded to some kind of idealistic rotation is necessarily the best policy...

I don't think they rotate very well, actually. Krul/Lindegaard looks so much better to me. I'll be doubling on Newc/ManU and rotating. Plus Caulker is a bargain £4M option in the Swansea defence.

There are three things going on, as I see it. One is the propensity of mids to score fractionally more heavily. The second are some doubts over Djoko's AND Aguero's form - and Citeh's in general, come to that! The third is that Silva's form seems to be improving a bit.

Not denying that at all, Ginkapo. I'll be having both and getting rid of Aguero when the fixtures turn, most likely.

But Aguero is, in my opinion, so much more of a bully at home to the lesser teams. Just the sort of fixtures that are coming along.

I sold, because I'd rather have Mignolet/Sorenson/Lindegaard than Vorm and they are cheaper.

Innocent till proven guilty, of course.

It doesn't look good, though, does it? The one thing no-one's mentioning is if this normally carries a prison term if found guilty.

    Dempsey at home to westbrom

    or

    Aguero away to everton

note: Dempsey's on form but wba's defence is up there. However, Fulham is at home.
Aguero hasnt got too many returns lately. Facing a good everton defence at home. However, Jags is out and so is Ballotelli. More shots for Kun.

    What say?

Yea, Aguero it is then. I have a feeling Hodgson's medfield is a little more tighter than newcastle's at the moment. I highly doubt Dempsey's ability to score as the third striker when they are being choked for space in the medfield.

Anybody rotating/planning on rotating a cheap mid/cheap striker?
Trying to look at combos around 11 mil.
    So far come up with:

    Moses / Graham
    Siggy / Helguson
    Fletcher / Surman
    Moses / Helguson

Any other decent options out there?

My team value isn't huge, and I'm not having much problem getting a cheap mid (5.0 ish) with a midprice striker (7.0 ish), and still having a semi decent defence.

Going as cheap as you are on 2 forwards leaves a lot of cash spent at the back.

They do but you'll just be playing Helgi most weeks in the short term, so might as well have Dyer as he's cheaper.

i think dyer's price and proven "haulability" is solid enough to go with instead of sigurdsson. dyer/helguson looks like the best cheap combo to me.

    Krul, (Vorm)
Richards, Simpson, Enrique, (Shotton), (Taylor (SW))
Valencia, Silva, Bale, Dempsey (VC), (Walters)
    Ade, Best, RVP (C)

I have one free transfer and 2.3 mil. in the bank.

I thought I leave it for another week, what do you think?

      Assou-Ekotto

I'd be tempted by a punt on a starter from the Tuesday games when we know the line-ups and benching Best or taking Best out for Welbeck.

Tottenham have some very though fixtures after Wigan and would strugle to get them Assou-Ekotto and Ade out.

Best is my differential hope, as NEW fixtures are very good and they normally produce goals no matter who is in the strike force.

I had a second thought on Zamora, but I already have Dempsey, so there is no real need to double up...

I'm not sure on Enrique, as Liverpools play is very inconsistant he could easily turn out with 2 or 9 points.

You should know that it may have no effect on the fixtures at all. For convenience of fixtures though it'd be best FPL-wise that Liverpool won. Then trebling on City would be golden and Liverpool could get their asses wooped by Cardiff 🙂
