With yesterday’s results overshadowed by the now infamous non-handshake at Old Trafford, the Dugout Discussion opens today for what will hopefully be a controversy-free day of football. Having been displaced at the summit of the Premier League, Manchester City travel to Aston Villa where a draw will see them climb back to the top. Before that we have a Black Country derby to enjoy, as Wolves aim to drag their rivals West Brom in to the relegation scrap, and the Baggies try to increase their breathing space from it. Mick McCarthy names an attacking side which features a trio of strikers in Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle and Steven Fletcher. For the visitor’s, Liam Ridgewell makes his debut for West Brom at the expense of Nicky Shorey, and Paul Scharner starts ahead of Graeme Dorrans.

    Bad luck to anyone who had Richards or Dzeko...Someone on here told me I was a complete fool to think Richards wasn't nailed on if fit, fair enough if he isn't fit today but I think the rotation risk realistically is far too strong to have anyone but Kompany when they're all fit. I have Lescott at the minute but may get worried when Toure gets back. Here's hoping Silva gets a few assists and some BP's today to boost the overall score!

      I grew up in the late 80s / early 90s with a begrudging but deep-seated respect for Liverpool, their fans, players, managers... everything they stood for. Suarez and Dalglish have practically destroyed that, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

    My tactic of doubling up on man city players since gw 24 only seems to be half working.
    Last week Kompany was injured, this week Richards out.
    It's amazing how with this fpl stuff can collapse all around you in a couple of weeks.

    New-ish topic: does anyone here know of a site that allows for managers to draft their teams so each squad is unique?  I am struck by how at this time of the season h2h matches boil down to two or three players and one is left rooting against your own squad if your oppt has captained a player you have not.  I get the concept of differentials but just imagine if your entire squad was a differential based on threads and conversations from FFS, your own analysis, instinct/gut moves, personal binkys who never actually produce loads of points (Ashley Young was mine for years because he was just cool to watch storming the ramparts down the wing), booze-fueled moves on a Friday night, and the like.  You could trade players, pick up free agents in a waiver process, 10 teams in a mini league would take up the top 150 players and push us to really assemble our squads, plus make the captain selection massive every week (or that much easier if you are the one with RVP)...

    Maybe I am being very American here (I will shake hands and apologize for that comment later) but with US fantasy sports most sites are set up this way.  The FPL values could be used as a frame of reference if a salary cap was to be enforced, i.e. your draft of players would have to fit within the cap so you might take a cheap player you like before but I am wondering if FPL would not want this because it might reduce traffic on its own site.  Or maybe they feel the market approach is more popular for users?  Pardon the rambling but just wondering if people knew of any sites like this out there.

        Having self identified, I am aware that it is NBA/NFL/MLB of me. Are there any sites where each manager drafts a team from a pool of players? No player would be chosen by the same team, hence every h2h matchup would be composed of entirely different players.

      US Sports - (NFL I think you are referring to?, where it's each player is unique) are very different to Football.

      You'd have to arrange that yourself with 9 others if you'd want a differential league.

      I understand what you're saying, but I can see many losing interest...

      Thats actually how fantasy football started, im thinking back to the days of skinner and baddiel. I was in a league with 10 others and we basically auctioned off the players if multiple teams wanted him so they ended up only being owned by one manager. Would be mighty difficult to run now given its popularity.

      I'd rather have a draft style approach if playing with 9 other buddies for sho

      Last season my pals and I did a 3 players are "owned" rule, had to be designated before hand. I had Tevez, Nani and Bale to his Carroll, Rooney and Lampard

      worked OK but got way nutty when it was justified dropping Lampard or Bale last season, def would like to find a way to run a draft league with ease
