I hate double Gameweeks. So often false dawns for Fantasy managers, they can promise so much and deliver so little leaving you frustrated and left to clear the ugly remnants of some hurried squad surgery. Then again – the announcement of the latest slew of doubles may just have left the door ajar for me to close the mini-league gap on Mark. Our host was certainly wriggling uncomfortably in his chair during today’s recording, pondering the damage that the Gameweek 34 blanks could inflict and the surge in points that Gameweeks 35 and 36 could bring.

In truth we hardly had time to digest the full picture before dragging ourselves into the studio. Like giggling schoolgirls at a One Direction concert, we were giddy with excitement and largely incoherent with our speech. Still, in and amongst the usual regulars, you might just find something of value amongst the jibberings.

How many DGwers are everyone looking to have, without any hits?

And also, are people looking to lose rooney for either ade/suarez to free up some cash?

Between 5-6, a good lot of those are already in my team though so I haven't got them in as much as being careful who I get rid of.

If Everton have their DGW in GW36 aswell then i think i will lose Rooney for Adebayor so i can get Baines in. It means going without Rooney for Swansea(H) and Sunderland(A) though. The title could be won by then though.

ok folks after much planning I have managed to get 11 out for GW34 and a nice DGW team for no hit (or 1 hit)

    GW34

    De Gea

    Evans, Caulker, Verm

    Theo, Siggy, Sess, McClean

    RvP, Rooney, Yak

    GW36

    Mingolet

Skrtel, Kaboul, Verm (could be Cashley for a hit, JT just out of reach)

    Bale, Siggy, Miyachi, Theo

    Rvp, Rooney, Ade

Only hit would be if I got Cashley in, and I'd have to drop him back to Verm in 37 (and do Skrtel to Huth for hit I think)

I honestly don't think Chelsea's DGW fixtures are that nice - not worth a hit anyway. But obviously there's a lot of time to assess form before you pull the trigger on that. Aside from that it all looks very good, awesome team for GW34 - you'd barely know there were teams not playing!

I've had Dempsey for a good while now and (h) to Wigan does look nice but for that to happen you need to persevere through a game against Chelsea and a blank GW.

Hearing about Dempsey's last 3 DGW's where he has scored 2 in each of them but trips to Goodison then Anfield does not look good at all.

Sorry, this is pretty much a repost, but I'm just wondering if I'm missing something with all this talk about DGW players...is it just me or is it kinda irrelevant unless you've still got a WC...

To explain…there are two broad options with each transfer (3 actually but only two are relevant):

    1) Non-DGW player > DGW player

Result: you get no game in GW34 and 2 games in the DGW = 2 games in total

    2) DGW player (i.e. GW34 blank player) > Non-DGW player (i.e. GW34 player)

Result: you get 1 game in GW34 and 1 in the DGW = 2 games in total

The only exceptions are (a) if you are bringing in a player that you want to cpt in the DGW, (b) bringing in Bolton players post GW34 or (c) avoiding having more than 11 players with a fixture in GW34

          Ah Ha!

Which is why master planning is required, planning up to GW34 to get 11 players and no more, then planning after to maximise your coverage.

Yeah, getting more than 11 was one of my caveats at the bottom - any number up to 11 makes no difference. OK, there is actually a nuance regarding number of players in each position, due to allowable formations but this is probably a little subtle for this discussion

My target is to have 11 players for GW34, and then to look at how I can get in DGW players that have good fixtures, and that I won't to get rid of straight away.

This seems a sensible strategy (which sort of contradicts my theory) but only because GW34 is sooner than the DGW's i.e. less chance of players you are bringing in now getting injured / out of form by GW34 than by the DGW's

    for this coming gw:

    Krul (LIV)
Skyrtel (new) Baines (WBA) JEvans (bla)
Dempsey (NOR) Miyachi (wol) Valencia (Bla) Bale (SWA)
RvP (QPR) Rooney (bla) Adebayor (SWA)

Mignolet (MCI) Sigurdsson (TOT) Kelly (NOR) Simpson (LIV)

    £2.2m in the bank

Look ok? Would like to play Sigurdsson but fancy Miyachi at Wolves.. benching him seems the optimum choice. Any comments or Captaincy opinions warmly welcome. Any transfers would be for a hit.

Need your help! Only 21pts from the summit in my mini league 😀

The blank of GW34 (which I think will be more significant than the double of 36) does not even provide a solution to Ba. Odemwingie with Everton next? Yakubu when I'd have Caulker and Vorm that GW?

I'm determined to have a third striker playing GW34 but it seems like I'm trying to shove square pegs in round holes.

Most people seem to be focusing on getting 11 players playing in GW 34, meaning they'll have less players playing in the DGW's/will have to take hits for the DGW's. Seems a sound strategy on the face of it, but if you look at the fixtures, not many teams have standout fixtures in GW 34 (Man Utd, Arsenal and Swansea for me).

Doesn't it make more sense to go with 9 or 10 players for 34, and make up with the extra game in the DGW? Fixtures are a lot better for the top teams (Spurs, Pool, Chelsea), and you're effectively making up that game anyway.

It's not rocket science. You put out 11 in GW34. Leaving you with 4 benched players having a DGW and at least 2 free transfers prior to GW36.

      Simples.

That gives you 6 for the DGW. I'm planning to have 8 (10 players playing in GW 34, and 3 free transfer). I'm more of a fan of the 36 fixtures.

Fair points about some of those fixtures. United, Arsenal and Swansea stood out for me, though Man City definitely make the cut too (not sure who I'd want from that team anymore though). West Brom QPR is tricky, and McClean is enough for the Sunderland fixture for me.

      Fair points though.
