It’s Monday night and champions Manchester United frequent our screens once more – this week away at struggling Blackburn Rovers. The Dugout Discussion opens to see Gameweek 31 wrap up, and the team news is in…

Blackburn XI: Robinson, Lowe, Dann, Grant Hanley, Martin Olsson, Orr, Pedersen, Nzonzi, Marcus Olsson, Hoilett, Yakubu.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Jones, Valencia, Hernandez, Rooney.

Steve Kean makes one change from the side that lost to Bolton, with Bradley Orr coming in for Mauro Formica.

Three changes for the visitors see Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young and Danny Welbeck all miss out to Phil Jones, Paul Scholes and Javier Hernandez.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

so can i conclude that easy games=Rooney playing deep. City(A) is the right time to actually (C) rooney perhaps?

just saying that the past 2 games, (Wolves and Bburn). considered to be easy games, he played deep, giving Hernandez time to shine.

Money league is getting very interesting. About 35 points covers the top 5 with roughly 1000 euro to play for split between the top 3.

    well no knejerking for me

Schwarzer to De Gea done as planned.

    Happy with team for 32

    De Gea

    Evans, Skrtel, Caulker

    Theo, Bale, Siggy, Dempsey

    Yak, Rooney (c) RvP

    Mingolet, Verm, McClean, Santon

Question is do I play McClean over Yak or Clint? Do I play Verm or Skrtel?

    Team atm

    Krul Mignolet

    Vermaelen Enrique Simpson Evans Kelly

    Dempsey Bale Valencia Sess Sigurdsson

    Rooney RVP Adebayor

Only have 8 gw 34 players (2,3,2) but want to keep adebayor for the dgw. this week kelly to turner for gw 34, next week dempsey to walcott for gw 34, then walcott to dempsey for dgw. thought?

Debating whether to (finally) get Walcott in this week. I held off in order to keep Dempsey which paid off.
With City now needing goals , will they be ripe for the counter attack?
Clichy can be good defensively, but he also can be got.. as for Golarov...

I'm hearing this theory a lot, but even then both of the two goals were individual magic not great chances. The goals weren't primarily caused by tiredness - both goals were well marked, just well taken.

I think Fergie's choice to dominate the centre at the expense of both flanks tonight was a defensive choice - he saw what happened in the first match when United never held the midfield.

After RVP insipid showing i would have happily swapped my captaincy to roopig before tonights match.

Puts lots of doubts in my mind for next week...

Starting to think Rooney is not that essential in FF terms. If he is going to keep playing deep he is no good to us for points.

Agree, once again it's the Fergie problem - you just can't know if he's going to play striker or midfield. The risk seems too great to leave him out though.

The compromise might be to stop captaining him and go with RVP whose position is never in doubt.

Good point. He could easily play higher up against QPR and score for fun so it is a big risk to get rid. It's just difficult to watch a £12.5m striker drops so deep and not threaten the goal.

It is difficult, after Wolves and Blackburn even Torres is looking sexy compared to him 😉

He's played like that most of the season and scored nearly 30 goals.

its certainly another piece of evidence in the 'which one to get rid of out or rvp and rooney debate for week 36 🙂

False dawn after false dawn with him this season. Bloody annoying.

On another note JEvans himself had a couple of those. I didn't include him in the WC due to injury and boxing day shenanigans.

it could be true, but he's not worth ditching just yet, he is still on pens. Rovers had 10 men behind the ball much of the time and Rooney was wide left for much of the game.

I think QPR may play a weakend side if they prioritise the Sunderland game, they could be there for the taking.

Adebayor or Torres could be a great alternatives after GW34.

I want HBA, Siggy, McClean, Sess, VDV, Bale, Walcott, Valencia, Dempsey and that's just for starters. Why do all the midfielders come good now when there's a messy fixture list?
