With their city rivals making a statement at Carrow Road yesterday, the Sunday Dugout Discussion opens to see if league leaders Manchester United can hold their nerve and restore a five point lead at home to Aston Villa. It’s the only Premier League game taking place today, and the team news for the encounter is in…

Man United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Rooney.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Ireland, Clark, Gardner, Weimann, Agbonlahor.

As expected, Sir Alex Ferguson restores Paul Scholes to his starting line-up in place of Ryan Giggs. There’s also recalls for Rafael and Danny Welbeck, with Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez dropping to the bench.

Alex McCleish is without the injured duo of Stephen Warnock and Chris Herd, so there are starts for both Gary Gardner and Ciaran Clark.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom can be accessed right here, and will remain open the duration of today’s football, including the FA Cup tie between Tottenham and Chelsea.

Don't think it's unfair on RVP, he's had a lot of chances to increase his tally and has made a muck of them. Still would rather see him win it because I rate him higher and would like him to get some recognition. Sorry for the defensiveness, been defending the united peno for a while now so was still going 90 😉

Yeah he's been a better player but the Golden Boot is who scores more goals. Plenty of strikers who have deserved it before due to being better players have lost it to worse strikers with a better tally. It happens.

Disagree, runs the chance of getting negative points if he misses. More of a risk than any other form of goalscoring in the game so don't see why it should be worth less if he gets it.

    Citing panels

Works in rugby, but punch ups, hair pulling, eye gouging all still happen so its not a complete deterrent

What a conundrum for the FA. Too controversial so they will probably just do nothing and retire to their drawing room for a cigar and a glass of scotch and congratulate each other for a job well done
