For so long a figure of frustration as a Fantasy asset, Victor Moses has firmly established himself as a legitimate midfield option over the last few Gameweeks. As Wigan scrap for survival, the former Crystal Palace man has been crucial to his side’s toils near the bottom of the table and, with Roberto Martinez’s men not quite safe yet, the Latics will be reliant on Moses to produce over the upcoming final two matches.
It wasn’t always like this. As many of us know only too well, Moses was reliable for one thing over the first few months of the campaign – delivering two point returns. The first 14 Gameweeks of the season brought a single assist and, with plenty on the boards losing faith in his abilities, Moses slipped down in price to just 4.6 by Gameweek 17.
Since Gameweek 23, however, Moses’ famine has turned to a feast, with his Fantasy owners benefitting from four goals, four assists and 11 bonus points in those last fourteen games. David Silva, in comparison, has provided a goal, a trio of assists and four bonus points for City.
With wins over the likes of United, Arsenal and Newcastle in the past four Gameweeks, Martinez’s men are in flourishing form and, once again, seem to be on the verge of a great escape. Three points clear of the drop zone, they’re handed the perfect opportunity to seal their survival – a trip to Blackburn this weekend, followed by a final day home clash with Wolves sees out the season.
Moses rolls up to Ewood on the back of his highest Fantasy points haul of the campaign, with a 16 point return in last weekend’s thrashing of Newcastle. Priced at just 5.2, he is second only to Nikica Jelavic for transfers in so far this week and, with faith in his abilities now finally cemented, many more are likely to give Victor the call before Saturday morning’s deadline.
