The Dugout Discussion opens for the oddity of a solitary Saturday Premier League fixture. With Chelsea and Liverpool Wembley bound this evening, we’re restricted to just one fantasy scoring opportunity. But, with over half of us backing Robin van Persie with the armband (if our Captain’s Poll is to be believed), then Arsenal versus Norwich is a game of huge significance. With mini-leagues hanging in the balance, let’s take a look at the team news to confirm whether or not our talisman starts…

Arsenal XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Ramsey, Song, Gervinho, Rosicky, Benayoun, van Persie.

Norwich XI: Ruddy, Naughton, Ryan Bennett, Martin, Lappin, Johnson, Howson, Elliott Bennett, Hoolahan, Jackson, Holt.

Of course the Arsenal captain does start, and he does so in an unchanged Gunners line-up from the side that drew 1-1 at Stoke.

After a 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, Norwich make several changes with Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson leading the line for the Canaries.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

Well RVP has pretty much ended the season for me, so I don't expect to be on here much until next season.

Good luck the rest of you who still have something to play for and hope you at least beat last season's score or your current best, whichever is the greater.

Lot's of lessons learned and the top 100 WILL be achieved next season! 🙂

      I have Rooney Aguero Cisse.

I was clear 1st until recently and 2nd/3rd have just had the run and I haven't. It happens.

I'll make my transfer and pick my team, but I'll settle for the £70 3rd place and have a nice target to beat next season (probs around 1500th or so).

        Plus Spearing.

        I reckon:

        Reina
        Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique
        Downing, Spearing, Gerrard, Bellamy
        Suarez Carroll

Maybe Carra, but he shouldn't be first choice, and maybe not that formation. Henderson has a shout of starting, but that's about it

Evans went from a red flag to a yellow yet his chances of playing went down from 50% > 25%. Do you think this was meant to be changed to 75% chance of playing or was the change to a yellow flag done in error?

Depends. If they actually spend a bit of money this Summer they could strengthen up and keep him. I think Wenger is being an absolute twat thinking Podolski would be the reason RVP would stay. They need to spend, a lot.

I'm reckoning you will qualify however am I wrong in saying Arsenal have a few bob thanks to their sales last Summer? I was sure they did. Plus, if they perhaps send some younger players on loan or permanent move they can bring down costs.

            Hard now.

Spurs games are both winnable and Arsenal have been sputtering the last month or so.

Defensively they are poor though and at some point they are going to need to address that if they are serious about competing for Champions League spots etc.

When Vermaelen stays back and attacks when needed or at corners we do well (see Chelsea/City games recently for example) but against weaker teams he tends to play as a box-to-box midfielder and leaves Koscienly stranded on the counter, needs to time when he runs forward better, as the smaller teams are finding him out when going for it..

We have a few bob but nobody knows where it goes. Stadium? Wages? Shareholders pockets? Who knows. Every summer we anticipate some big signings but they never arrive. I am expecting the same this summer.

Re Fool's Gold. I would certainly include Drenthe.

However, look at Walcott's goals up until 24 March. Away at OT, Stamford Bridge, Swansea and at home to Spurs. Who would have had him let alone captained him for those fixtures? Therefore, we get no benefit from him. Someone like Dempsey on the other hand...

I never buy a player on the basis of his overall rank. It can be a misleading gauge as I found out when I was a casual.

Someone like Mata has the most assists and is one of the highest ranking midfielders. However, how many of us have been able to benefit from his potential?
