Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No. Valencia doesn't suck, to be sure, but sooo many of his points last year were accumulated in blowouts against the crap sides that I wouldn't really trust him to deliver vs quality opponents.

If you had used WC which players would you bring in to ensure you could gain some profit to your team? I realise this means 0.2 price raise before Saturday but I think this is viable for some players.

Is Torres -> RVP worth a hit?

Torres looks in good touch and has been given great service by Hazard and co. He has qpr, STO, ars, NOR after his blank.
However, don't want to go without RVP especially as there is no Rooney.

The big question for me is whether I get through tonight without making a transfer. I could make the transfers I wanted right now, but that would be before watching Arsenal, City and Liverpool play tomorrow. Bearing in mind I'm thinking of losing Gerrard and Torres while getting Cazorla/Kagawa and RVP I can't transfer yet. I NEED MORE INFORMATION DAMMIT 😀

Brian (not the messiah), contrary to your post some pages back about beating me in our Bundesliga tie, we seem to have drawn... with the same 3 players yet to play...

Situations somewhat conspired against me to switch captain from McClean to Bale... so it seems we are both on 52 points, once I get Clyne and Noble's cumulative 3 points...

Consider yourself very lucky, cos McClean was going to rip it up! 😉

Who should I switch N'Zogbia to: Pienaar / Duff? - both have good form and fixtures.

I have £3m in the bank, so can potentially get a more expensive guy (e.g.: HBA, Kags) but I'm still tempted to do Torres -> RVP (and should I do this for a 4 point hit?)

When does everybody think they'll be playing their wildcards/when did they play them?

Hoping to wait until a big DGW in the new year with at least 2 extra matches.

Though atm I'm scraping sides together with hits each week!

Early doors. I'll be saving mine for a very, very long time. Those wildcarding will be good for 5 weeks then will flop.

There's no right time. I wouldn't even say that everyone who's doing it now is making a mistake: I've been quite lucky in that the punts I've made (and in GW1 they're virtually all punts) have mostly paid off, so I'm happy to work more gradually towards my ideal squad.

Your wildcard should be used when you think you've got major changes that need making, and need making quickly to avoid falling behind your rivals. That might come in GW2, GW10, or GW25...it could come anytime. Obviously it's preferable to wait a bit so you have more data to work with, but it's also definitely possible to leave it too late to make a real impact on your season as a whole. You often hear people talk about saving it for the last 5 gameweeks or something for a late surge, but personally I'd rather surge on earlier and make my rivals chase me.

So in a nutshell, how long is a piece of string?

How much do you think Hazard will rise to by next Saturday?

I need to pick 2 transfers to do out of:

Terry > Santon, Mata > Hazard, Torres > Adebayor

....thoughts? An alternative would be to do Mata > Ben Arfa (who is eventually coming in anyway) so there's 11 players actually playing next week.

Some crazy best of both worlds-team idea. Fill in the hole below for 6,4

    Nasri, Michu, Pienaar, Noble, ********
    RvP, Torres, Tevez

An alternative idea with no possibility for Hazard
