Santi Cazorla admits he is thriving as the chief midfield schemer for Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. Everton will assess Marouane Fellaini’s knee problem on Monday, Paul Lambert talks up the displays of Brett Holman, Yohan Cabaye is a doubt for France due to a stomach problem , while Brendan Rodgers hopes Jose Enrique will return to training within the next fortnight…

Santi Cazorla has spoken of his happiness at Arsenal after making an instant impact this term. The Spaniard admitted he was somewhat taken aback by the praise he has received since moving to England from Malaga this summer:

“It could be that in the few months I have been there people have been talking a lot more about me. I feel important at Arsenal and I want to keep developing. The way Arsenal play and the responsibility they have given me is something I have always sought out. I think it’s a step forward in my career and I hope to improve a great deal in the future.”

After a quiet opening couple of appearances, Cazorla has gone from strength to strength, dictating Arsenal’s forward forays from his role in “the hole” behind a lone forward. Producing a goal or assist in four of his last five Gameweeks, he’s made a persuasive case for investment, with Saturday’s evening’s live match at West Ham affording Fantasy managers the perfect opportunity to scout his potential. He is already third most popular player in FPL this Gameweek, with over 34,000 Fantasy managers snapping up his services – with a trip to Norwich and three home games in the next five, the investment looks set to continue.

Everton have confirmed Marouane Fellaini will return to the club to have his knee problem examined further. The midfielder has withdrawn from the Belgium squad due to an injury picked up at Wigan on Saturday – although he finished the DW match, scans with the international squad have since picked up the problem. Selected by over 30% of FPL teams, Fellaini is one of the most popular players in the game right now but it seems his owners need to wait another few days for further prognosis after the Toffees revealed he is not due back until Monday – many Fantasy managers have already decide to sell on, with over 35,000 shipping him out on the back of Tuesday’s news.

Paul Lambert took time out to sings the praises of Brett Holman yesterday. The Villa boss talked up the importance of the Australian’s contribution this term, going on to say:

“Brett’s been unlucky not to score, but he’s playing really, really well at this time. He’s not shy to have a shot on goal and he’s a creative player. I always think if creative players can make things happen and score a goal or maybe slide the odd ball through, then you’ve got a player on your hands. It’s important we share the goals around. We need that threat but Brett’s all-round game is good at the minute, really good. He’s got energy to burn, and he’s a top lad as well. If he keeps going the way he’s going he’ll have a really good season. He’s got a great desire for the game, a great enthusiasm for the game.”

While the likes of Charles N’Zogbia and Stephen Ireland have struggled to force themselves into Lambert’s midfield on a regular basis, Holman has started six of the midlanders’ first seven matches. Having also dropped Darren Bent up front in the last two games, the former Norwich boss has been quick to show reputations matters little when it comes to team selection. Mainly fielded out wide this term, Holman’s display at the tip of a midfield diamond in the recent home draw with West Brom was particularly impressive without quite producing the Fantasy returns – although Villa’s form and upcoming fixtures are enough to dissuade even the most maverick of Fantasy managers, Lambert’s comments at least suggest the new boy will be relied upon more than most over the rest of the campaign.

Yohan Cabaye has been all but ruled out of France’s friendly with Japan tomorrow. The midfielder has apparently picked up a stomach problem and is also rated a doubt for Les Bleus’ World Cup qualifier with Spain on Tuesday, with concerns now over his availability for Newcastle’s trip to Sunderland in Gameweek 8. With the Tyne-Wear derby taking place on Sunday October 21, Alan Pardew will be hopeful Cabaye is able to shake off the problem, having only just returned to the first-team last weekend after missing out in the Gameweek 6 trip to Reading due to a mouth infection.

Brendan Rodgers is optimistic that Jose Enrique will return to training in the next week or so. Speaking to his club’s official website, the Liverpool boss revealed:

“He hasn’t been [available for selection] in the last couple of weeks. It’s unfortunate – he’s got a pain in his knee that he was struggling with. We’ve been trying to treat it conservatively. Hopefully within the next week to 10 days he’ll be back out on the training field and hopefully there will be no reaction. He’s a terrific player, Jose, and has got great qualities. We hope we can get him back sooner rather than later.”

Enrique has managed just one league start due to the problem, with his last appearance coming in the Europa League last month. With Glen Johnson moving flanks to fill in at left-back, Martin Kelly was in pole position for the vacant right-back until recent knee ligament damage sidelined him for several months. Teenager Andre Wisdom has stepped up impressively over the last few matches – handed a start in the Europa League win over Young Boys, he grabbed a goal and has now been named in Rodgers’ first XI for the last two league matches. With maximum bonus and a clean sheet on his home debut, Wisdom’s owners will be hoping Enrique remains on the sidelines for the time being – priced at 4.5 in FPL, he could be an intriguing cut-price punt if he can nail down a regular role. However, competition for starts in the full-back area is increasing at Anfield – John Flanagan is also edging back to fitness and has stressed his determination to challenge for a starting berth.

I could do Tevez > Lambert and Lowton > Baines but that would mean I would need to sell Hazard or RVP to fit Cazorla in and I don't really want to do that. Baines is class though.

If Andy Carroll was a bit cheaper, I'd definitely be having a punt on him at the moment.. He was a beast against us, we were lucky to contain him... I think he'll cause teams some real problems this season!

There's cl game after next gw, right`?

I'm thinking to keep Tevez for at least next two matches and then it's west ham, so maybe that too.
Reasoning is that while others are on internationals he's training in manchester (is he?) and will prob start next gw. Then if he's not first choice starter anymore, he'll be benched in cl game and play again next pl game.

Anyone else keeping or am I all alone nowadays?

You know how there is a maximum 0.3 price rise between GW's, is this the same for price drops as well?

Cos, I am holding Fellaini but at the rate he is dropping, he could be down a lot by the time the new GW starts otherwise!

    AUTUMN.
    ____

THE Spring is gone, the Summer-beauty wanes,
    Like setting sunbeams, in their last decline;
As evening shadows, lingering on the plains,
Gleam dim and dimmer till they cease to shine:
    The busy bee hath humm’d himself to rest;
    Flowers dry to seed, that held the sweets of Spring;
Flown is the bird, and empty is the nest,
His broods are rear’d, no joys are left to sing.
There hangs a dreariness about the scene,
A present shadow of a bright has been. 10
Ah, sad to prove that Pleasure’s golden springs,
Like common fountains, should so quickly dry,
And be so near allied to vulgar things!—
The joys of this world are but born to die.

    John Clare

I think this is the most balanced option as I have both City and United cover as well as two heavy hitting mids. However, do you think RVP -> Rooney is worth the 4 point hit?

That's the dilemma. I would love City cover for their great fixtures but it would come at an expense of RVP to Aguero or downgrading RVP so I can get Silva or getting Silva instead of Cazorla.

            Team is:

            Foster (Fed)
            Baines, Wilson, Hangeland (Demel, Cuellar)
            Bale, HAZARD, MICHU, Pienaar (Kaca)
            RVP, Ba, Lambert

I have 1.3m in the bank with Hazard, Michu and RVP the men to potentially go out.

    Alright fellas

Considering changing my strike force (RVP, Lambert, Fletcher) to get some City coverage (I have no City players going into their nice run of fixtures). Hopefully you can see my team in my link, but I am considering:

    A) Hazard & Fletcher ---> Pienaar & Aguero (I already have Fellaini though)
    B) Hazard & Fletcher ---> Morrison & Aguero

Thoughts? Other options? I have two FTs.

    Cheers

He has never scored more than 3 goals in a season. He will always play and Villa will keep very few clean sheets. So you're looking at a clockwork 2 pointer.

Yeah, Kacka has got loads of really good competition which he doesn't look like winning for a long time. Shame as it looked like a great pick a couple of weeks in.

I haven't had need to play him for ever though so I'm in not hurry to upgrade. Will wait for someone to really jump out.

Sterling's the obvious one but for some reason I can't get excited about it enough to spend a transfer on it.

Reading have been unexpectedly woeful at the back and Nelsen may have a short term injury and long-term gametime worries so I'd say McCartney.

2 free transfers this week. Getting rid of Hazard for Cazorla but dont know whether to go for Sterling (home to Reading) in for Morrison (home to City) as Morrison WBA' have couple of good home games coming up plus hes been good differential especially last week!

Dilemma I have is Id like to get Vermalaen in soon but dont want to take a point hit the following GW where Id probably bench one of Baines, Pienaar and if transfered in, Sterling...Should I hold out on the 1 free this week, keeping the 2 free transfers for the following GW?

I can afford to keep him alright as Michu is the one Il probably get rid after this GW. Morrison does have tough run next 5 or 6 games but its the Southampton and Wigan matches where he should profit. Wouldnt surprise me if he does well against City at home too.. Sterling really would only be a one week punt and freeing up some funds but its just as I have 2 free transfers, I thought I used them both this week (plus Liverpool have a relatively handy game) but maybe Il wait it out so I can do the same GW 9 and get Verm plus 5m mid

Silva - (arguably) more consistent, better team, looking like he did at the start of last season, better fixtures medium term too.

Bale is a good option but I don't think he's going to be as good under AVB this season as he was during his great streak last season. If I were going for a Spud it'd have to be Defoe or Adebayor.

i don't NEED to get rid of Graham. at home to WIG would be his very last chance saloon.

BUT, the chances of him scoring are small and the chances of him being benched are big.

SO, in summary, to cut a long story short and to get to the point without further ado:

    Rangel + Graham > Davies + Berba (-4 hit)

I have the same conundrum. Was goin to keep him for these two home games, this being the last. Not sure at all if he will start. Thinking of doing Graham ->Lambert and Hazard->Silva myself

I'm not sure the Rangel ➡ Davies makes it worth in. I'd find another way for sure

Defence is: Baines, Hangeland, Demel, Clyne, Rangel

if i do Graham > Berba, i need to do Rangel or Hange to 4.3m or less.

      any ideas?

      Stop insulting Sterling 😉

Killer front line. Defence is weak because of this though.

if your plan is to always play 3 defenders cant see spearing being good option, you will be relying on all midfielders more, particularly with rotation potential up front

I'd get Ba instead of one of the big guns and upgrade the defence.

That brings up back to the million dollar question of RVP or Aguero! Quite fancy Aguero Berba and Suarez up top.

Is Morrison this years Sess? Consistent (look at his PPI) and playing behind the front man for a team who will do a lot better than they did last year for goals

          Not really. Never mind.
And yeah Morrison is a good pick. Although I would say Nolan is more of a Sess than Morrison.

is this a no brainer after GW8

    IN Morrison and Behovic

OUT Michu and non playing goalie henderson

It would allow me to rotate ali and beg both quality goalies.

Cant sell Michu now as he has a good fixture and morrison has city next.

    good idea or bad

Sounds good to me but depends on the rest of your team, maybe you have some bigger fish to fry? Begovic is a great pick after GW8.
