Southampton register their first win under Mauricio Pochettino, with Jason Puncheon bagging the opener and Rickie Lambert chipping in with a pair of assists at St Mary’s. Edin Dzeko’s sixth goal in his last six starts proves no more than consolation for the visitors – the result means United now have the chance to establish a 12 point lead over their neighbours, providing they see off Everton at Old Trafford:

On the Up

Rickie Lambert
Having scored against the champions in Gameweek 1, the Saints forward once again highlighted his fixture-proof appeal by bagging a pair of assists. Lambert has now scored or assisted in six of the last nine and has moved to 128 FPL points – third best scoring forward behind only Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez.

Jason Puncheon
The winger fired home the opener to underline his popularity as a cut-price midfield option. Puncheon has now returned four goals and six assists this term and has racked up more points than any other midfielder in the 5.0 and under bracket.

Edin Dzeko
Selected alongside Sergio Aguero for the St Mary’s trip, the Bosnian continued a strong run of form which has now plundered six goals and two assists in his last six starts. Dzeko’s somewhat fortuitous strike means he has produced returns in all six of those first-team appearances – at 7.4 in FPL, his mid-price appeal goes from strength to strength.

Steven Davis
Handed the role in “the hole” due to Gaston Ramirez’s knock, Davis grabbed the second in an impressive display. While his 4.5 price appeals, it’s worth noting this was his first start under Mauricio Pochettino – Davis has climbed off the bench after the break in each of the previous three.

Going Down

Carlos Tevez
According to Roberto Mancini, the Argentine’s omission was down to “personal reasons” with other reports elaborating further and suggesting family matters were to blame. Nevertheless, with Dzeko maintaining his run of form, Tevez could well face a task to regain his starting berth – he has scored once from Gameweek 13 onwards by comparison.

Matija Nastasic
The return of Yaya Toure allowed Mancini to shift Javi Garcia into central defence, with the teenager omitted from the squad due to fatigue. A run of 11 starts in 12 between Gameweek 9 and 20 had suggested he was all but nailed-on but with just 55 minutes game time in the last three, Nastasic’s minutes are lessening as the season heats up. Given his side’s somewhat spineless showing, Vincent Kompany’s return can’t come soon enough for Mancini.

    a) dzeko + afro (and a benching headache down the road)
    b) anichebe + dempsey (to be shifted to michu/afro/hazard in a week or two's time) + 1.9 in the bank

The saying ‘darkest before the dawn’ comes to mind in regards to Nastasic.

Kompany’s return will bring stability and CS’s back and now Nast is back fresh, he is the preferred partner at CB.

If you have him- keep him. If not get him in and leave him there until GW 38.

    Hitchcock - The Birds

Been a fair bit of discussion on here recently so revisited it tonight and I have to say it it is vastly overrated... There were some genuinely tense moments but mostly the acting was terrible, the special effects awful (even allowing for the fact it was 1963) the storyline was ridiculous and just as I was getting ready for the exciting finale the credits started.. 😕

if DDG plays tomorrow then we can be sure about his place. and in all likelihood united will go out of the CL this round itself. so worth a shot imo.

New to your board, new to the FPL.
I've gone from last to 8th recently in my buddy's 15 team league as I become more of a fan of the EPL and try to figure out fantasy strategy to have bragging rights over my friends.

    Current Team:
    G: Vorm (Bunn)
D: Harte - Enrique - Monreal (Clyne, Shaw)
    M: Gerrard - Mata - Walcott 9.0 - Michu 7.9 (Marveaux)
    F: RVP - Suarez 10.5 - Anichebe

With the blank game week I need to transfer any of the following. (.9 in the bank)
    Gerrard, Suarez, Enrique - Michu
...and Marveaux needs to go unfortunately

I need to differentiate to keep the charging up the table in my league. I have seen on this board that there might be more postponed games coming in week 29. Can anyone shed light on that and do you have suggestions on a transfer or two?

Looking at Lamps, Kebe, Bale, Sissoko so far as possibilities

Yeah, I just think Bale tends to be so boom or bust.

Thinking about it, 2 from 5 have to go. Was originally Michu and Suarez (Davies, Enrique, Sturridge) but am leaning towards Davies and Suarez now.

Shawcross to keep his assist please. He played really well and fully deserves the assist and bonus.

    Thank you.

Have a midfield of Bale, Walcott, Mata, Taarabt and Guthrie. Should I get Sissoko?

Ok... gladly it has been an underwhelming week for idiocy of the nasty kind.

The Total Twat Award for this Saturday is given to Juree for his early post:

I'm really heartened that so many less hateful, stupid things have been said here this week!

It's much nicer when people are less abusive around here. Thanks for monitoring these clowns.

Kokak should be getting it for his comment, 'A good manager would do what Redknapps doing at QPR' what paying 12.5m for Samba paying him and Loic Remy 100k a week...if they go down there the next Portsmouth.
