Our congratulations go to Acquafresca this afternoon after he clinched the FFS Members Cup with a 72-52 win over Eunuch Jelly last weekend. The margin of victory was mainly down to the winner’s decision to captain a certain Dutchman, as Robin Van Persie racked up a 34 point armband return in United’s home win over Villa on Monday evening:

Acquafresca also had Luis Suarez to thanks after the Liverpool man registered an 11 point return in Sunday’s home clash with Chelsea, while Theo Walcott and Norwich skipper Russell Martin combined for 12 points to help seal the silverware. Acquafresca also receives £100 worth of free bets and a £100 Amazon voucher for his troubles.

Eunuch Jelly opted for Michu as captain in Swansea’s home game with Southampton but the Spaniard’s blank proved costly. Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Eden Hazard, David De Gea and Guy Demel all chipped in with points but weren’t enough to overturn the Van Persie haul – nevertheless, our runner-up can console himself with £50 worth of free bets and a £50 Amazon voucher.

The battle for third spot came down to overall rank after Maddocio and 12 inch of fury both registered 53 points apiece in Gameweek 34. The latter’s superior placing in the standings earned him victory, with captain Suarez producing the points along with Walcott, Patrice Evra and Ben Davies – he picks up £50 worth of free bets and a £25 Amazon voucher.

Maddocio’s tally was helped by Chelsea midfield duo Eden Hazard and Juan Mata, while Walcott, Rooney, Demel and De Gea all played their parts. Ultimately, his decision to captain Michu also proved his downfall after the goalless draw at the Liberty with Southampton.

All of our quartet will be in the draw for the first ever Fantasy Football Scout Shield, which takes place over the final four Gameweeks. This will see the last eight of the FFS Members cup face the last eight participants of the Fantasy Football Scout cup in a similar knockout format, with the final occurring on the last day of the season. We’ll be publishing the draw for that one later on this evening.

          Fixtures are not great, i agree. But likes of Mata and Hazard are big game players. Just see corresponding fixtures earlier in the season to have an idea of their impact.

    I don't like the way the scouts can pick a whole new team every week and get credit for it. It's not realistic. I think instead of the scouts picks and Mark and Granville's team they should have a set team at the start of the season with a bench keeper and three bench outfield players and be allowed to make one transfer each week which better reflects the situation we are all in. I realise the idea won't appeal to some since you would imagine a lot of people would copy what the scouts do each week but it just pains me to see the scout picks and watchlist slate whipped clean each week when we are all sat here mulling over our one measily free transfer

      Scout picks are hardly used to get credit - they don't harp on about how successful they are, they don't have a captain.

      Scoutcast gives you a bit more of what Granville and Mark are up to if you wanted that.

      If they could think of a way of doing it (I tired but failed last year to come up with one) then I wouldn't mind a community team.

          It's doable but I think it's very very likely that people would lose interest and that those in charge would be stuck with a team they'd invested time in that nobody cared about.

          The major stumbling block I thought of was deciding when to do transfers. What transfers is easy enough - nominate and put a vote up. But unless you agree to always do them on a Friday then how do you decide when those votes need to be in by.

            So, place the cod in a small dish, tight around it, flesh side up. Wash a lemon, zest it and retain the zest, cut in half and juice it. Sprinkle dried dill over, half a teaspoon. sprinkle with plenty of dried pepper. Pour half the lemon juice carefully over all of it

            If you have shallots, sweat them in a small pan until soft. if not, a small brown onion. add one teaspoon of ground coriander. If you have black mustard seeds, add a pinch of those too. Add a pinch of tarragon. Empty a can of plum tomatoes over the shallots/onion stir and reduce. Add a slug of white wine, stir and reduce.

            Cook sufficient new/corolle potatoes from in cold well salted water in a pan at least twice the volume of potatoes. When they float, they're done.

            Line a small baking tray with foil, shiny side up. Rub generously with butter. Put 70g of bacon, either streaky or lardons on it. Put in oven, gas mark six, for 15 mins.

            Now place the cod loin on the bacon bits, flesh side down. Rub the skin with soft butter. Back in the oven, same temperature, for another 10 minutes, or until your nose says it's done.

            Serve with potatoes and the gooey tomato mixture poured over. Don't lose any of the bacon bits! Enjoy.
