KPI Analysis – Robin Van Persie

A fortnight ago, we rolled out a Preview Movie of the latest addition to our Members Area – the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) tables. Essentially, these track the frequency of certain key statistics that can help Fantasy managers identify a player’s form – whether it be a turn for the good or worse – over a Gameweek range or season. With this in mind, our first KPI focused members article looks at Robin Van Persie’s first season at United compared to his final year leading the line for Arsenal.

By tracking Van Persie’s frequency of key stats, Fantasy managers can begin to quantify and identify the exact areas of the Dutchman’s game that have altered since his move to Old Trafford last summer as they prepare potential investment for the season ahead.

    Not seem him in many teams, but what about Leighton Baines.

    Still on all set pieces I believe, possibly playing in a more advanced role under Martinez, cheaper than last season and decent fixtures to start.

    He's in for me at the moment anyway....

          He can't be more the Negredo, I thought they did it based on the player and what team they play for and don't speculate on whether someone wont play every game nailed. So just because he'll more than likely get more gametime than Negredo than doesn't mean he'll cost more. So striker from Manchester City with 25 goal vs Striker from Spurs with 24 goals should mean that Tottenham striker is cheaper or the same at least.

    Interesting article but illustrates how limited stats are when picking a team for the upcoming season. Becoming a member this season, I'm seeking to strike a balance between sticking to instinct and using stats to guide my selections. Lots of detail and relevant stats in trying to predict the future, but ultimately whether RVP justifies selection comes down to how creative you see Man Utd being and how they'll handle the transition from Ferguson to Moyes.

    I'm going to be leaving him out of my GW1 squad based on fixtures and added uncertainty with SAF no more. I agree that making plans for specific transfers early doors is likely to result in hits but there are enough midfielders in the 7-7.5m budget I can downgrade a Hazard or Cazorla to early doors to help raise the funds for RVP, come GW4 when there is a kind fixture and we will have more indication of form.

    My feeling/ Negredo is first choice. Pelegrini signing scored 25goals in La Liga. Dzeko is obviously the back up. no matter what Pelegrini says. Mark my words. I am gonna love the Negredo punt if Sturridge is still injured. We will talk when the season starts but surely surely Negredo is above Dzeko in the pecking order for strikers when City comes to discussion

    Kun, Jovetic, Silva, Navas all can play on the flanks or as in out strikers

          He scored against a lot of the top clubs last season, his couple v Arsenal specifically stand out.

          He was much better in the hole behind Graham too.

          And that game tonight, yes Bony 2 goals but he only tapped in Michus 2nd off the post.

          Easily been Michu (2) who only played 60 odd mins.

      well, this is my first time as a member but I'll share my opinion

      The Season ticker is good for seeing which team's have good or bad fixtures.

      Projections are useful (mostly the six game projections)

      RMT is arguably the best feature to tinker with. I've heard some say that it's individual projections aren't as accurate but the overall team points projection is pretty accurate. Don't know and they've probably improved their formulas, functions, etc. so I cannot judge.

      the stat tables are useful if you know how to use them

      The member articles are also handy

      Personally I bought membership because i think the creators of this site deserve our support but I'm happy with the features so far.

      Hard to say really. I buy it because I find the extra options and articles interesting and it's also a way to 'give back' to the site. But if I'm honest, I wouldn't say being a member has helped me to get a better rank or anything like that.

    Assuming you aren't keen on using an FT on a Chelsea defender over the season or whatever reasons, which objectives have you gone for now?

    (A) Short term - Ivanovic/Terry/Luiz, less nailed on players who you'd like to gamble for a good start to the season.
    (B) Long term - Cole, more nailed on, i.e. not planning to sell but want him for the rest of the season due to Chelsea's impressive and unbroken home defensive record.

      I've gone for Cole but just for the DGW because he is the only one assured of both matches and I dont think Ivanovic or Luiz will score attacking points in 2 matches

        Ridiculous. Granted its not assured luiz/Ivan will score attacking points. But their potential is much much higher than Cole's. Ivan's the best bet in my opinion. Had him last year over cole, never regretted it.

      I've come round to a mixture of those two: I want a Chelsea def for the reason you mention. Cole to start with for security until we know which of the more explosive options is nailed on.

          Yeah, I've seen the fixtures. They aren't the only team with a nice start though and I think there's a lot of other options out there who are perhaps more likely to get guaranteed minutes than the options above.

          I might take Kompany, I think he is being hugely overlooked on here.
