Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Why is everyone secretly omitting Demel from their RMT's?

There's no point in trying to be clever, people. We all know he's the first name on the sheet for everyone who has a sniff of FPL knowledge anyways...

Cheers Frank, good call. I'm not totally sold on Ramires either, but he's scored three in preseason, is cheap and probably the most nailed on Chelski mid after Hazard, for the DGW at least. Will get rid after the double.

The more I think about it, the more sense Ramires makes as a double gameweek option. All of the premium options aren't likely to play both, so why not put less skin in the game? On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that's what I thought last year and it effed me over. I'm going with the flair/risk of Oscar/Lampard or Lukaku.

True, but even if he only plays 1 match, that's only 1.5 million out of your budget, so maybe you're able to afford Walcott and he does the business for you, as opposed to if you have to pick Mirallas/Nolan (Who could still do well, mind) to go with Oscar.

if that's the case then surely cech, ivan, etc more attractive....ramires' likely return is prob just 180 mins play, a cs point or two and a bap perhaps....just so you can add to the likelihood of a -4 to follow. doesn't seem worth it.

Yeah, I've been flirting with the Cech and a defender double up, but on principle I don't like spending that much on defense. With Ramires, there's more flexibility, he can be benched for a game if I have another pressing transfer. Like I said, I think I'm going Lamps or Lukaku for the upside, but I do see Ramires appeal as a budget friendly, relatively nailed on option.

    Hi all. A few questions.

-Is anyone planning on putting Van Persie and Bale in their team? I know it destroys your budget, but the consistency of points is something that very few players(besides Suarez) can offer.

-Is Collins nailed on for West Ham?

-What's with Clyne's mysterious disappearance for Southampton in the last few pre-season games? Is he going to befit for the season or should I swap him for Shaw?

-Who's more nailed on for Norwich - Garrido, Turner or Olsson?

    Thanks!

    Hello!

so Pumpkinhead is leaving the Emirates, eh?

So the front 3 will be walcott, giroud and one of either podolski or the ox, correct? Are folks considering the Ox at the moment? Is Giroud even more appealing/nailed on now?

Giroud is nailed on for the front six regardless.

You gonna be around for the season Fuzzy?

so they wouldnt play walcott at striker with podolski and ox on the wings for a match for some odd reason? Seems Giroud is a wise investment then.

I think it'll be a front 3 of Walcott, Giroud and Santi, maybe Pod on the left and Santi in the hole.

Think it's just for GW 1. Apparently he's injured, so if he doesn't play in the last friendly/for Wales, he's not got much chance of featuring against Palace.

        Well...

If Bale goes to Madrid (likely to happen) I'm considering to do:

        Bale -> Coutinho
        Sturridge -> Lukaku/Torres

Haven't Touch My team for a week and Still quite Like it.

Would Like Your view on these decisions
    1. Rotating Collins and Shaw for third def spot so 4.0 brayford instead of murner?
    2. Haz, Walcott, coutinho, mirallas so no room for Nolan?
    3. After all, no room for J.Rod or any other Southampton attacking players

Can't believe I'm worriyng over lack of Norwich defence and west ham & Southampton attack

1 I'm having Colling staring most weeks with Murner and Shaw rotating for the third spot, but in your case Brayford over Murner makes sense.

2 I prefer all those players over Nolan personally, although downgrading Coutinho for Nolan might be necessary if you need to free cash

3 Who are your 3 strikers?

Two DGW strikers who will have to go by GW2/3 and a big gamble? I'd say one has to make way for a safe pick

That's true. Wasn't too keen benteke, but because his high ownership, fought it' safer to get him too.
might have to make all new forward line for gw4, but if I survive with one hit, its okay.
Giroud could be alternative, but I think Walcott is enough.

I won't be getting any Villa players. Their fixtures are awful and Benteke's price may well fall regardless of his GW1 performace.

Long weekend in South africa, no work on the weekend ==== time to fully focus on my fantasy team after months :D:D:D

Jotting down the main players to get from some of the teams analysed thus far:

Villa: tenov (undervalued) , benteke (no comments), luna (slight risk but shd be nailed on)

west brom: morrison (undervalued), long (esp if he has spotkicks), popov (if gets gametime, rest of the defence is too expensive), anelka (wait n watch for me)

West ham: collins (seems nailed on and cheap), jarvis (good value, good gametime), rat (cheap but seems rotation prone), caroll (injured), nolan (pricey)

southamption: shaw/clyne (good value esp with arrivals of good cdm's), lallana (only mid i would look at and decent value, had a stop/start last season coz of injuries), lambert/jrod (FFS article)

norwich: turner (shd be a starter and good value), snoddy (they main man)

stoke: Noone! its a wait and watch for me on how hughes changes this team and bad fixtures

crystal palace: parr (cheaper, rotation prone?), delaney (attacking potential but 4.5 is pricey), garvan (only attacking mid worth), gayle (i need to do some research on him but seems to have spotkicks and good price)

hull: chester (great value, not sure about his gametime), koren (good value and consistent)

newcastle: saylor/mbiwa (dont know who will start, rest of defence too pricey), sissoko (need some opinion here)

sunderland: mannone (good value if chosen), altidore (wait and watch)..sessegnon (7m is good value but not sure if team will do well)

cardiff: brayford (i can't decide on who their backline will be but brayford seems best option), kim (value, good preseason)

swans: entire defence seems pricey, hernandez (i think he is very good value for money), michu/bony (perhaps after their initial bad fixtures)

Only done these teams till now, thoughts on who i may have missed?

Got my team fairly settled at:

    Mignolet (Lewis)

    Mert Coleman Toure (Brayford) (Chester)

    Coutinho Hazard Silva Walcott (Thomas)

    Lukaku Benteke Giroud

But... considering Giroud & Thomas ----> Kim & Bony

I reckon Bony will have a great season with Michu, and I'd really like a better 5th mid to deal with rotation. Put off by Bony's fixtures though. Thoughts?

I think he is 1st choice along with Davies. Not sure on the backline, as they sometimes play 4, and other times 3. Figueroa is also nailed on though.
