As Tottenham gear up for an eye-catching run of fixtures, many Fantasy managers are lining up a route into Andre Villas-Boas’ attacking options. With Roberto Soldado failing to justify a place in our three-man frontlines, attentions have turned to midfield and, despite the re-emergence of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the last few weeks, doubts over his long-term starting role has seen our attentions focus on a couple of the club’s summer signings.

Paulinho and Christian Eriksen have both been subject to much debate on the site this week, with investment rising across the Fantasy games. In this next article for members, we cast an eye over their respective displays for the north London club and also analyse the Brazilian’s performances with and without the former Ajax man, in order to ascertain just what effect – if any – Eriksen has had on his fellow new boy.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yeah, we chatted this on the ScoutCast. Long-term security is the issue I guess. Great as a differential to rotate in but only if you've the luxury of using transfers for such moves.

Great article, but a little too late for my comfort...

I needed to downgrade Eriksen to get in a Liverpool striker and went with Siggy as he had scored more goals than Paulinho... Now that I compared them on Member's area, it looks like
    Paulinho > Siggy > Eriksen

Brought in Siggy for Lampard. Giving HBA 1 more week, because my bench is currently Chester and Brady both who are injured so i can't afford lampard not starting. Also chambers who is not playing. 2.1 in the bank, so will upgrade one of the midfielders.

Moyes said United picked the right man for the job. Best thing he's said so far. So much of what has come out of his mouth has been defeatist, so he is learning. Hopefully that will translate to his players this weekend.

My belief is, if he keeps saying United picked the best man, and that they are a good team, it will rub of on the players, and will bring back the winning mentality. That being said i'm a Liverpool supporter, so hope you get relegated 😉

One thing the article doesn't take into account is how often Eriksen is subbed off compared to Paulinho. His fitness/stamina has always being a bit of an issue even at Ajax. Also Spurs have players that can replace Eriksen from the bench, not so much for Paulinho.

What about Sandro? Or Capoue? They are two fantastic replacements. Also Paulinho, as we are all aware, is an attacking defensive mid. Not the best player to have if seeing out a game. The other two are better options to bring on in that case.

People are saying that they just need to watch the matches and that Eriksen will easily outscore Paulinho, then retorting to any doubters that they must be blind. Touche! From the Tottenham matches I've seen Eriksen has been a great hold up player, shown a lovely touch, where as Paulinho has been making countless clever runs breaking free into the penalty area. With a better finish he'd have netted more than 1 and looks a bigger threat than Eriksen who looks like he gets shattered after 65-70 mins.

    Paulinho FTW.

Repost from last night, hoping to get some opinions 🙂

    This is my current team:

    Mignolet/Harper
    Mertesacker, Zabaleta, Walker, Clyne
    Özil, Mirallas, Sigurdsson
    Suárez (C), Sturridge, Giroud

    (Nolan, Ward, Williams)

My team is ready for this week (took a -4 hit), but I'm unsure what to do over the international break.

    A) Wildcard? Midfield needs sorting out, then there is Zabaleta who needs to be dealt with...also don't want SAS over the long term, really want Lukaku for Sturridge My cheap Palace players could be replaced by better cheapies (Ward -> Faye for example.)
    B) Wait until after the internationals, if there are no injuries, just take a hit and do Nolan, Mirallas -> Michu, Whittingham? (Then Sturridge -> Lukaku in the next gameweek).

WC is also really tempting because of the price rises, if I wait too long, I may not be able to afford the players I want (especially Lukaku and Michu).

    Thanks!

Good lord this season is going terribly, one free transfer this week - who's my priority/priorities to ship out?

    Mignolet, Camp

    Chester, Yanga-Mbiwa, Collins, Turner, Zabaleta

    Ozil, Lamela, Moses, HBA, Ward-Prowse

    Soldado, Rooney, Giroud

I want to ship Lamela, Soldado, WP, Yanga-Mbiwa and Chester at some point soon. Ideally to bring in Amalfitano, Suarez, Oscar, Jenkinson...

Definitely possible, could also afford Chester to Jenkinson. You wouldn't ship Lamela this week? He hasn't been starting, and his price is plummeting.

Brady's out for four weeks though isn't he. That means he'll miss probably one or two games after the international break.

Meanwhile Whittingham only really has one poor fixture right up until gwk 12.

I have to ship one of them for Paulinho

Brady will miss two max (inc. this week). Whittingham's not as good a pick atm imo. One of them has to go

Not very good advice there Nate. Do you have another agenda for people to ditch Whittingham?

Play Turner (NEW) or Coleman (mci) ?

I'm leaning more towards Turner, but Coleman does offer that attacking threat...

If you plan to get Brady back go for Siggy as a short term punt. If you don't plan on getting Brady back, go for Barkley or Ramsey

I love these articles. Worth the price of admission on their own!

I sometimes wish they would end with a bit more of a conclusion though, rather than sitting on the fence. I know that there is an element of opinion, but there are enough stats, etc to make an informed judgement call.

There's enough of people on here blaming others on an incorrect choice when they've asked for advice off strangers but if the articles said something definitive like "dont get Eriksen" and then he scores there would be mayhem.

Why are Arnautovic and Mirallas even considered OOP?

Is it because their Wiki profiles say something about them playing as forward once or twice in their careers?

    Wingers just like Hazard,Dyer,Routledge etc.

The only genuine OOP in the league is Michu

he plays DMF. Actually he'd be getting further forward if he was playing full back

        he's POO

Wilson is such a bad example of OOP. Playing as a defensive midfield has the complete opposite effect where he doesn't even get forward like he would as a full back.

Mirallas plays as a forward and is classified as a midfielder; that's the reason.

Decided to do an analysis on the Everton - Newcastle game to calm myself down as an HBA owner

    http://espnfc.com/en/gamecast/367431/gamecast.html?soccernet=true&cc=4716

I watched the game live so certain assumptions are made from the game. If you look at the average positioning map you can see that HBA is basically the only player in newcastle who provided them with some width. Gouffran plays far too central( and Remy Started of as the CF). When HBA got taken off they had no width whatsoever.. cabaye came on for him and they did not really play with a winger on the left. When Cisse came on for Anita they shifted to a traditional
4-4-2 with Remy and Cisse upfront, Tiote and Cabaye in the centre and Sissoko just wasting time in front of them. If as people on here suspect that they'll play with the same team as in the second half vs everton i suspect we'll see the narrowest team formation in history
Sissoko, Cabaye, Tiote and Anita just cannot all play in the same team.. Barfa should start to give them an outlet and some width

      I hope you right.

It sounds as if Pardew was very happy after he changed his team at the break vs Eve. Shirley he has to give Arfa some gametime? Cisse perhaps dropped?

The reason Ben Afra was removed was because he doesn't make any effort to track back. Reminds me of Taarabt.
