Robin Van Persie grabs the winner for United in a day that sees Arsenal, City and Spurs all fail to find the net. Loic Remy fires Newcastle to victory at the Lane, with Tim Krul proving an unbeatable barrier in goal, whilst Wilfried Bony bags a brace as Swansea and Stoke share the spoils in a six-goal thriller at the Liberty.

Van Persie’s Scoring Streak Extended
The Dutchman scored for the fourth Gameweek in a row as United got the better of league leaders Arsenal. With Per Mertesacker sidelined by flu, Thomas Vermaelen took his place alongside Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the Gunners backline but the duo were unable to prevent their former team-mate from heading home the match-winner in the first period. With the maximum bonus also accrued, Van Persie’s ascent up the forward ranking continues – he is now just two points behind Wayne Rooney in the FPL standings but the latter’s assist also kept his points ticking over, with attacking returns in seven of the last nine now.

Games against Spurs and Everton in the next three look testing but with the schedule looking kinder after the Gameweek 14 clash against the Toffees (NEW, avl, WHM, hul, nor), the United front two look set to be afforded further opportunity to pick up the points. At the back, United’s first clean sheet since Gameweek 4 came at a cost as Nemanja Vidic was subbed off after sustaining a head injury in a collision with David De Gea – after the game, his manager revealed he has gone to hospital for scans but is expected “to be okay”.

Remy the Newcastle Talisman
It’s seven goals in as many games now for the Frenchman after he struck the only goal in yesterday’s win at the Lane. Having beaten Chelsea in the previous Gameweek, Alan Pardew retained a 4-4-2 formation, with Remy partnered by Shola Ameobi up top – incredibly, the 1-0 victory means the Magpies have already won more times on the road this season than they managed over the entirety of 2012/13. With back-to-back wins under their belt, confidence will be high as Newcastle now prepare for a couple of enticing home encounters with Norwich and West Brom – Remy has now played a part in eight of his side’s 15 goals this season and is poised for significant investment ahead of the Canaries clash, with owners of Romelu Lukaku perhaps eyeing up a move for the 7.7 priced forward as Everton’s fixtures take a turn for the worse.

Tottenham’s Toils Up Top Continue
Yesterday’s 1-0 home defeat means Spurs have notched just nine times in the opening 11 matches – only the bottom three have scored less. Foiled time and again by the heroics of Tim Krul in the visitors’ goal, Andre Villas-Boas’ side can consider themselves a little unlucky, though; the Dutchman’s 13 saves is a league record for the season – bettering David Marshall’s 11, which also came against Spurs back in Gameweek 5. Once again, Villas-Boas’ tinkered with his XI, bringing in Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson to the attacking midfield three; further indication he has yet to strike a balance within his starting line-up. Up next for Spurs, City, United, Liverpool and Southampton await in the next six; those still holding the likes of Roberto Soldado will surely be planning a quick escape as Tottenham continue to struggle to penetrate defences.

City’s Away Worries
Manuel Pellegrini’s side rolled up to the Stadium of Light in devastating form, having hit 12 goals in their last couple of matches against Norwich and CSKA Moscow at the Etihad. A resolute display by the hosts derailed Sergio Aguero’s scoring streak of seven goals in the previous five – the Argentine (who was drafted in by over 215,000 Fantasy managers last week) had only failed to pick up points once before when named in the starting line-up, back in Gameweek 3. City have now picked up four points from six road trips – a record superior only to the bottom five – but with back-to-back home games against Spurs and Swansea up next, Aguero’s owners will be optimistic yesterday’s blank was just a temporary setback.

Black Cats Backline Improving
Without a clean sheet all season, the visit of City hardly bred confidence in the Sunderland defence. With Wes Brown and Vito Mannone handed their first league starts of the season and Phil Bardsley shifting over to left-back to cover for the suspended Andreas Dossena, Gus Poyet’s side upset the odds with a vital victory – Bardsley’s match-winner means he has now scored in each of his last two in all competitions and continues his transformation under the new man in charge, after he was frozen out by Paulo Di Canio. With a new-look defence and a shift in formation to 4-1-4-1, Poyet’s side have now conceded just two goals in the last three Gameweeks – having now won each of their last three at home in all competitions, the Uruguayan has undoubtedly made an immediate impact. The upcoming schedule still remains testing – Chelsea and Spurs pay visit in the next four – but if the Wearsiders continue to improve, a kind-looking run from Gameweek 17 onwards could elevate their assets in our thinking.

Bony Starting to Settle
With Michu missing out through knee and ankle problems, Michael Laudrup needed his summer signing to step up against Stoke yesterday. In his first start since Gameweek 8, the Ivorian finally hinted at the form which persuaded his manager to pay £12 million for his services by bagging a brace in the 3-3 draw against Mark Hughes’ side – taking his tally to four goals for the season, double that of the stricken Spaniard. Now down to just 7.4 in FPL, Bony’s display has surely nailed down a starting berth for the Gameweek 12 trip to Fulham and with home games against Newcastle and Hull, supplemented with a trip to Norwich in the next five, he certainly has the platform to push on.

Potter Midfield Pick up the Points
As Mark Hughes’ side brace themselves for a run which includes four home games and a trip to Hull in the next six, a trio of their midfield assets all found the net at the Liberty. Jon Walters, Stephen Ireland and Charlie Adam – courtesy of a last-gasp spot-kick – earned the Potters a point in a game which saw cult favourite Marko Arnautovic withdrawn before the hour mark. Ireland, at just 4.7, has now started the last five in “the hole” under his former City boss and could be a real budget option should be retain his starting berth. Post-match, Hughes revealed Ireland was subbed off with a foot knock, while Arnautovic was withdrawn as he “couldn’t get in the game”. The result means Stoke have now managed a single clean sheet in seven, though, suggesting their defence may struggle to pick up the returns – up top, Peter Crouch chipped in with a pair of assists but with competition fierce in our three-man frontlines, a punt in midfield looks the safest way forward for those who fancy investing in Hughes’ outfit.

ddnt bother to analyse gks much tbh since im pretty happy with migs and marshall whom i bought in gw3

          other top keepers are:
howard with a complicated fixures list
boruc, till when the saints are gonna keep going?
jaskalainen another performance like yesterday adn he might be dropped, also you need to find a good rotation for his away games
          lloris begovic and szezny
all are good options really and you can see that their scores and very close

Nice analysis. I don't trust Soton enough to double up and happy with Clyne. Lloris is a good shout but with their fixtures maybe not as good as Migs.

Didn't realise Marshall is 4.5 tho, not sure it's worth it for a rotator with a 5.5.

keep an eye on mannone 4.2 if he keeps his spot ahead of westwood

Yeah it's a punt on McGregor being out for a bit longer. If I'm going to have a 4.5 backup then I really only want a 4.5/5.0 other to rotate with. If I keep Migs then its got to be a 4.0 non-player.
Thanks for the tip on Mannone too though.

I currently have Migs/Boruc from the start, but the fixtures have been turned with them both having same H & A weeks... So with the money made on Boruc, only .2 extra to get Krul... Migs/Krul rotate very well together....

I really like the look of Remy. Especially as a Lukaku replacement.
But it might be good to note that Remy only had 2 shots last weekend and 1/2 were on target ( Both shots in PB, 1 in 6 yard box and the other in other areas of the PB, like wide areas etc.)

But I guess it doesn't matter when you're banging 'em into the back of the net 😉

    Didn't create any chances either.

    Migs (K. Davis)
    Zabaleta Rat Chico (Chester, Brayford)

    Suarez Rooney Aguero

Is that a mess? I reckon Zaba plays next week and you have two good mids and a pretty much perfect forward line.

How many FTs? I would get rid of HBA - Lallana if you like a bandwagon or Sessegnon then get a different Hull defender as they are pretty resolute in the main and have a great fixture coming up.

Agreed. Once Theo is back I can't see Ramsey getting much time on the wings.

Arteta/Flamini to share the defensive role in the double pivot
Ramsey/Jack to share the more offensive role in the double pivot

Santi Ozil Walcott in attack with Podolski/Chamberlain/Rosicky/Gnabry as back up

FPL says expected back 14th Dec, losing out on the next four GWs. With Silva's fragile nature, I don't expect him back much sooner than that. I am contemplating taking him out for a hit this GW, and if not shipping him next.

At the moment I am leaning towards Silva>Sess for a hit this week, and then do Barkley>Coutinho/Walcott next.

It's a difficult one. I still need to get rid of one of Lukaku, Barkley, Baines because of overexposure to their bad fixtures.

Yeah, if i could afford Rooney, he'd be in. I need a 3rd striker to try and get close to his returns, not sure Lukaku will do that. Shame Benteke and Villa have gone off the boil a bit.

In your case, I'd say Barkley out is the priority, unless he is your easy bench option.

I've benched him the last few weeks, so no worries about keeping him. there's only Januzaj at that price that really interests me and his game time is similar to Barkley's.

Can Arsenal buy him in January?

Or is his loan deal for the full season, which means he can't be bought unless Newcastle agreed to it?

if arsenal are to buy (and thats a BIG IF) then both newcastle and qpr need to be compensated (qpr will get the fee and then pay newcastle to end the loan deal) which is extremely unlikely especially in the january transfer window
i also think that newcastle has an option to buy him if qpr are not promoted or smthn
anw it is very complicated thus very unlikly

Everton's attacking stats are the biggest part of the equation for me. They've turned from just about the top team to just about the worst in the last 4-5 weeks and I just can't explain it.

Remy provides a big fat captaincy option for GW12 too.

Am I the only Arsenal fan who believes Walcott isn't "garbage upfront!" When he played upfront, he had an extra desire to score goals and take his chances as he wants to play up top. He was being trained personally by Henry last year as well, and Henry doesn't waste time with "garbage". And if I'm not wrong the week he scored 26 points against Newcatsle, he was upfront.

What happens with Walcoot is when he receives the ball his first instinct is RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN. By that time he's about 30 yards in front of any other Arsenal player with no hope of joining up with the play.

His pace and acceleration could really come into greater use this year, latching onto through balls from Ozil, I'm sure he will be confident enough to bring the ball into the penalty box to take a shot rather than throw a cross in and hope for the best.

Big oak - He was using Wenger if anything, Arsenal were always going to give him a contract, he demanded to be played up front more as part of his deal, and he proved he can do well there. Clubs like Chelsea were breathing down Arsenal's neck for the transfer of Walcott as well at that time.

At a complete loss with what to do with my team... Really considering wildcarding. Any advice from here would be great?

    Boruc - Speroni
    Kos - Toure - Chico - Rat - Ward
    Ozil - Hazard - Oscar - Ravel - JonWilliams
    Giroud - Rooney - Sturridge

If on WC, would you advise me to try and get Suarez, Rooney, Aguero?

A bit worried about losing Giroud when he is nailed on with decent fixtures in an attacking team.

I think you can get away with a hit or two. I don't think you're going to change more than 4 or maybe 5 players in that team. Necessarily 3 I think - Toure, Giroud/Ozil, Sturridge.

Getting Suarez is a priority I think. I wouldn't mind going with Giroud - Rooney - Suarez.

I think I agree with Keith above (+1'ed). I would do exactly that.

I would WC tbh. There are no major problems/injuries but think you have some fairly big amounts tied up in the wrong players - Toure, Ozil, Oscar, Giroud, Sturridge could all do with changing imo.

Also think now is a good time to use it as teams are more settled, and you have the int break to make a bit of value and avoid the injuries.

How's your Monday morning so far? Give me some opinions if you want to get relaxed from work. 🙂

I still own SAS + Aguero. What to do?

    1: Keep Sturridge … eve / hul / NOR / WHM

He will involve in two friendly matches (both in London) over the international break and straight back to Merseyside derby game. Everton has kept 6 CSs so far - 2nd best in the league though.

    2: Get Rooney … car / tot / EVE / NEW

He will involve England games too. He'll be back for a game with Cardiff on 24th with eyes on an important away game with Leverkusen on 27th that United could seal the qualification if they won. Any chance of rest?

    3: Get Remy … NOR / WBA / swa / mun

Best fixtures over the next two games, IMO. He will be with France squad for their play-off with Ukraine. Anyway, I believe he's 3rd choice behind Benzema and Giroud and should spend most time on the bench and fit. Umm.. Does he have some problem with the court?

8 points spent unwisely too. He only made them back because of the Hazard penalty. I don't realise understand why he prioritised GJ as a transfer to fix his team when it should really have been Suarez.

It's getting tougher by the minute for Mark to acquire Suarez with his tag being that high. To get Suarez in, he's got to lose one or two great players. I'm actually interested in hearing his opinion on Suarez and why he didn't get him in early. I hope it's not the Sturridge or Liverpool cover he backs up with 'cause that simply just isn't worth it. Suarez is a big player like Bale and Aguero kind. A must have as proven last few seasons.

Looking at potentially taking an 8 point hit this week, is that too much?

Definitely going Sturridge to Aguero for free, question is do I do either of the following for -4 each?

    A: Lukaku to Remy

B: Wilson to Bardsley (considering I have to play two of Shaw(ars), Coleman (LIV) and Dawson(mci) otherwise and it's long term move to get rid of non starter)

The reason he hasn't played the last two is the opposition. Pardew needed to field players who put the work in defensively and track back vs the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham. Against poorer opposition where he expects his team to boss possession, Ben Arfra is an essential part of the team. He'll play.
