Having announced a couple of new cup competitions last week, we thought we’d give you another heads-up as the weekend’s deadline edges closer. Not only do we have the ninth instalment of our open-to-all cup competition, as sponsored by Paddy Power, we also have the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV up and running over the season run-in:

If you’re familiar with our competitions you can get your entries in right now via the links below. If you’re new to all this, read on for an FAQ on the competitions.

Enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

Are there prizes?

As mentioned, Paddy are supplying the competition with some great prizes and, once again, we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX is as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

For the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV, the prizes are:

Winner – £200 Amazon voucher.
Runner-up – £100 Amazon voucher

How do the cup competitions work?

Our cup competitions are very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall standings will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying rounds for both cups will take place in Gameweek 27 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday February 24 will be entered into the qualifying rounds. In the Paddy Power XI cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1016 (plus eight previous winners who will earn a bye, if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 27 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 28. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions. The same rules apply in the Members Cup, although we will restrict this to 512 teams in the first round.

How do I enter?

You can enter the Paddy Power IX Cup via the entry form here.

Members can also enter the Members Cup IV via this entry form.

In both cases you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming.

You can check that you are entered the Paddy Power IX Cup via this list and this list for the Members Cup.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying rounds of both cups will be published on or around Tuesday February 25 and then weekly from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

These Cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule

Paddy Power Cup XI Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

FFS Members Cup Round Dates

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 27
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Gameweek 29 Skipped Due to Potential Blanks
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 33
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 34
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 35
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 36
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 37

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round of both cups will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter (although it is for the Members Cup) – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

    IMPORTANT GAMEWEEK 29 STUFF 🙂

Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned already via an article/hot topic, but I guess this has gone a bit under the radar.

It was announced today that the Hull vs Brighton FA Cup replay would be played on MONDAY, as the FA has said that DOMESTIC FIXTURES CANNOT CLASH WITH EUROPEAN FIXTURES.

So what, you say - I don’t care about a boring FA Cup replay?

Well, this could have big ramifications for the Gameweek 29 fixtures.

It has been suggested that Newcastle v Everton and Liverpool v Sunderland could be played midweek of GW29.

HOWEVER, if the above is to be kept to, these fixtures cannot be played on Tuesday or Wednesday due to Champions League fixtures. If an FA Cup replay is kept away from the Champions League nights, I would be very surprised if the Premier League fixtures were to clash.

THUS, there is the possibility of these fixtures being played on the Monday night.

BUT… I would say this is impossible.

It is one thing doing this to Hull, but I cannot see them doing it to Liverpool & Everton. Everton are due to play on the Sunday - so won’t play back-to-back days obviously. Liverpool play Chelsea on the Saturday - I’d be shocked if the Prem scheduled another game 2 days later.

ALSO… Premier League rules suggest the clubs have a say in when the fixture is played. None of the clubs involved would choose Monday night:
“The FA Board have the power at any time thereafter to change the date and kick-off time of a League Match, and before exercising such power the Board will consult with and TAKE INTO ACCOUNT ANY REPRESENTATIONS MADE BY THE CLUBS participating in the League Match in question and any other Club or Clubs which may be affected thereby.”

THEREFORE… I would say these fixtures are definitely out of Gameweek 29.

    To Conclude 🙂 :
    WHO WILL PLAY IN GW29?
    West Brom v Man Utd
    Cardiff City v Fulham
    Crystal Palace v Southampton
    Norwich v Stoke City
    Chelsea v Tottenham

    WHO WON’T PLAY?
    Arsenal v Swansea
    Man City v Aston Villa
    Newcastle v Everton
    Liverpool v Sunderland
    West Ham v Hull City

Just don’t hold me to it. 😉

so I've tried to find out.

…and by that I mean I like the "educated conjecture"…it's interesting to read (for me).

I'm thinking over plans - but not plotting firmly until the facts are there….just playing out transfer scenarios for fun.

Enjoyed reading the post more that "I've got 74 points with 2 to play. Green arrow ?"

I know others will disagree - but that's simply grease to the wheels of a good forum 🙂

All the games can be played at a later date with no issue, it's really only Man City that will have a complicated fixture list if they go to the Semis of the FA Cup AND manage to go through in the CL..seeing as they likely won't, I think everything will be fine..will just be a lot of DGWs between now and the end

Demichelis was actually very good IMO.

He had no other option when that pass was slid in to Messi and no CB in the world is as quick as that kid - Demi made a good call, took one for the team and it should've been a free kick.

I don't rate Demichelis, but that was not a performance due criticism.

i agree he was okay before that moment. but he should have let messi go and kept city with 11 on the pitch.

and the salient point i was trying to make was that with the money they have they should have a world class CB pairing

yep. Its been a point of criticism most of the season.

Thiago Silva with Kompany, or even Chiellini. Cock-Out money spent and a worldie pairing, i'd love to see it, but it would ruin the league. At least theres a nice little chink in the armour still...

Also, fair play rules and all that. Be nice if teams started working to a sustainable model.

My GW29 situation is dire, 4 players and maybe a GK if Hull lose the replay so Adrian plays.
This on the back of getting hurt by the weather problems last time out.

How does this look for a -4?

    Out:
    Bardsley, Gnabry, Benteke

    In:
    Olson, Puncheon Adebayor

Looks as if I need to do it today, can't afford it once both Adebayor & Olson rise.

I'm going to have to bench: Suarez, Sturridge for 29, so need to get to a 541 or 451.

Next week bring in Chambers for Kolarov, and someone for Yaya.

    Mannone | Adrian
    Coleman | Kosc | Cahill | Kolarov | Bardsley
    Mata | Yaya | Haz | Lallana | Gnabry
    Suarez | Sturridge | Benteke

    Thanks.

Realistically, he won't play in Europa match, but I agree it's not worth risking. I wouldn't get him anyway, actually. Norwich away doesn't inspire, nor does GW29 at Stamford Bridge, followed by NLD in GW30.

Not totally unbiased. As an Arsenal supporter, I sort of hate him.

Good points. His fixtures for the next couple of weeks don't scream points. However, he does have a fixture gw 29 and I think thats why most are getting him in.

Went a bit wrong in my planning for GW29. I'll have the 2 FTs I need, but not sure who to transfer out:

    A. Koscielny
    B. Coleman
    C. Silva
    D. Suarez
    E. Sturridge
    F. Keep one transfer and play with only 10

A is going at the moment, due to poor fixtures, but which two would you do?

I have the exact same MF except Gnarby is Puncheon. I'm totally stuck this week, as I have 2FT as well and need to use one to plan ahead.

I think you need to swap Clyne. Is Fonte out of reach? Yoshida then? Its boring and sideways, but you can't mess with that offense this week -- there are points in there.

Or Rooney out. Ade has been bringing in some nice points.

    Boruc - Davis
    Ward - Williamson - Chester - Azpi - Demel**
    Haz - Yaya*** - Mata* - Lallana - Colback***
    Suarez** - RVP - Sturridge**

    2 FT, 0.0m

    *GW28 blank
    **GW29 blank (Demel likely)

    GW27: Williamson > MOlsson today

    GW28: Yaya + Colback > Paulinho/Nolan (depending) + Noone with both my FTs and play a 4-4-2

GW29: save and play a 4-5-1 so I can have 2 FTs to work with again

    thoughts?

      Thats some cheap backline!

Olsson is good pick, have had him all year - Norwich solid at home.

Noone is good and cheap, not sure about Paulinho/Nolan.

      What about snodgrass or puncheon?

Captaincy remaining firmly on Zlatan til the end of the GW, now just a matter of the other players performing.

You are set for 29, potentially 9 at the moment with 4 transfers it seems.

You could actually get 11 out and carry a transfer forward to gw 30.

Yaya and Kos will have to go but ok for this week.

Johnson has a blank but will have 2 dgw's thereafter, so consider keeping.

        I'd keep RVP.

    Ideas? Suggestions? Advice? Anything?

    Boruc

    Ivanovic - Cahill - Reid - Bardsley - Mariappa

    Hazard - Eriksen - Mirallas - Mata - Noone

    Sturridge - Dzeko - Suarez

    3.7 in the bank.

    1FT

My situation at the back is pretty dire. Reid not breaking into the team, Mariappa seems to be done for good, Bardsley with 2 blanks coming up.

The team seems to be in a mess..

You are going to have 3 FTs between now and GW29 so this is how I would play it:

      1. GW 26 - Eriksen to Lallana

After GW27 matches check situation of Dzeko and Reid. If any of them got didn't play this is who you should transfer next. If both didn't play Dzeko is your priority

      2. GW27 - Dzeko to Adebayor or Reid to Ward

      3. GW 28 - Do the transfer that you did not do in GW28

This would be your team for GW 29

      Boruc

      Ivanovic Cahill Ward

      Hazard Lallana Mata Noone

      Adebayor

This allows you to field 9 players which will be more than a lot of people.

Pellegrini: 'This referee did Barca v Milan game at group stage & made an important error against Barca. Today he rearranged [put it right]'

His conspiracy theory seems to be that ref made mistake against Barca in group game and was making up for it tonight. This is Mourinho-esque

Sturridge pouts his lips like a catwalk model and does an awkward version of an 80's breakdance move - it's probably the most gayest thing seen at Anfield since Torres turned up wearing a pair of Ugg boots.

    My current team is:

    Mannone Adrian

    Koscielny Cahill Fonte Ward Bruce

    Hazard Yaya Mata Lallana Mutch

    Adebayor Suarez Sturridge

After GW29 I have a bit of a predicament as I want Aguero in.

    My options are:

    1. Adebayor --> Aguero and ignore Coleman

    2. Adebayor --> Aguero and Koscielny --> Coleman and downgrade Mata to make funds for the Coleman transfer

    3. Adebayor --> Aguero and Koscielny --> Coleman and Fonte --> Chamber

    4. Sturridge --> Aguero and Koscielny --> Coleman and Mata --> Gerrard

At the moment I like option 3 as it gives me spare funds for future transfers and allows me to keep my strong midfield and attack.
