With the World Cup on pause for a couple of days, we take time to delve into the domestic data from the 2013/14 season. In the first of a series of features focussing on the KPI statistics in the Members area, we assess the most improved forwards over the season gone by, listing the main players in accordance with goal attempts from inside the box:

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or change in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain each player’s form, whether it be an improvement or decrease in displays on the pitch. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

For the purpose of this series of articles, we analyse the previous two seasons as a means of comparison:

  If Ozil hand't snuck that goal at the end of the Algeria game his points total would be shocking. Seems his Arsenal form has made its way to the WC.
  
  In the generous scoring McD's game his totals have been 4, 4, 7, 9 (with a last minute goal against a team throwing everyone forward).

        I basically have a 4-4-2 formation with 4 dutch players in reserve. I dont fancy any mids most have done nothing. Defence was my best scorers last round. taking the punt. Thanks for the input though

As amazingly surprising and nailbiting this WC has been, I'd admit that the top teams have mostly prevailed so far.

Not everyday do 8 group toppers move into the QF, and even among them, except Costa Rica and partly, Netherlands, all were favorites to win the group.

Somehow makes me feel that we will see Brazil, Netherlands, Germany and Argentina in the semis.

    I keep flip-flopping on him and was convinced this morning I wouldn't be picking him. Colombia is going to run circles around him and he will be seeing minus points for al the fouls with no chance to bomb forward - 5 pts max on the way.
    
    Or, he is the foil and bosses the game. For Brazil to win, he needs to play well.

My question is this? I want to get rid of Alderweireld and Rodriguez and replace with Indi Martins & Vlaar so I'm loaded with Dutch & Argie's, cos I'm convinced (gambling) they'll both win their QFs. However they will meet in the semis! Is this a problem?

Southampton to be relegated this season? By the time half of there first xi have been sold they will have ripped the heart out of that team. Feel a little sorry for Saints fans as this was the best side that they have produced that I can remember and it isn't just a couple of payers who have gone. They will e glad J Rod got injured or I suspect he would have been gone this summer too.
