With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the  Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please encourage those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial lineups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

First up, I’ve decided to post my current lineup. I’ve opted for a squad that has a spread of money across the positions, with two rotating goalkeepers and a strong focus on the four to five teams I think are most likely to profit from goals and clean sheets. It also shows a strong bias towards those teams with favourable early fixtures and, hopefully, it’s set up to be flexible enough to make quick early repairs.

Guzan (Krul)

Terry Evans NTaylor (Wisdom, Duff)

Ramsey Hazard Mata Henderson (Albrighton)

Rooney Adebayor Dzeko

0.5m in the bank

My main deliberation surrounds whether to go with Diego Costa up front and and an 8.5 midfielder, probably Rahaeem Sterling, instead of my current selection of Emmanuel Adebayor and Eden Hazard. That gives me a Gameweek 2 option to possibly swap one of Jordan Henderson or Sterling for Gylfi Sigurdsson, although I’m happy to keep both those Liverpool midfielders if a transfer is urgently required elsewhere. I do feel that Hazard will be the top source of Chelsea points, however.

Alternatively, I could stick with Hazard and a 9.0 striker. Of this group, the main options seem to be Romelu Lukaku and Adebayor. This also gives me flexibility to hop on any emerging strikers who show promise for 8.5 or less. As you can see, I’m currently favouring this option.

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMT’s throughout the day on this article.

16/1 seventh favourites to win the championship.

I think there are better options out there, maybe try upgrading to Fulham or Derby

Most important to acknowledge those who have taken the time to give constructive help or advice imo.
It makes people more likely to help others too.

Seems to be working really well. 12 pages of RMTs since it launched at 11:30am today full of great advice and lots of different teams. Lots of thanks as well from posters.

You should try posting your own RMT - you never know...may get some good advice on some new differentials you hadn't considered.

I feel it is better to go without an Arsenal defender for the start of the season. Look at their fixtures up to GW7, are you going to be happy to play Debuchy against Everton, City, Spurs and Chelsea? With the added factor of the BFG coming back in at some point and maybe unsettling it all. Just something worth considering!

Out of interest, how do you see the BFG unsettling the backline? He plays CB so wouldn't exactly be challenging Debuchy for starts and with Mert back in the side I'd be a lot more optimistic in terms of clean sheets than without him. It's fair to say the fixtures for the first 7 are though though, I've personally gone with Debuchy because I don't particularly like transferring defenders in and out early doors as I reckon there will be more pressing bandwagons in midfield popping up early doors.

He shouldn't unsettle it, but there is always the chance. He's not even played with Debuchy yet as far as I am aware? Fair enough point, I would feel more comfortable replacing a defender than a big hitter in midfield or upfront.

I'm a bit unsure about the RMT's with Vert - cracking player, obviously, but I'd prefer to wait until we see how his teams play

Then again, with Vert and Lamela, I'm guessing you're a Spurs fan

No, lol, I just fancy Vert as he's absolutely nailed and he could get attacking returns... also not that many people have him... I have Man U covered with De Gea, not 100% if Shaw with start... and Chelsea look rotation prone so I will wait and see

Not a bad team Jonty. If it was me I'd definitely go with Costa and Sterling instead of Ade and Hazard.

Sterling imo is going to have a breakout season and will compete alongside some of the other big hitting midfielders such as Hazard. Liverpool will look to Sterling more now that Suarez has gone, I believe he will relish the opportunity to help fill those massive boots.

Also I firmly believe Ade's spot is under serious threat. With a new manager there is no guarantee that Ade will continue up front, there is a chance a new striker will sign and there is a significant chance there will be rotation amongst the forward ranks. For me, that makes Ade a little too risky.

Yep I think you could be right. Its Hazard that sways me towards the former and also Sterling has some tough early fixtures. Sterling will certainly be in my team at some point - but possibly not until gwk 4.

Hazard also started slowly last season and he hasn't done anything this pre-season so far. Belgium also made it to the quarter finals of the world cup, Hazard had 5 appearances (368 minutes) for 2 assists. Compare to Fab, $1M cheaper, better pre-season form, may play in the hole at the start and Spain knocked out in group stages of world cup.

Yeah, at 11m you expect at least what he scored last year. But then again it's all "relevant", and is he still scores the most of all the midfielders by 50pts, it doesn't really matter if it's only 180pts.

Hi people, to help you choose your defence, I've worked out the chance of a clean sheet for every game in the first 3 GWs based on bookies odds. (Purely for convenience, I used SkyBet for GW1 and then BetBright is the only firm giving odds on GWs 2 & 3).

Theres a lot of information here - it may be of use to some people, if it isn't then by all means ignore, but lets be honest, the bookies are a bit better at predicting this kind of thing than we are 🙂

    • The number written next to each team is the % chance that they will keep a clean sheet
    • Odds are normally biased towards the house by around 8% of the % chance stated, which has NOT been taken into account, so the true values are higher than the ones here e.g. if it says 50% here, the real chance is closer to 54%

    Man Utd 52.4 v Swansea 14.3

IMO, 9/10 teams going for 3-5-2 is having the same problem. No way (IMO) u only want one premium striker. What happens when (!) Costa, Aguero, Sturridge or RvP goes mental? Chances are u will have to downgrade 2 players (taking hits) to get one of them in.

The point is that this looks so flexible. The same can be said of Yaya

If I go 3-4-3, these are the changes I could make

        Sanchez + Zamora => Costa + Wanyama

Agree, but my point is that (IMO) u need 2 premium strikers no matter what system u are playing. 🙂
It´s not a bad team, and instead u have the premium Hazard+Sanchez that could turn out great for u.

    Hello lads.
I read a suggestion on here yesterday that said explain your choices for each player, so I'll do a RMT with my reasoning behind player selection.

    Begovic / Krul
    Vertonghen / Trippier / Clyne / Ward / Ferdinand
    Sanchez / Eriksen / Silva / Sigurdsson / Colback
Rooney / Diego Costa / Weimann

Overall, I believe my two goalkeepers work well with each other.
Begovic gives me the Stoke cover that I need as I couldn't decide between Huth/Shawcross as defenders.. Krul is in because he is cheap for what he is at 4.5M, and Newcastle will improve this season IMO.

Vertonghen personally will have a much better season under Poch as he won't be in a sulk.. and he should be back to his old ways (which he scored quite high points as a CB)

Trippier is on Burnley's set pieces and that's always where these relegation fodder teams score the majority of their goals, wether it be assists or goals he is scoring I am counting on him grabbing a few points.

Clyne should be a starter at Southampton, and whatever people say Southampton won't be horrendous this year - by no means will they be as a good as last season but they should be fine and Clyne should be a good pick up.

Ward is self explanatory as many people have Ward, Crystal Palace cover and it was a toss up between Ward, Hangeland or Mariappa.. I went with the safe bet.

Finally, Ferdinand.. I think Redknapp should keep QPR up this season, and I believe they will be dangerous from set pieces with Caulker, Rio and Austin lurking in the box - hoping on a few clean sheets and a few goals from Rio.

Sanchez is in the team because he is a midfielder who will probably play up front. Simples. Very good for Chile, very good for Barcelona and very good for Udinese. Not proven, granted, but good players like him should be able to just settle. As a Spurs fan I'm worried for how good Sanchez could be this season.

Silva gets into the team because he's a consistent points scorer since he's joined the Premier League, injury prone yes and has off moments but generally he is good, and I need Man City coverage in the midfield/attack, as they score goals for fun and Yaya is too expensive, Aguero is too risky and Dzeko/Jovetic debate is annoying me.

Eriksen grabbed assists and goals last season playing out of position for a bad coach.. this season I'm expecting fireworks from Eriksen and for his value he's a steal, although deciding between him and the new Lamela who's in great pre-season form was difficult.

Sigurdsson is in most teams on here, for obvious reasons. Swansea will play through him and he's the perfect example of a big fish in a little pond.. he will grab lots of assists and goals from the hole this season, had a great stint at Swansea before he joined Spurs so more of the same please.

Colback is on set pieces from what I've read on here, that's a big enough reason alone to have him instead of the generic Wanyama/Albrighton, which baffles me. 5.0m is a steal if he plays this season.

Rooney will boss this season, always a great points scorer in FPL. Van Gaal have got United playing well and scoring goals, Rooney is back in his favourite position but will naturally drop deeper anyway. He will boss this season. Simples.

DIego Costa is unproven and I have no idea how he will be this season, but he will get tonnes of service from brilliant players, and he is a lethal finisher and has a knack for getting goals. Should be fine and come the end of the season he will be in the top 3 goal scorers IMO.

Weimann is a great cheap option and when called upon I don't expect anything amazing but watching him last season he had his moments I suppose, not really any other options besides Vokes or Ings or someone bang average.

    /10?
Any suggestions for changes please boys, it's no where near finished IMO.

    Cheers

Good team and I agree with your views on players. However the defence is weak and you may get stung with no united City Chelsea defensive coverage. 7/10. I'd be inclined to downgrade silva to free up money for defence

When you have players that are rare on here, it's goes one of 2 ways.
You'll be stuck playing Weimann or Colback most weeks. Villa after GW3 have hard fixtures.
You have 4 x 5+ defs. Perhaps excessive.
      Good luck 🙂

Always seem to own Snod at the wrong time, and although I'm not sold on Hendo his nailed-onliness in Liverpool's team makes him seem a decent bet at 6m bursting from midfield. Punch is certainly on my watchlist though, thanks.

      My three thoughts are :

Would like the D better if you could upgrade to Caulker & Ward

If you have Siggy and Hendo in midfield, will you want to play. 4-3-3 sometimes and how will you do it with that defense

If a mid-priced midfielder emerges that you want to get, where is the money coming from to buy them without sacrificing one of your premium mids ?

Sorry, forgot to mention I have 1m in the bank, so that first upgrade would be possible and it will hopefully afford me enough to jump on a mid-priced bandwagon should one emerge.

    @HEADLESS

    A RMT please.

    DDG

    Azpi - Debuchy - V Aanhott

    Mata - Ramsey - Henderson - Eriksen

    Jovetic - Costa - Rooney

    Hamer - Marney - Coloccini - Baird

    ---------

Azpi could be a rotation headache. Barring in mind he might play both sides of defence. Jovetic is a good pick, at least for time being. Once Aguero's back, he could end up as an impact player from the bench tho, so keep that in mind. I am also not so convinced about Rambo's possible spoils while there will be no Oezil in the teamsheet at the start of the season, which Wenger already said once or twice. This is just my observation from the last campaign, but Rambo is performing way much better with german international in the Arsenal side. They seem to understand each other quite well. Constantly looking for link up play. To back this up with some stats:

Ramsey with Oezil in the first XI: 9 goals [out of 10 for the whole season]; 6 assists [out of 9]

Is it something with tactics involved or both players roles on the pitch, dunno, but the general impression which stuck with me seeing Arsenal playing last term is that Ramsey is better player with Oezil hovering in the final third. Not without him.

    Cheers.

good team...although keep an eye out for Giroud...he's woefully low on form post World Cup and may take a game or two to get going.

Also I think you should consider downgrading one of your defenders. Sagna is far from nailed on...use that money to upgrade Tiote or El Ahamadi...just one bench fodder midfielder is to be advised. Also with Tiote - brace yourself for yellow cards and suspensions.

Really not keen on Tiote and ElAhmadi, neither will offer fantasy returns.

Sagna is also not nailed on so I'd look to downgrade him to a budge option and free up funds to improve that midfield.

Mertesacker won't start at the beginning of the season either, Wenger has said those involved late on in the world cup (such as German players) won't be ready for the start of the season.

Bruce is another player who cannot be assured of a spot, I would expect him to be rotated.

        6/10

Rooney is crucial from the start, Herrera looks like the man to assist the assister (quality player, not FPL suited though) and Wickham is depressing.

        get a 4.0 5th defender, davies -> 4.5 and redistribute the herrera/Johnson/wickham cash IMO.

Maybe go without Studge for those tricky openers (Rooney in)

Your mid needs a lot of work. Where has the money gone? Sturridge may not be fit, Wickham a punt. No need for a 4.5 with DDG.

      Thoughts on this?

      Trying something different.

      Krul

      Evans - Luis - Wisdom

      Fabregas - Ramsey - Sterling - Mata - Siggurdson

      Diego Costa - Rooney

      (Bojan - Duff - Upson)

      That mid tho.

      6.5/10

your midfield is a bit weak, downgrade caulker and davies to cheaper options and get herrera and johnson out. too punty imo

Rethink the midfield immediately. Forward line is fine, not sure on Sturridge just yet.

What about this then? I must have changed it a billion times!

      3-4-3

      Krul (Hamer)
      Terry Cameron Evans (Wisdom, Upson)
      Mata Sanchez Fabregas Sterling (Albrighton)
      Rooney Lukaku Bojan

      Any help much appreciated!

Id say that was a bit too far in downgrading the DEF, but it looks better

37 mill on GK+DEF is too much, Mannone/Clyne/Caulk/Davis can all be replaced (not saying all should)
      Herrera -> Mata/Cesc/Ramsey
      Wickham is awful

    Rate my Defence..
I expect most to say not nailed on enough..
    Good enough fixtures anyway.
Chambers, Evans, B Davies, Wisdom, Cameron

Chambers, Will def start the season and if he keeps up his form- may not be dropped.

Evans- That bit of certainty. LVG will make sure they dont concede too many v weak opposition early anyway.

Ben Davies, I don't think Spurs bought him to sit on the bench.

Wisdom, Has started back to back games and I doubt he will be dropped

Cameron,Captained Stoke in a couple of games pre season and was basically an ever present last season.

    What do ye think??

Chambers will probably play CB the first game so could be in for a price rise. I don't think Wisdom and Ben Davies are completely nailed but they're safe choices. Not sure about Cameron though, as he's been linked with numerous transfers out of the club and Stoke have bought Bardsley.

Ryan, maybe you could give this article a read. Beautifully written too.
Sheds some light on Hazard's poor form later in the season

    Mata Ramsey Eriksen Albrighton
    Rooney Costa Dzeko

Subs: Myhill , Wisdom , Wasilewski , El Ahmadi

I know Baines is expensive but week 1 looks ok. I could downgrade Baines to
Jagielka which would free up some money to bring Siggy in for El Ahamdi. Although Routledge might be an interesting option if he plays up front up front in a front 3 for some fixtures. He scored two in that position in pre season at Reading on Saturday.

Think they're the way to go for the first few weeks. As a Liverpool fan I'm very tempted to get Sterling but I think United players will be essential to get off to a good start.

You're going big in some areas and completely neglecting important positions in your squad. Your defence really needs a bit more attention man. Also, if you're rotating Siggy & Bojan, you need to upgrade Albrighton.

Imo Terry to Azpi & Sturridge to Costa, use money to upgrade defenders.
