The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

      Even as an Arsenal fan, no. Likelihood is once Ozil is back He'll get the number 10 slot.

      As much as it pains me to say it, Arteta is going to get game time now he is club captain.

      So the midfield 3 will probably be Ramsey - Arteta - Ozil long term with Cazorla coming inside from the left.

    Right... Some advice if you don't mind on what is looking like my finalised team...

    Foster (Guzan)
    Terry - Lovren - Debuchy (Hutton - Wisdom)
    Fabregas - Ramsey - Sterling - Eriksen (Shelvey)
    Sturridge - Giroud - Bojan

    Only just downgraded my fourth choice defender to another 4M pick to allow Luis to be upgraded to Terry. Nervous about having nowhere to go if there are not enough 4M defenders starting.

    I was also really tempted to take a punt on Berahino instead of Bojan, as a differential, and I have a feeling about him, but Bojan/Shelvey rotate well.

    Thoughts people???

      Solid, very solid. Bojan is getting a lot of love on here, but the only other player for the same price that I'd consider is Fletcher

        What are your thoughts on Berahino? I was tempted to go with him any. He'd certainly be more of a differential.

      I would want some United attacking cover with their fixtures. Maybe Mata for Ramsey since you have Giroud.

      For me your defence looks quite expensive. And also I'd have Green instead of Guzan for a 4.5m goalkeeper as his fixtures are better.

        You'd stick with the Green comment, despite the excellent rotation of WBA/Villa?

        Also, if I tell you this is a team designated to be entered in a Liverpool Supporters Club league, where I can't pick Everton or Utd players, you reckon it looks better then?

          Well I guess I don't see Villa keeping that many clean sheets that's all. I would say there are better rotations with Foster such as Fabianski. You've got 6/6 in home games.

          Also if you can't have any ManU or Everton players then I'd want some ManC cover. Maybe Jovetic or Silva instead of one of the Liverpool players.

    What's your opinion on this team to start the season?
    (Going for a 3-5-2 formation for the first 5-6 GWs at least).
    Tried to squeze in a few "differentials"/gambles. Not to sure about gametime for Azpil, Chambers or Giroud...Considering Baird in place of Hutton because of OOP, but will he play?

    1m in bank.

    Defence is pretty weak, but I'm confident Manquillo and Luis will play, becoming the cheapest regular in both defences, hopefully increasing in price as other buy them.

    Cash in bank to change if I'm wrong, or spend elsewhere if it works out ok.

        You're probably right, might change Manq/Luis to Lovren/Cahill using the 1m in bank, will be annoyed if the punts would have worked though.

      Bruce is a dodgy pick, if they shift to a 442 he will be dropped. Courtous could also be a risk too far, we don't know who their main keeper is yet.

    Mata - fixtures are really easy and he is playing in his favourable position. Had a great pre season

    Matic- Im not so sure about him but he is cheap
    Siggy - We have seen what he can do at previous spells at Swansea and while he was at Spurs. Great free kick taker
    Sterling- He was a real threat in pre season and will step up with the departure of Suarez

    Costa - Chelsea actually have a good striker, says it all really.
    Rooney - Obvious choice with fixtures, form and pedigree.
    Bojan- Had a great pre season

      Looks alright. Not sure Hutton is a good pick with his fixtures. I think you are relying too much on Krul as well.

        Having an experiment with your advice!

        Replacing Bojan with a 7m pound striker would leave me with a defence of.

        De gea,

        Clyne, cahill , van aan

        with Marney replacing eriksen.

        Who would be your striker of choice for that price and does that look better?! : S

      I agree with Hoser, unless u fully commit to 3-5-2 it will be difficult to get a 3rd heavy hitter up front

          I would. Erik to 4.5m bench fodder. Upgrade bojan to Giroud/Bony etc

      Keep fiddling with my team today.

      Satisfied with GK Mid and Strikers. Can't settle on a defence though. Going to play a 3-4-3 and have £26m for the 5 defenders, at the moment I have:

      Terry - Lovren - Gibbs (Bruce - Gamboa)

      downgrade to Che CB but then u lose the flair

      for 7.0 I'm still taking Baines and the restarts+pens

      hate the subs had El he's off Bruce is on apparently

    Is it too riskey playing with just one keeper? Also need a striker for 5.0 or less so Bent just seems the most likely to start. Will be on my bench.

      Hi all,

      Feeling pretty happy with this side now. Couple of differentials in there.

      Not sure why people going for Lovren, even as a red myself I can't see clean sheets galore, although here's hoping, and I'll join everyone on the wagon.

      Thoughts please?

      Get rid of Ward now imo. Not worth 5.0 as there's no certainty Palace will remain rocks at home.

      Would also downgrade Cesar and upgrade Cesc to Hazard. Cesar is prone to rotation, and would be gutting seeing a 6.0 defender getting 1's. It's also easier to go from 10.0>9.0 that 9.0>10.0 if one out performs the other.
