With Gameweek 1 concluded, itβs time to delve a little deeper into the data in our first “Big Numbers” article for members of the campaign. We analyse the display of Arsenalβs new wide man against Palace, the QPR front pairing at home to Hull, Liverpoolβs ever-improving youngster, Southamptonβs delivery under Ronald Koeman and Unitedβs weekend scorer in the 2-1 home loss to Swansea.
Caulker > Clyne?
My reasoning is QPR do not look like they will keep cleanies this year. Caulker relies off free kicks to score his goals and Barton's delivery is absolutely atrocious based off that Hull game. Southampton on the other game looked really solid at the back, especially with Wanayma to shield them, he was brilliant against Liverpool. Clyne was a constant threat down the wing and showed with his goal. Is it a good move?Open ControlsYes.
Open ControlsI think QPR were quite unlucky to not keep a clean this past weekend, if I'm honest. Only goal allowed was off a set piece and I thought they defended pretty decently. I think they have as good a shot as any of the mid-table / lower-half of the table teams at keeping a clean sheet. That said, I do prefer Clyne, but I would maybe think it too lateral of a move to do right now, and would not advise it.
Open ControlsI think Barton just had a bad game. His delivery is normally better. However, i'd probably still do this transfer.
Open ControlsI think clyne is the better option though not sure it is worth a transfer
Open ControlsI have both of them in my team, going for scoring points rather than CS's. That said, I reckon QPR with a back 3 will keep plenty of cleanies this season. Shame that Ferdinand has totally forgotten how to defend corners though, stupid duckface

John 15:5Open ControlsThe path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Jesus hates figs!
Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.
Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves.
Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.

Who to play in UFPL, Wanyama or Barry?
Open ControlsBarry
Open Controls
Transferred out Mata for Fab, and felt like it's the best thing I did!
Very pleased with it before Fab went up 0.1.
Have been tossing between Mata and Fab for GW1 and Mata won on fixtures, but looking at the overall performance I struggle to see him do much even with the easy fixtures.
Fab at corners also boosted his appeal.Open Controlshope it works out for you
Open ControlsMata was on corners last match
Open ControlsI'm aware.
Open Controls
Same here.
This is what clinched it for me: http://www.squawka.com/news/how-man-uniteds-juan-mata-struggled-to-get-going-in-favoured-role-against-swansea/160019
Mata got 3 "chances created", but 2 of those were corners (of which he took 9, with 7 cleared), and the other one was a sideways pass in midfield for a tame Rooney long-range effort. Not exactly great "chances" when you compare them to the 3 that Fabregas created. Different levels.
Fab has 5 giants to aim for on corners too which helps. Mata has Jones lol
I only chose Mata because I was unsure how Mourinho would use Fab in his midfield, but its clear that he will alternate with Oscar as the most advanced mid so will definitely get more points.
Value is another nice bonus too.Open ControlsToday's only early Wednesday here, in the next few days I could see more selling Mata for similarly priced midfielders. Suspect most will come on Friday and Saturday when those people who look at their team once a week make changes.
Don't want to hold on to Mata hoping he won't drop that 0.1 which will really hurt.Open Controlsit'll hurt even more now that rises are harder to come by with the format change
Open ControlsCould you elaborate?
Open ControlsJudging by the fact that Siggy didn't rise to 0.2 today, it would seem they've upped the threshold for players rising (some are saying the 0.2 threshold is double the 0.1, and 0.3 is treble... like it used to be apparently).
If that is true, then there won't be as much volatility in prices. With that in mind, gaining back lost value will be harder since price rises are fewer and further between.Open Controls
it sounds like you're trying too hard to convince yourself, just do what you want

Open Controls
Don't put *air quotes* around Chances Created.
It's an OPTA stat, like a goal attempt.
So, both Mata & Fabregas had 3 chances created.
This isn't too knock Fabregas but, more to tell you how silly you're being by subjectively sorting this stastic to create a narrative you prefer.Open Controls
Who should I not start: Vlaar, Debuchy, Cahill, or Lovren?
Open Controlsπ pahahahaha
Why are you asking this? Is it not obvious?Open ControlsThe player from the back line who will be violated against City
Open ControlsLovren has high value because he can score loads too. He might take a freekick or two as well... seen in preseason and training sessions (with Hendo, Sterling, and sturridge).
Its between Debuchy and Lovren out of those though, but I would choose Lovren because of the higher goal threat. Everton will score too really.Open ControlsWell there's no way Liverpool's gonna keep a CS playing at the Etihad but Debuchy can play an attacking role, too.
Open Controls
Ok, if I trade Lovren>Clyne, then what would you say? Or should I play with 4 DEF and bench either Henderson or Bojan?
Open ControlsSee my other comment, I read your post wrong, I do apologise.
Open Controls
Oh shit, sorry.
I actually read it as who to start, it was an obvious choice to select Cahill.
My apologies.Open Controls
I wanna say lovren... but its a touch choice
Open Controlstouch? tough!

I live in Australia, Perth right now and its 11:55am in the morning. I have been using this site for a long time and not really understood the phrase "Dead Zone". Is it the time at night/early morning in England when not many people are on, hence why theres not much activity on the site or is it just a random time when a lot of people may not be on?
Open ControlsBecause it's a site for UK people, so loads are asleep, unlike me, I work night shifts.
Open Controls*site for UK football.
Open Controls
Precisely as you described it, bunch of non-UKers are about at these times. Judging by your previous five responses for a rather innocuous and dull question you should enjoy it.
Open ControlsNo need to be a smart ass mate, just asking a question
Open Controls
Who to bench
Chester (home to Stoke but they played Europa)
Hutton (home to Newcastle)
PVA (home to Man Utd)
Henderson (away to Man City)Open ControlsPVA ofc
Open ControlsWhy? He's got decent attacking threat and Sunderland have a fairly decent defence. Villa are awful at defending.
Open ControlsWhys it funny?
Open Controlsdid you watch SUN game last week or just saw his assist in FPL?
I would bench him for HuttonOpen ControlsNo I didn't. I'm basing it on more than one game. Sunderland's defence beats Villa's.
Open Controls
villa COULD keep a CS, sunderland have no chance
Open ControlsNewcastle will score. Bookmark this.
Open Controlsim not saying they wont, but there is a chance they wont
Open ControlsThere's a chance United won't.
Open Controlsim saying there is a 30% chance newcastle dont score
there is probably a 5% chance united wont score
see the difference?Open ControlsThat's your opinion though.
Open Controlsif you want to completely ignore the quality of opponent then idk what to say
Open ControlsI'm not, in my opinion both United and Newcastle will score. So clean sheets are out the window. So I'd have to rely on attacking threat, and PvA has more of an attacking threat.
Open Controls
Hutton.
Open ControlsSorry out of these 3 i will only play 1. So should read, who to START!
Must be Henderson since he cost me 6.0 and you never know what he could do even against City?Open ControlsStuff like this is most easily settled with this page.

Bench PVAOpen Controls
Is PVA really worth a look? I'm concerned when I would ever want to play him fixture wise.
Open ControlsI played him last week
Open ControlsI was tempted pre-season, until I noticed all his decent fixtures were away.
Open ControlsLooked like he's going to be a big threat down those wings. Type of player who attacks first, defends later. Is it worth a transfer right now? I'd be inclined to say no because United are great away from home and Rooney is sure to bag a goal. Definitely worth keeping on the watch list though.
Open ControlsIs the attacking that we like π
Open Controls
Watched parts of the game. His defending needs to improve, but for me I always like to get the cheapest starter on the team. All Sunderland's choices are at 4.5 so what won it for me is his attacking prowess.
As long as he can keep his place, which I think he will.Open Controls
Play two from Kolarov, Debuchy, PvA and Fletcher?
Open ControlsDonkey Kong.
Open Controls
Am really shocked I am considering fitting Aguero into my team this early, was not expecting him to even be fit let alone score a goal. If he scores vs Liverpool, it will be madness on here.
Open ControlsI find this year the premium forwards are almost unattainable with out scarring some part of your team. Two at 12m in RvP and Aguero. The odd priced Sturridge at 11.5 and Rooney and Costa are a hefty price. While Lukaku's price turns me off.
Open Controlsi love this. means we actually have to chose only a couple and many will get it wrong. the perfect team won't exist. the same applies to midfield where there are just too many good players in the 8-11m range to fit them all in without sacrificing either attack or defense.
Open ControlsIt forces you to work hard and actually look at the player. Refreshing. Even failing will be exciting. Ask me and Hazard on Monday!
Open Controls
It also means that u need to make an early decision on whether to stick w 352 or 343. I make the decision to drop yaya->siggy to get 3 up top. Of cos with the expense of a weak defense and only 2x9m midfielder
Open Controls
It will be ... but beware the glass hamstrings ... when they twang there's a lot of hurt to transfer out.
Open Controls
So, am I the only one who feels Arsenal has had a very underwhelming transfer window?
One decent player, one back-up goalkeeper, one RB because we were forced to, and some kid who can play everywhere.
Need a solid CB and and some striker in the next one week. πOpen ControlsCompare it to previous years....Don't just go off what Carra was saying on MNF. They were missing Mert and Ozil, and Giroud isn't fit yet.
Theyve got a top backup keeper now, a solid RB (probably like for like with sagna, but younger), chambers has looked great so far in 3 games (2 CS's, no goals in open play)
Sanchez can play up top too if needed.
A solid holding midfielder with more brutality than Flamini could help them get a hold of Yaya for example... the big teams just ran riot against them because they had no one to grab the game in the middle of the parkOpen ControlsWell the worst decision Wenger will make this season is to make Arterta captain as it makes him harder to drop.
If they have someone like Matic or Fernando they will be in contention for the title.
But they don't so they will not. But 3rd or 4th should not be an issue I reckon.Open Controls
Why did Gylfi not rise?
Open ControlsTotal FPL / Fiso are not exact sciences.
Open ControlsBut over 200k transfers should be enough for 0.2
Open ControlsClearly not.
Open Controls
Front 7
Mata, Fab, Eriksen, Sterling, Ramsey
Rooney, Costa
Don't ask about my defense....Open ControlsSiggy?
Open ControlsD must be gash though
Open Controls
Wait till kun sturridge start to fire and u will be thinking how to get 1 of them in
Open Controls
sitting at 30k, worth the risk of captaining hazard or not?, appreciate the thoughts!
Open ControlsLooked as close as one can be to playing well but not scoring on the weekend, worth a shout
Open ControlsSure.
Do what you like.
Hazard is much better at home & Chelsea have a great fixture.Open Controlsif your goal is to be the no.1 in the world you will have to gamble some and be lucky. it's too early in the season to sit back and protect the "lead"

Caulker ----> Clyne next GW? His next fixtures look very tasty π
Open ControlsWho is the best 4.5 defender to play week in week out?
Open Controlsthose in top 30k who u thinking to captain, even those not in who do we think they will captain
Open ControlsWho should I trade for Clyne: Cahill, Debuchy, or Lovren?
Or is there another defender for 5.0 or less that's better than Clyne? (I already have Vlaar)Open ControlsDiego Costa with 50%+ of the captain votes π―
Wouldn't have thought that...Hazard & Rooney seem better picks to me.Open ControlsReally? How come?
Open ControlsPardon my manners, its late.
How's it going Pep? How was GW1 for ya?Open ControlsHaha, no worries. I told CF but I really enjoyed Banff & Lake Louise; incredible scenery!
GW1 went great, scored 78 points without having Gylfi & it looks like I am going without him for GW2 π―Open Controls
Rooney 6 shots on the weekend, Hazard flat track bully & on penalties at home.
Open Controls
I'm unsure who to captain out of Costa + Rooney.
Open Controlschelsea looked great at the weekend, united did not
+ costa scored at the weekend, hazard did not
= costa gets +50% of the votesOpen ControlsFor sure, the reasoning is there, I am just a bit surprised it's such a landslide.
Open Controls
Come on Pepin, you know younwill give Costa the armband
Problem is one of those three likely to score much more points than the other two, and like you say there not much in itOpen ControlsOf course I will captain him, I like to go with the herd on the (c) choice π
Open Controls
Aidan McGeady's stats from the weekend were impressive. Whose place is he taking, Mirallas? Or is he semi-nailed on? Could be a good option once Everton's fixtures turn.
Open ControlsMata β‘ Hazard or save the FT? Already have Fab and Costa
Open ControlsI'm a wee bit concerned at the price rises/falls. What if TV is less erratic this year. That will take some time getting used to. Will the TFPL/FISO lt work it out? If so, how long does it take them?
Open ControlsMate, it's the same formula as last year.
This *Sigurdsson* price rise thing happens all the time.
Chill Winston.Open ControlsHow do u know this?
Open ControlsKnow what?
That the price monitoring sites are not an exact science?
I *know* this from playing for years & seeing the discrepancies that exist between them, as well as noting that certain prices do not change when it's clear they *should*.
Finally, I've made a reasonable assumption that the system has not been changed because, if it had I'm certain this forum would have made mention of it.Open Controls
P.S. Trigg, I am sure you've seen Jovetic' stats fro the weekend. Certainly one to keep for one more week, i think...
Open ControlsYeah maybe i will save transfer, trouble is his price might fall
Open ControlsGood thing with saving is have more time to look at replacements, one game isnt enough
Open ControlsOne of your targets - Ade - had no shots and no key passes at the weekend...
Open ControlsFellow JovetiΔ owner here.
If he starts he's in my team.
Although, I'm curious who you like as a replacement for him?
Bony - great fixtures, amazing home record but, more expensive
Pelle - great price & fixtures but, an unknown FPL asset
Remy - decent fixtures & proven but, may not be with QPR in a week's timeOpen Controls
Might not start.
Open Controls
I hate losing money, almost wish i didnt have fabregas so i could take Mata out for him
Open ControlsYou just know Mata will come good with those fixtures though...
Open ControlsHe better, if he dosent will end up losing about a million on him
Open ControlsNo you don't. United are shoite! He did nothing against Swansea to suggest he'll come good against a Sunderland midfield that will run and harry til their legs fall off
Open ControlsYour basing everything on one match...
Open ControlsFirst of all, its *you're
Secondly, I watched all over Uniteds preseason and wasn't that thrilled by Mata individually, despite the team winning most of the games. I only picked Mata ahead of Fabregas because I wasn't sure Fab would be played so far forward.
Now that that has been cleared up its a non-contest imo, considering that Chelsea are gonna bully plenty of teams this season, and United are gonna be up against it more often than not - their midfield and defense is just shocking.Open ControlsDon't be a grammar w@nker.
Opening with it does nothing to bolster *you're* argument...Open ControlsSorry mate, RICKARDINHO1 is right. The standard of grammar and spelling on this site is absolutely dreadful - and it needs flagging up. However, I fear that the younger generation just doesn't care.
Open ControlsHold on a just a moment.
First off, I'm not arguing against *proper grammar*, rather I'm pointing out that using a simple typo (your v. you're) to belittled someone in an argument is petty & does nothing to actually bolster your claim.
Further, this is an informal setting, where we discuss insignificant topics *on the fly* & when we couple that with auto-correct simple slips like this will happen all the time.
If the mistake takes away from clarity, fine; however in this instance the commenter was simply being a cock.Open Controls
- Open Controls
Mata is an odd one - he will score points given his quality & the fixtures, so his price will reverse, of that I am sure.
Open Controlsit's not lost until you sell at a lower price. by the end of GW8 i fully expect to own a 9.3m mata
Open ControlsGood to see you made a nice start Pepin
Open Controls
I watching the Everton game and without Coleman they looked a little unsure at the back but the moment he came on they locked it down. Does he deserve to be as much as Baines? Or having an Ivanovic like returns and potential justify his price?
Open ControlsEverton are a bit of an unknown force this year ... losing Barkley certainly hurts. I'd be steering clear until their fixtures tidy up a bit and see how they fair against the middle-of-the-road teams.
