I might be wrong but I think those stats tend to undergo a massive regression as full 90 minute matches are played as in it is possibly easier to score when you are subbed on against tired teams.
Still, give the boy time and he'll do just fine.This is definitely true, I've seen strong analysis on that subject.
There are some stats out there that show Welbeck to be a very promising subject, but this is not it.

I've done some similar analysis based on goals per 90 before and it does regress with sub players who start getting full games. But he can score goals, more than people seem to think.
