With West Brom and Man United set to see out the Gameweek tomorrow, we delve into the data from the nine matches played so far. Unsurprisingly, Man City, Southampton and West Ham’s in-form front men are on this evening’s agenda, whilst we also cast an eye over a couple of improving north London-based midfielders.
I'm nearly two weeks an ex-smoker without any nicotene replacement.
Congratulations
Chat in a sec, just off for a fag.
Hahaha after ye.
Nice one la
Good man. 1.5 years here.
4th attempt. Was off them 3.5 years, 1 year and 1 year before too.
YOU CAN DO IT !!!Hopefully man different attitude this time getting older and we only have one life no point getting planted in my 50s cuz I liked a smoke.
My bro in law has throat cancer at 46. He gave up 7 years ago. I have no brothers and he was best man at my wedding.
2 small kids too.
Evil fkkkers they are....That shite RCA. Really shite.
The gfs sister had a baby and we were visiting down in Dublin as you do at that point I decided I have to go off these things if I every have any kids of my own I'll not see their 20s.deffo. My 3 kids will have me nagging them when I'm 90 🙂
Been around 2months for me due to the shisha pen.
Good man
After watching motd i dont think il
Be gettting rid of sterling anytime soonDon't understand why folk are ditching..he looked really good.
Think mostly to afford baines or aguero
shining light in a poor outfit
i watched the game - trust me sterling was ordinary
Yup, though I'd argue that Yun was good.
Dont think we were watching the same match.
i am sure we were. did you watch him last season. do you watch him for england. he was hiding out wide and not getting many touches. he used to sit in the hole and dictate the whole game.
Was running at players leaving them for dead, created numerous chances and was involved in all 3 goals.
first half yes. 2nd half he was excellent
The bandwagon to sell is an odd one.
i was considering it to get baines and was thinking of replacing him with tadic.
He's struggling with Balotelli. Nothing is sticking up front. Rodgers won't let that continue. I'm holding.
Giving him the hull game then reasses.
He is doing very very well, but Balotelli is killing so much of his potential, thank God Qpr defenders got a touch for those own goals instead of Balo getting the touch.
Still keeps getting points though. Just keep thinking once liverpool click he will get some monster hauls.
Oh I'm keeping, its just annoying Sturridge isn't there.
It has all the hallmarks of a burn sell.
I only seen the first half and I was delighted to have zero Liverpool representation. Sterling is the only real option for them at the moment and if I had, I don't think I would be shifting anytime soon. Still scoring decent without dazzling is a good sign
He was a lot better second half.
First half I wasn't impressed but his run created Liverpool's second and his ball in forced the og kinda. I don't know what all this Gerrard in the hole stuff is about. He hasnt the legs for that.
- The Case For Coleman
Repost from bottom of last page.
Why not a love fest for Coleman? The guy is a fantasy point magnet.
He's only played 4 games + a cameo 6 minute appearance to start the season. He had an unlucky own goal in the game Everton gave up 6 to the mighty Chelsea, but overall his stats are awesome.
Week 2 - 1G for 7 pts.
Week 3 - (the chelsea game) 1A
Week 4 - CS 6 pts.
Week 8 - 1G, CS 13 pts.
So in summary.... 4 games, 2 goals, 1 assist and 2 clean sheets.
I think he could be a slight differential from all the Baines owners as he will score more goals even though he's not on PK's, all the while picking up the CS's that Baines is getting as well.Baines is the safer option and will outscore him more in the long run
This has crossed my mind, if Costa is out, im considering Clyne Costa> Coleman Pelle
Should say that would mean Baines Coleman double, and Clyne will be going coz not enough Saint spots, and i want to start planning ahead coz atm i have double Saints defense and it wont be good in 4 weeks
Because of Baines and because he is Irish does not get as much hype
Maith an buachaill!!
The pricing of the two this year makes it automatic Baines. Unless you insist on having an inferior differential to win you some H2H matches.
So you think Coleman is inferior to Baines or is inferior to other Defenders as well? I guess you could make the case that anyone compared to Baines is technically "inferior". But if everyone has Baines, which is the way it's going now, why wouldn't you want the next best thing owned by half as many teams? Look at Costa before his injury. Owners were afraid to not Captain him because so many teams had him that they wouldn't be able to keep up. Owning Baines is the Defense equivalent to Costa IMO. He's essential.....but not essential at the same time because of the Aguero's and Coleman's out there.
What's the point in having a different player to everyone else...if that player is gonna score less points?
and you're gonna do this ON PURPOSE to boot!?
glwt!
😆
Well in all fairness..lets be honest...we all know how shitty Everton defense has been so far...Its just that this week they've outplayed villa & now i hear people thinking about doubling up on their defense.. Bit of a Knee-jerking imo
they had one of the hardest set of opening fixtures
and that tough schedule included Crystal Palace who Everton play poorly every time, as well as Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool away & ManU away
same defense as last season which did quite well
I don't understand why people look only at form without considering the strength of the fixtures, and how teams typically play against the opponents they play
Both Coleman 7 Baines are equally options, but Baines has penos to match colemans goal, and assists aswell.
Also, Baines will be less suspectible to a low patch in form (penos).
I think it'll be close at the end of the season, but Baines just makes more sense for the same pricejesus, i should check my posts for typos...
Yes, but considering the options you have upfront, how do you manage to arrange fund for Baines or Coleman? I've gone for Jags 🙂
I completely agree. Coleman has played half the minutes of Baines this season. If he double his goals/assists he would have 4 goals and 2 assists compared with Baines' 1 goal and 5 assists.
Everton clearly have amazing fixtures so signing one of Coleman or Baines would be a good idea as long as it is doable without wrecking your team. Yes Jagielka has done well too but it is unlikely he will score throughout the season, based on previous years.
The choice is very close I think, Baines does very well in the BPS which is a big plus for him. Coleman was explosive last year and looks to be repeating that form. For those looking right now Coleman is also 0.2 mill cheaper and has a lower ownership (relevant for both current budget and potential for future rises)
I would love it if someone wrote an article on this. One thing I think which is people saying go for Baines because he has pens should realise pens and a very rare set piece are Baines' only chance of scoring so its very unlikely he will match Coleman for goals.think you should also see Innsie's community article on bonus hounds: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/10/15/baseline-bonus-in-attack-and-defence/
basically, Jagielka does well for getting bonus when the team gets a clean sheet and the other defenders don't get attacking pointsand should add... barring injury, my starting defense the next four weeks is
Clyne Bertrand Coleman Bainesyour defense is amazing. I have Clyne plus 2 southampton players (not def), ivanovic (don't want to use a transfer on him yet) and 3 x 4.0 def (will upgrade one to Baines or Coleman). I think Coleman and Baines will destroy Jagielka for total points.
Serious sample size issues here...
the same logic of doubling colemans returns says that Sakho will finish the season with 30 goals (he's good, but I doubt it!).Right because Baines' 8 games is a huge sample. Last season Coleman outscored Baines
I'm seriously debating between which of the two to get in this GW.
I think there's a slight mental block against Coleman, because I got him for 5m last year.
Baines is getting more touches going forward, Coleman is more of a threat in the box.
Coleman should be fresher this week - there'll probably not be much in it points wise over the season.
Baines is probably the safer option.
O'Shaughnessy - your absolutely nailing it lad. Well done.
So getting Eriksen in then?
I was actually thinking eh? What u mean. But now I get you.
I was joking pal I seen people making that kinda comment before but I'm not that kinda guy.
Eriksen? Not sure. To be honest I dunno where I'm going this week at all. I have a shite gk and defence but have been putting the transfers off might just start working at them. I've probably the best attacking 7 and an uber back line.Ah fair enough, he just looks a good pick and with those stats would get him even if he hadn't scored.
I've the ADM Sterling Siggy Fabregas midfield with no cash itb at the minute I don't want to trade out any of these guys. I'd like Baines I could use a stronger defence but can't see me ditching any of these boys. Maybe a few shrewd defensive signing could keep the uber going a while yet.
TY.
I was just saying last night that the DZ is an amazing source of info & place to *argue* about players.
Super helps...
I've been a non-member & a member & let me tell you being a member here is better! We are in the same h2h the Irish congigent run by HvT.
Seen a big upturn in my performance since taking it serious and being a member here to be in your spot would be dreamland had a great run last year for about 14 weeks top 1k but really two bad gws killed me the high winds one and another. Go again this year.
I'll keep an eye out for ye anyway. You Canadian? We are in fact in the same H2H league &, yup, I'm Canadian.
Feel the same way about last year, as I yo-yoed between 1k & 10k.
Few *awful* weeks & not captaining Hazard killed me.
What's your Team Name in the Irish league?Bloemfontein Celtic.
Good luck anyway and I'll keep an eye on your team and for you on here chief.
Same to you sir.
All the best.
repost: bottom of last page:
Lots of people asking about Costa. I have done some research.
Marca reported Costa as being "rested"in their match report. Have also read this a few times from sources on twitter.
Jose has not said Costa is injured, Chelsea have not reported him as injured.
"Costa isn't injured. He can play. Jose wants to rest him for two weeks to prevent a future injury. Found this and Maribor games ideal."
This is a quote from a Chelsea fan on twitter who is followed by some journos that may give it some weight. (Ben Dinnery has also said the same thing but I am sure this guy just does research on twitter and google like I have done)
I know it is nothing concrete but thought I would share anyway so please don't shoot me down in flames for not having proper official sources other than the Marca comment. I believe he will play against UtdOf course he will play against United..
Great work. Thanks +1
thats what the general consensus on here i think aswell. He might have had a knock but Jose has decided to give him a weeks rest because hes always banging on about doing it
mou: “I say Maribor, no chance; Man United, very little – but very little,”
admittedly a manager isnt as reliable as some random bloke on twitter
Jose is probably less reliable!
The point i'm trying to make is there is a chance for him to play that is all.
coupled with friday just looks like a classic case of hoping out loud
people were asking the question so i thought I would share. as my OP said i know it is nothing concrete. Of course I do hope as will many others. The reason I spend time looking for information is because I hope.
This throws a spanner in the works,
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/chelsea-vs-maribor-jose-mourinho-faces-big-dates-without-diego-costa-9804937.htmlagain does not say he is injured.
Well he ain't on holiday.
the debate is rest v injury.
where you the guy that was bullying people on friday night about Costa starting?
Were*
certainly not
apologies then
nope, my only comments were a video with Costa training on Thursday. Never once told anyone to play anyone
Different crowd bit of a repost but buck it why not.
Vito
N.Taylor Toby Vlaar
Siggy ADM Sterling Fabregas
Aguero Pelle Costa
bench: Hamer Wilson Rio Albrighton
Defence looking weak, might have to move Vito on as a priority, I'd like to have Baines but it'd cost me a big mid which I dunno about. Views? 0.0itb 1ft.I think you should hold your free transfer this week and possibly use two free transfers to improve your defence . Swansea have tough fixtures , QPR are useless and Villa do not look as solid as before
Thanks Adam West.
Wait for tomorrow games and Costa news
ADM n Costa possible enablers for Baines if you want to take the hit
Otherwise, I would saveThanks fella.
Looks good to save imo.
Hopefully vito keeps his spot for you. Maybe shift rio at some point but no immediate rush. Looks a v good team to meVito I may move on for Foster this week coming pending other info.
Thanks for the reply.
Costa needs to go.
Hahaha good one MRU.
On another note, getting rid of Costa is madness. If he's out this week which most of us guess he'll be back for, the following week he has QPR
All just white noise on a Saturday night
Even if tv is different this year due to high ownership you will lose .3 min
Net or gross?
If you owned him from the start the first .1mil is *free*... it's only after that you actually lose on TV that you earned.
Doing the hokey cokey between the biggest hitting strikers will end in tears eventually.
The ones that are happy to do it I imagine missed Aguero's haul but this was negated by Baines Pelle and Tadic this week.
Both are major armband options every week the first haul Costa has the ditchers will be punished.This.
Kun has said QPR the following week. City look more deadly than CHE ATM. Chelsea more workman like, MCI just attack, attack, attack...
Meh.
Its not madness selling a £12m man when hes not playing 2-3 games. Its common sense.
There once was a poster called Innsie
Most others said taking Fabs out looked flimsy
But lo and behold Baines produced the goods
He thought Chadli would produce goals and assists in floods
But at least he avoided Azpi's wincie.
... pretty crap 🙂 Enjoy the DZ!Floods and goods don't rhyme.
Was thinking that but maybe they do in a north east or scottish accent
Love it RCA 🙂
We really have to have this out about Costa.
He's just this guy, right? He has scored a lot but there is no way he is the fulcrum that moves the world. (A) Never having had Costa is OK: lots of players have scored goals consistently, like Sakho, Pelle, and now Aguero. (B) Dropping him is not madness. He costs a lot of money and if you expect him not to play it is not foolish to drop him for someone who will play (and score). Everyone wants to talk about ho hard it will be to get him back in, but if you bought him late, he is not likely to cost more next week than what you sold him for the week before. So this whole "OMG you dropped Costa/don't have him, what are you going to do" thing is about people who had him from the beginning and believe their entire success is bound to Costa. Get over it. He is just this guy.
*I did not have him until after his hat-trick and have been playing catch-up ever since 😳agreed. but he scores lots of goals and his team look like they'll win the league, scoring a fair amount of goals in the process.
so essential - no.
useful if you like points - yes.I must admit it was you who inspired this rant. Frankly I agree with you, and I am already working out how I get him back for QPR, but I just can't get behind the whole idea that to drop him is some kind of fever symptom.
i'm all for bold decisions and all that, but unless you know he's injured, i think it's too big a risk to sell, especially as the honeybadger says - he's very high ownership, and you may be left behind.
The thing with Costa is his enormous ownage percentage, if you don't have him and he scores well you'll prob be dropping a lot...
This is what gives him such power over people's minds, but if you drop him briefly (or don't have him) in order to play someone else who scores just as well, then you're fine. It's the same argument with all "essential" players: there is a risk, but it is not madness to think someone else might get you as many points. Costa, at least before this week, was the safest bet. But there were always others, and this week the bet just got less risky.
I think the key point is he's very droppable, BUT only, if as you say, you've only gotten him in late as you did, GW6.
If, like me, you've had him since GW1, then to drop him (short term), and then go to get him back in again, i will lose 0.4m.
I would rather bench him and call in a sub, than spend 0.4m, particularly this season when building team value is so bloody hard.
for what its worth, unless he picks up a long term injury, then imo, he is a season long keeper. The undisputed first choice striker in the team that is going to win the league.
Try telling Costa he's just a guy.
Point taken. No I will not.
Costa will be 1st or 2nd top goal scorer.Random players can get a couple goal here and there but they won't be as contestant as Costa.Thats why it's madness to drop him.
Right, getting late, I've imposed my views on people long enough, goodnight.
Morning folks
Afternoon NABIL.
Hey there NZ captain. It's about time.. 🙂
You're running into us at the wrong time... It's gonna be a good match next week 🙂
we're moving into top gear as well 😉 MOTD surely 😀
How many goals has Tadic scored this season?
Answer this question, and you'll stop rushing to get him in.
Sure he's good - but he's not as good as people are making out (i.e virtually essential)Ssshh, let them carry on. We know. 😉
How many goals has Fabregas got this season ?
Add Siggy to the list. The top 3 point scoring Mids have only scored once each. So perhaps it's better to not focus on this one stat.
wow, that's very surprising
Didn't say he was essential chap.
lol, brave lad. He's getting 20 odd every week from now on don't you know?
Chasing last weeks points...you know how it goes on here.....
Of course he's not essential and he won't score 23 again but his stats have been great all season and he's been unlucky not to score 10+ in other games.
Please nobody get him.
I think Barkley will outscore him next five gameweeks
i still think when he gets regular time that Mane will be the better pick of the two.
I'm definitely considering doubling on that pair when Siggy has his stiff run.
i considered it but it would mean too much upheaval for me as I have Pelle ,Toby and Mane as it is
Thoughts on Chadli? Think he'll fade out?
At 6.4 and with good fixtures I think your good to give him a chance and see if it pans out. His numbers are really good for his price.
He already is.
I've had him a while now and I've come to the conclusion:
When Spurs are playing well he's scoring well. When Spurs are woeful, his returns are woeful 🙁
Spurs are just so inconsistent this season and seem to favour a defensive game under Pochettino 😕
Starting to get cold feet but there are some good fixtures coming upEriksen seems worth the extra cash...but then there's Tadic playing for an inform side
Yea, nice few options in that 6.5 - 7.5 mark 😕
I've overused this one. 🙂
Yes. Like Marty McFly in a family photo. Will be using that one.
That joke's like a fly's arse...hard to whack.
Risers: Jagielka, Bertrand, Pelle
Fallers: Bent, Chamakh, Colback, Lennon, Grealish, Vaz Te, Snodgrass, Zaha, Lovren, Bony, Bentaleb, Ulloa, Binnom-Williams, BlindCheers mate
Pleasure 🙂
GW13 Pelle to Benteke can't wait 🙂 Will be a straight swap at this rate keep on rising Graziano friend!
Yessss got Jagielka in just in time
Damnit!
I knew I should have transferred VazTe to Aguero now I can't afford it...U got VazTE??? And u still have him but still his price dropped!! 😮
Jokes, jokes, jokes. Not to worry, owned Aguero for a few weeks now.
Binnom-Williams dropped 🙁
If he walked into my room right now, I wouldn't know who he was...
Worth dropping either fab or costa to get baines in?
Baines is on fire. Always nice to own him. Drop Costa. He's such a pain to own. Don't drop Costa if you don't have Aguero though...
"Drop Costa. He's such a pain to own."
How is the leading point getter, with a hatrick under his belt, on the *best* team in the league a pain to own?
You have the attention span of a squirrel.😆
This.
Comment removed. Please refer to our terms and conditions on posting comments.
@AA7
"Don't have to be such a cu-nt."
Mate, you give advice like that & you expect us to accept it at face value?
Think before you try & *help*. You just told the guy to sell Costa? :S
Further, listening to managers pressers & accepting what they say at face value could be one of the worst things you can do...
Think about it, why would they reveal anything they didn't have to, to their opposition?
This isn't to say we completely discount everything we hear but, if you checked the Team News on this site (or many others) you would *know* pretty much what to do with Costa this year. You're ridiculously pretentious. You're assuming your advice is better. Also, regarding Costa, even with the team news people still aren't certain whether or not he'll start. Getting rid of him for Aguero isn't that bad of a move. Aguero has really good fixtures ahead of him. I'd rather have Fabregas, Baines and Aguero over Baines, Costa and another midfielder.
@AA7
First, the question was:
"Worth dropping either fab or costa to get baines in?"
You then replied: "Drop Costa. He's such a pain to own."
There was nothing said about Aguero, or then we may have had something to talk about.
As for being pretentious, sure I'll agree & I've been called much worse however, looking back do you think it was best to suggest that he sell Costa?
Finally, "team news people still aren't certain whether or not he'll start". Sure, we all know that but, to put more emphasis on the manager's statement's at the cost of heeding the news gathered here seems short sighted, right?"Don't drop Costa if you don't have Aguero though..."
He has Aguero, thus dropping Costa is more effective in my opinion than dropping Fabregas.
I'd rather have Welbeck and Baines over Costa and 4.0M defender. Costa has given me a headache and Welbeck is more than capable in the next 3 games or so to outscore him.Sure, that's fine.
I'm picking up what you're putting down, now.
Although, you didn't say that originally, you said b/c he's a "pain to own". So, you could understand why I was skeptical?
In the end, I think we can agree that the best thing to do with Costa is just wait & see a little bit right?
Selling him before we *know* what's actually going on seems a bit hasty.I can see why you think keeping Costa is a really good idea. I'm having a hard time myself deciding whether or not I want to do Costa>Aguero using my FT. Being burned by Costa in the past tempts me to do this even more hence my comment "pain to own"
and yeah I usually wait until Friday night to do my transfers.
I was just offended by what you said:
"You have the attention span of a squirrel."
Have you had Costa from the start? If not then probably him, but if you have I wouldnt ship any of them
Ugh lol I didn't mean costa... I meant Sterling
Thanks for the replies though guys! Lol
64K. Captain already played. ADB left. 1 point coming from bench. Big red arrow tonight?
Adm*
Massive.
Disagree.
What rank do you predict then?
About 95k.
I say over 100K. Anything worth betting?
Not really. Spread is too thin.
🙂
I wouldn't think it would be too big, but you will undoubtedly slide a little.
Lucky to stay inside top 100K imo.
I think he will make it, just. VCs are spread a lot and not many have the likes of Boyd coming off the bench.
Pelle, Welbeck, Sterling and AdM are popular.
1 point difference down there is 2/4k in rank. This ^^^.
Better than me. no ADM, aguero played, 1 point coming off the bench 🙁
I'm trying to ignore my current rank as it is irrelevant! Is relevant to how far you'll slide!
Why is everyone ditching sterling? Am I missing something?
For me... funds for Baines
Without Studge he's not getting the points some people hoped for.
People want Kun and Welbeck, and prefer drop him instead ADM/Fab...
Baines*
No idea. Very foolish if you ask me.
not that i agree with ditching him, but ballo is suffocating him.
Next 7 look tasty bar Chelsea obviously 😉
For getting in Baines or Aguero most probably.. Of the template midfield I guess he's showing the least.
4th top scoring mid, just two points behind Fabregas and looking good. I don't get it myself.
no clue. just transfered him in this week!
Quick look at points at rank
1K = 493
3K = 481
5K = 474
10K = 465
20K = 455
30K = 448
40K = 444
50k = 440
Hopefully some sort of guide. It's pretty bunched to be honest
Those in the top 5K get to have an average week before joining the bunch.
I just wish I manage to somehow stay in the top 15k.
It's a marathon not a sprint, grasshopper. 😉
But a big rise always feels nice. 😉
oo-eer, missus.
464 pts = 10,615th
377th = 503 😎
Out of the top 1k after tonight? 😆
Not sure why I out the 😆 on that post 😕
I think so 🙁
It has been fun though!
1st place = 561
100 = 514
200 = 509
300 = 505
400 = 503
500 = 501
Milan Mihajlovic at #1 is smashing it!Boyd 2nd sub will annoy him.
569 for 1st.
3rd has Boyd 3rd sub. Wilson & Taylor to autosub.True. Still interesting how the guys right at the top are so far from the chasing pack. only 5 points separate 100th and 200th, yet the guys at the top are almost 50 points ahead
Always the way. Glad to see quite a few regular posters in the top 50.
Name names TM?
They have all posted their ranks. 🙂
Rasping Drive is one of them.
It's amazingly tight 8 weeks in.
Cheers TM. Should be able to finish the week in the top 10k.
477 = 3.9k
If only I didn't have 37 points on the bench on GW 1... 🙁Good to know I'm only 15 points of 10K. Thanks TM!
Will be at least 20 tomorrow.
Before this week. I was outside the top 800k. Glad to see I am now just 35pts behind for a top 5k rank. All is not lost. What a difference 1 GW can make.
top 50k*
Oh boy. Just saw that City plays in the early kick off again next week.
Yep and we will go at them, could be 3 down in 20 minutes, Aguero could have a field day
He'll blank next week I'm thinking.
We can keep telling ourselves that but there's only so much Tylenol one can buy without prescription.
😀
Just saw that you have him & captained him. I hate you 100 times over.
Total fluke. Had to get rid of Sturridge Friday night. Got aguero and tadic in for a hit. Bonkers
Wowzers. That's a story you will live to tell when someone inevitably asks in the seasons to come 'what's your favorite FPL memory'
The 61 point transferI won't even start on the wc I decided against. Coleman Baines and Pelle ffs. 😀
good recent history v the oppo too
2 away meetings last season, 3 goals, 2 assists.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24503985
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25723655Don't really read too much into fixture / player history
Its key IMO. Brought Lampard in as a short term punt vs Villa when he was two short of breaking Bobby Ramblings record. He had scored more goals vs Villa than any other club. He scored 2. Players have teams and grounds the like to play against and on.
Do you really believe that? Teams change over time, etc.
I honestly do.
It is true. When I was at primary school I used love playing Broad Oak utd. They didn't know what offside was and we'd always batter them.
I believe he will play against UtdThat sounds plausible. The Telegraph did mention the three week rest was to manage the problem, not necessarily to heal it.
Thanks for this. All speculation of course but potentially far more useful than some of the stuff that's been going around.
Punt for this week has to be Bony.
This
And lukakaaa
Benteke for me against QPR
Not again :/
Chadli (C)
Vargas maybe
good shout!
Good shout. Or Berahino. Thought about Adebayor too - nice fixtures. But Spurs Euro hangover and the fact that I don't think I'm stupid enough to do it puts me off.
Was absolutely horrible last night
IMPORTANT QUESTION I am sure most are thinking.
Spend the big bucks on Baines (possibly even if it means taking a hit to make it happen) or just cheap out with Jagielka...
(would be taking out Moreno)Baines every time for me. Jagielka's goal run will dry up - not so certain on Baines' supply of assists and bonus.
I am pro Baines too, but what about Ivanovic? Is he too worth his money? I have both and haven't got Ivanovic for his big hauls beginning of hte season. No attacking pts for me. Is he worth keeping? Not so sure atm
Baines. Jagielka is not the poor man's Baines; he is the homeless man's Baines.
Anyone think people underestimate the importance of fixtures? Or at least that in hindsight, when assessing a team's quality, it is forgotten how good/ bad their recent fixtures were? I'll use my team Southampton as an example:
I remember last season, similarly to this, Southampton had their fixtures in big chunks of very easy fixtures and then smaller chunks of very hard. That was just how it went.... Most of their wins came in the good fixtures, pushing them up to top 4, and most losses in the hard ones, pushing them back down to midtable. So far it is exactly the same
Guaranteed, when saints lose 3 out of 4 against the big teams and go 6th or 7th, the media and fans will start saying how they have lost form, their quality has dropped off, they have been found out, etc. it happened last year too but in actuality there was nothing special at all.. They just won the easy games and lost the hard ones throughout but they happened to come in chunks.
The major exception to this is probably leicester who played great in the 'hard' games and badly in others! That is why I have made my own ticker ... 🙂
SOT: SUN 261 STO 226 hul 155 LEI 186 avl 172 MCI -167 ars -220 MUN -29
After this week's input, those figures will change significantly.
Indeed, you sure don't underestimate fixtures... You possibly overestimate them though 😉
But do you apply the logic of your ticker in hindsight? Everyone talks about how bad villa are defensively now after playing the top 5 in 5 games. I'm sure most would avoid them for that reason
In reality we are none the wiser after their impressive first fewI was. I never bought the Vlaar hype.
Your point about Southampton is very valid and actually makes me laugh a little when some of my friends also football fans think they could push for a european place this season. Fact is you can only beat whats put out in front of you and by and large Southampton have done that so far bar the 0-0 with West Brom so fair play. If you take a Swansea as a comparison point similar scenario haven't played many of the big boys bar Chelsea and yet don't have the same returns as Southampton, just goes to show you still have to give huge credit to them for being very consistent.
Yeah other examples who have had extreme fixture swings are everton and villa. Both largely gone with fix. Exceptions are there of course!
Any team fighting for Europe will tell you winning the games you should is critical and harder than it sounds.
Nice point.
Yeah I think southampton are in a state of limbo where they are relaxed against the lower teams because they don't see relegation as a big threat and go for it.
Against top teams they may be more nervous as they feel it is the next hurdle
Indeed. But not only.
Most importantly, and in the mould of their excellent manager, they have the knack of scoring goals from anywhere ...
Can't believe i'm asking this - but is Steven Taylor nailed for Newcastle...?
I 'want' to take a 8 point hit to bring him and Moore in so I can get Aguero for Costa.
I'm 4th in the world - so don't really want to be making any mistakes...4th in the world... Wow, congrats. Keep it up. He's not nailed, and if I were you I'd try avoid an 8 point hit with that rank!
Since you seem willing to lose Costa, how about Falcao and Costa to Kun and Welbeck?
Team link is to GW6. He already has welbeck.
Oops, good spotting.
Bugger. Thought I'd linked my team so it was always current 🙁 Do you have to relink it each week?
Cheers Innsie. Want to avoid the 8 pointer but can't find another way - except maybe swapping Bego to Foster and not having to put in Taylor.
Surely there is a better way to get Aguero
He's a sicknote. Williamson was a doubt it seems. Wouldn't want to be relying on him tbh.
Cheers TM. Am now thinking of swapping Bego to Foster - so will no longer need Taylor. Phew. r
Fabulous rank, congrats
Thanks Rasping 🙂 My luck will run out soon tho no doubt.
Wow, when aguero scored 4, the FPL gods clearly checked your team and thought OOPS, now what do we do?! 😉
Ha! They tried to help by making him miss that pen but when that didn't really make a dent they looked kindly on the Southampton match for me 🙂
I can't help here, but cracking score mate!!
Thanks pal 🙂
Don't think he is nailed. Williamson was flagged before the game which is probably why he played. Your only 3.9k ahead of me 😉
Cheers My Mane Man - good to know. Congrats on the rank - i'm probably only higher than you through sheer luck.
Good evening DZ, this is my 3rd season of playing properly , the seasons before i done endless transfers and hits and didn't take the game seriously,i joined this site pre season and absolutely love it, im currently ranked 654 overall and its all mostly thanks to this site and in particular the DZ thats when im on here most, so just wanna say thanks and give some credit to all the intelligent views and discussions on here 🙂 obviously my rank will drop but still its a big improvement to my previous seasons and i will be happy with top 50k, anyway big shoutout and thanks to this site, all the posters and the DZ 🙂
Congrats on your current rank.
Stick around and no reason you can't stay up there. You're welcome.
Well played so far!
Cheers lads 🙂
Ant Fantasy UCL players round? When is the best time to play the WC?
when there isn't early deadline
will hold one more week and jut take a hit on my double liverpool defence then
*Any, around
By history, usually MD6, when the big sides rest their best players.
Don't think there is one.
*fail*
Misread your question, thought you meant/wrote UFPL.
Last game of the group stage. My team's a bit shit though, might play it tomorrow
mine is aswell. What daniel said makes sense though. Will hold off because of the early Kick off. Taken a 2point hit to get rid of double Liverpool defence
Ah forgot about the early deadline
Thank god I did my transfers after the saturday games. Would be 0.2 off after the changes.
PVA, Silva and Vaz Te > Baines, Albrighton and Welbeck (-4).lol
Boyd 3rd sub after Duff? were you drunk?
Burnley def is shjt, cant believe people still rate them so mucheven you played Heaton already 🙄
Uhhm....you own Morone.
Did you see the goal? My 5month old labrador would have scored it.
I'm guessing you are buying Kaboul this week?
🙄must admit I considered Rose, but gave up that idea after City game, Spurs defenders are lol
Hmm...you better tell Triggerlips he made a mistake then....
did he watch Kaboul play against Aguero last w/e?
as an Aguero-non owner, I want to kick his face, played like an amateur footballer, gave Aguero stupid penalty and so much space.
Boyd has been about as good going forward as Tiote this season. Got a lucky goal (Adrian was fouled) with his only shot on target for the season #yaya'd
solid 2p at least, hoped for cheaky assist. Duff would get 2p max, if he could avoid YC. I never think they could keep CS againts inform WHU
Right decision IMO. I'm sure the clean sheet was more likely than a Boyd goal, without the benefit of hindsight
Exactly
Lol@lol
Let this week serve as a lesson to those who kneejerk & WC early, because they fall 30 or 40 points behind in their mini-league.
Seen rises & falls to player's Overall Rank in excess of 90k this week.Ummm but my WC is what facilitated my huge jump mate.
Haha, OK.
Don't know if the GW3 WC players who got Jovetic & Ramsey feel the same way as you though.
Glad it worked out for yeah but, my point remains...
30 or 40pts early on, ain't nothing.Point taken.
100 plus at this stage is nothing mate, heck chased down a century tail opened of last season.
I was 40 behind my ML rival. 98 points so far with cork still on the bench to most likely come on, he scored 30, huge swing...
My WC was a huge win. Silly sausage.
Didn't say it can't work out but, feeling pressured into it because you're 30 or 40 behind is silly too... as we can see it's not as much as it seems.
Fair enough. WC should only be used early if there are fires that need putting out and/or you feel you can improve your team significantly both short and long term.
I agree. Was tempted to last week but decided I wouldn't make enough changes. Aguero (c) and Tadic have lauched me from 600000+ to 70k, although I'll be watching Di Maria from behind the sofa!
ML rival has him as his (c) so I'm right there with you.
Wildcard is overrated. Nothing a minus 12 can't fix
Gameweek rank is up to 196. I never could have dreamed of such a haul -- it has changed my entire season.
Very nice! 🙂
Well done mate 🙂
Wow. A jump from 380k to 6.5k is spectacular. Keep it up!
Just remember how it can all go the other way too.
From 9k to 200k...
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1333289/event-history/8/ 😯
So... Keep frosty! Stay sharp!Jesus, that is not a bad looking team!
Posted above, but you are seriously in the front page conversation now. Hope you hold strong after the adjustments at the end of the gameweek. Good luck and keep climbing!Ok, that is more spectacular... and he'll have O'Shea off the bench for -2.
Nice!
You've nearly caught me and by all rights I've had a decent week. 😯
Cheers all, and good luck tomorrow.
That assist to the Coleman goal must have been orgasmic (or something of the sort)
Glad and Sad...
Glad I captained Aguero this past week, although I had the armband on Costa and him as Vice, then changed to Aguero last minute. (can you imagine a Costa cameo for 1 point with Aguero as VC!!!!)
Sad he missed a penalty.
Glad Boyd is sitting in the first spot on the bench to come on for Costa - another 8 points. I changed him from last spot to first when I changed (C) to Aguero
Sad I never switched Ivan to Baines.
Glad I now hold 1st spot in my money league and have broken 100K with Di Maria still to play.
Sad that I cannot fit Ivan and Baines into my squad.
Lady luck has surely smiled on me this week... and it is becoming more and more apparent that FPL needs plenty of it.Glad Aguero (c) 4 goals
Sad missed penalty = -12 points
Glad had Baines
Sad transferred out Fabregas to Ox because of it
Glad double Soton defense
Sad that I considered ditching Clyne to accommodate Tadic instead of Ox.
Glad Costa missed the game and got Boyd off the bench
Sad Many Costa (c) Kun (vc)
Glad went from 600k to 70k in 1 week - overtaking a 80pt advantage in cash league.
Sad it's not gonna happen every weekGlad i kept away from this site gametime
Sadi came back to read this drivel😉
😆
Have an upvote! 😆
I'm sad I don't play in any money leagues, since I'm doing quite good actually this year
Just watched Valencias header again, his one of the best if not the best in the PL at heading, any other great aerial threats you can remember in the PL ? Big Dunc and Dion Dublin for me
Timmy Cahill
Yep good shout, speically considering his size, unbelievable air time and timing
Bojan
Shearer
NiAl Quinn
Yep lots of deft flicks for assist too, Rosler and Phillips i beleive would have benefited well
Shaun Wright-Phillips.
LOL 😀
Andy Gray if you go back a bit
I'll go back a bit - Joe Jordan
Dixie Dean then. His record season when scored 60 goals, 40 were with his head apparently!
Winner alright
Ronaldo was actually good too and Les Ferdinand
Hernandez
Yep similar to Tim Cahill
Good shouts all round, something beautiful about watching a bullet header fly in the top corner
