This weekend marks the final chance to play the winter wildcard in the Fantasy Premier League game and make transfers in its sister game, Ultimate Fantasy Premier League. Our community writers and posters were full of useful advice as the Fantasy windows prepare to slam shut this weekend. We also assess the growing interest in Arsenal’s assets, take a look back at one of last week’s highest scoring benches, and, as always, analyse the key members tables and the latest ups and downs in our community tournaments.

The Community Articles

This weekend marks the closure of the Ultimate Fantasy Premier League’s transfer window. If you’re wondering how to use those remaining trades, Balders’s Ultimate UFPL guide will prove essential reading while you tinker with your final team.

The Puntmaster also dropped by with his regular look at the Gameweek’s best differentials. Have a gander at his latest punts here.

This week also brought about the vote for best article of the month, to pay tribute to the efforts of our community scribes. Congratulations to  Innsie, who scooped the January article of the month prize for his analysis of Baseline Bonus Points for defenders. Innsie wins a £20 Amazon voucher and could be in line for another voucher, worth £100, after notching the highest community champion scout pick Gameweek score in Gameweek 23.  However,  Rupert the Horse will be hoping to beat his score, as well as the Scouts, after winning the vote to represent the community in Gameweek 24.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With four Arsenal players achieving a double-digit score in Gameweek 23, there is considerable interest in the North London club’s players from the community, including those with their winter wildcards to play this week. Picking a good defender is among key concerns but thankfully NickofOz was on hand with some intriguing analysis of the bonus potential of Arsenal’s backline.

Given Alexis Sanchez’s injury concerns, Ruth NZ is  urging the community to ditch the Arsenal midfielder and consider the many other, cheaper Arsenal options available. The Gunners’ excellent recent form is also prompting some community members to treble up on their attack.

Another team to command considerable investment from those playing their winter wildcard this week is Southampton, despite their Gameweek 23 loss to Swansea. But as our resident Saints expert Lucy explains, navigating their midield options is no easy task.

While the Southampton midfield line up is set to remain a mystery there was comfort for those looking at Arsenal’s assets ahead of Gameweek 25. Rupert the Horse offered this reminder that the Gunners are one of eight clubs where the line up announcement falls before the deadline that week – i.e, next Tuesday evening.

A strong bench that can frustratingly score more impressively than your first XI is among the risks wildcarders face, according to our top tips and pitfalls of wildcarding. This is something  Highlanderfil knows full well. His impressive Gameweek 23 bench, which included Harry Kane’s 13 points, sparked this  discussion on some of the community’s highest ever unwanted bench hauls.

The Members Tables

Confidence in my assist imminent table is at a high after it predicted Santi Cazorla’s assists against Aston Villa in Gameweek 23. With Cazorla now off the table there are a new array of names at the top to give their owners promise of strong returns.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Greenwindmill continues to top the FFScout moderators and contributors league despite another strong week for Mark, who retains second spot. Meanwhile it was all change at the top of the Puffinboy Memorial Cup where Ciaran Lamont moved into first place by a single point over Back on the Horse.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition, 464 teams survived after 44 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.
Andy in Asia leads the FFS January Wildcard League (352700-723212), which league organiser Red Lightning tells us will remain open to new entries till the end of the season. Meanwhile, in another of Red Lightning’s leaguesSakari Uutela, who is 34th overall, is the new leader of Top 10k Any Season.

In @Ofcprodigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, where the community pits itself against our Scout Picks, Mookie was the overall leader following Gameweek 22, with the Scouts in second and Aliminator and Sticky Mockwell in joint third.

repost.....after going back and forth like 100 times, it would be very kind of u to give me ur opinion.

    foster-myhill
    fonte-bellerin-zouma-naughton-pva
    hazard-sanchez-fabregas-silva-ameobi

plan is to bring in costa back for giroud and replace fabregas by the best performing arsenal mid (cazorla, walcott or ozil). if zouma or berellin are losing their spot will replace by wolly or wisdom.

please help me with ur thoughts. Thanks a lot

Costa could be a problem for another day. Too far off to plan for in my mind, and will be a downgrade elsewhere away from acquiring so shouldn't be too tricky. I'd prefer Cork best of all the cheap guys.

No, not at all. Still not likely the best course of action - but it is only a game. Do what will make you have the most fun. It's hard to keep an eye on that as a regular poster on here but sometimes you just gotta do stuff against the grain!

I saw that, well played on the Ozil pick!

I may as well ask for your opinion on my -8...

Berty, Sanchez and Austin to Naughton, Silva/Cazorla and Sturridge. Thoughts mate? Only problem would be there's no easy route to get Sanchez back, and Wally (and Caz if I get him) would be my only Arsenal players next week.

Ozil about the only thing that went right haha but anyway I like my team more and it's good fun. Differentials and flair to the max.

Yeah I mean there's a lot to unpack there. I can't imagine Wally playing against Leicester - too many options and too short of a turnaround given his fitness problems that I think Wenger won't risk him to start Saturday and Tuesday back to back so that is a problem in and of itself. That would honestly be the main thing putting me off your proposed move. Austin does at least have a home game and you can cover Berty decently enough. Except I mean I guess it's kind of nice looking since you get in Danny Boy who I love and I think it redistributes your funds better within your team for the future. I don't know. Obviously the players you are transferring in are coming in for a reason, but for 8 points that is quite a hefty hit. Ignoring Alexis I think is also just going to end in tears. He's the best midfielder in the game and needs to be owned when fit as far as I'm concerned much like Aguero end of. I vote no 🙂

Just one thing to mention, which may not be music to your ears, but I can see Gayle possibly being benched this weekend. Could see us reverting to a 4231 on the road tomorrow with Chamakh behind Sanogo and Puncheon and maybe Zaha on the wing. Just a bit of speculation on my part but it wouldn't surprise me to see Pardew not go so mental with attacking players in the squad for a road game although he was very positive in our last away game.

He could still start on the wing, or we might go 442 or 433 again I have no idea, I'm just saying that there is a very realistic lineup that we can run out where he does not feature.

Yeah I mean I've got Cisse but am benching this weekend for Moses. Too much of a chance he comes off the bench too I don't even want to risk it. But again, if you are going to bench that third striker anyway, probably better to go with Gayle or even Ayoze to save funds as you will rarely use him.

I see your point but I would prefer Cisse for 27 vs Avl. Very good chance the striker comes on for Sanchez this GW too.

That played heavily in my getting him to begin with..and the pretty nice rotation with Moses...but the boy needs to get fit and start and I just don't know what's going on. I was gutted to not hear any updates from Carver in his presser on Cisse.

Don't feel good about my wildcard. Booted good soldiers Terry, Eriksen, and Austin, who are mostly responsible for my rise in the rankings since mid December. :/ Oh well, can't have them all.

      Me too.

Took out Downing who will now Hammer United during last fixture. And Austin who will score vs saints.

Yep, Downing gone for me too. I planned to keep him as my 5th mid basically all week and then got a boner for Silva/Sterling at the last minute. 😆 Oh well, it hasn't failed yet I suppose...

    Terry, Fonte, PVA
    Sanchez, Hazard, ADM, Silva, Sterling
    Aguero (c), Kane

    Myhill, Bellerin, Hutton, Zamora

    1) Save a transfer and have Bellerin as first sub?

    2) Use FT and get a better first sub?
Zamora > Ayoze (has a good GW27 to cover the blank fixtures.
    Hutton > Haidara
    Hutton > Zouma

thnx both. i as leaning 1 or 2, as i think avl could get score 2-3 goals and oscar getin involved.

rhino-if oscar scores/assist could earn a potential 9-10 (incl bonus) pter vs adm 2 pter which i think hell get ag whu.

baps why wuld u go fr wally/ozil over oscar punch?
