Our pre-Gameweek members article which focuses on the main captaincy contenders arrives once again this evening. As always, we take a three-part approach which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Eden Hazard (26%) leads the way in a closely-contested race this week. The Belgian has managed just two assists in his last four at Stamford Bridge but will fancy his chances of returning to form – visitors Burnley have conceded at least two goals in each of their last six road trips. With that in mind, it’s perhaps surprising that only 17% have opted for Diego Costa – the Spain international has found the net in eight of his nine home appearances so far.

Sergio Aguero is just behind Hazard on 25%. The City striker ended his goal drought with a brace against Stoke last time out and is expected to recover from a minor back problem to welcome Newcastle to the Etihad. With Yaya Toure back on board and Samir Nasri and David Silva both in form, the Argentine will be looking to improve upon a surprisingly poor home record – Aguero has found the net in just three of nine outings in front of his own fans.

Despite serving up five double-figure hauls in the last eight, Harry Kane is backed by only 11% of Fantasy managers as Spurs welcome West Ham to the Lane. Sam Allardyce’s side have managed a single away clean sheet all season and will struggle to keep their hosts at bay, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look for a morale boost prior to next weekend’s Capital One Cup final against Chelsea.

With that quartet hogging most of the votes, there are a number of differential candidates for those willing to gamble with the armband. Romelu Lukaku is backed by just under 4% at home to a Leicester defence that has shipped at least two goals in eight of their last nine road trips, whilst Arsenal trio Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud have been largely overlooked ahead of a visit to Palace.

I am traveling from Colorado to the UK in April and am desperate to get tickets to Anfield on April 11.

My wife and I are making a special trip for our wedding anniversary with the hope of getting to see Gerrard play at Anfield. (We don't want to see him play in LA or Colorado for that matter. That's depressing. We want to see him in his natural habitat.)

Any helpul ideas or connections are greatly appreciated.

Married 25 years. I've earned this.

    Thank you.

I can't guarantee it but there are always folk selling tickets outside the ground at Anfield...very risky though...

And don't forget you'll need an extra fiver for the kids who will "look after your car for you"...

A fiver? There's been some serious deflation in Liverpool. They were asking for a tenner when I went there in the late '90s. I enjoyed telling them I had travelled by train!

So as the DZ is well and truly dead, I may as well start a pointless discussion 🙂

Favourite football kits: There's a few I've always loved (Croatia, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid) but for me it has to be Ajax; such a cool kit. For me the best was this, http://cdn.soccerbible.com/images/archive/Ajax_Vault_main.jpg

Indeed, find me a more visually offensive example than that and I doff my cap 🙂

I agree entirely, been a long time since I remembered a particular team and the players that comprised it just by the kit.

The horrendous grey Man Utd. kit that they changed at half time vs. Southampton I think was another corker.

Seems a solid professional. Was very classy at Valencia. I kind of feel sorry for him in a way. Just not athletic enough for the Prem.

    Captaincy really hard this week

Kane nailed / form combo but spurs after Europe can be a struggle

Kun unlikely to get full run and injury niggle

I feel like hazard form has come off a bit

I don't have Costa and don't think it's worth getting him until his DGW date is known

I do think Alexis is being overlooked a bit. I'd put him behind Aguero in my captaincy list for the weekend.

I think its time for me to balls out on Kane. Cue a blank

Spurs usually trip up against West Ham
If Pelle confirms an Aguero start it has to be him..

Since west ham got promoted spurs have won 5, drawn 3, lost 1 at home and won 5 of their 9 away games as well

Maybe Giroud for me...as crazy as that may sound 5o some. He's not been so donkey like lately..and the gunners look pretty dangerous.

Best replacements for Baird and Wisdom or is one of them due back into the WBA defence?

Just what I get for selling them...measly 8.1 but I am considering getting rid of Silva so could be an extra 1.5 if that's worth it for a -4, which I don't think it is....although I only have terry, Clyne and Bruce..who himself isn't nailed...correct me if I'm wrong.

Either just do wisdom > PVA / naughton and suck up no cover

Or get some much needed funds back there.

Maybe wisdom > PVA this week
          Save gw27
GW 28 Silva + Baird > spurs + eriksen for the double

Means playing a man short next week potentially with Baird but not the end of the world

Start Mane over Downing? Tough to see West Ham getting much at the Lane, but Downing's due some kind of return.

Downing/Hutton/Baird Cousteau bench order or are people backing Villa for a clean-sheet?

      Correct* not Cousteau. Bloody phone.

Downing is due no such thing. His time in the sun is largely in the rear view mirror as far as I'm concerned. Without seeing your lineup the bench looks fine.
