Congratulations to all the victorious teams and a reminder to those that lost that everyone is still in this hunt for glory.

KNOCKOUT STAGES PREVIEW *

Going into the final matchday of the group stages, every team still stands a chance of qualification for the knockouts. Upon popular request, here are some of the permutations of qualification for each team – it could well go down to Net Run Rate (NRR) eventually.

*Disclaimer – There may be an error or two below that I have ignored in a haste. Apologies in advance.

Group A

England and Australia have qualified for the knockout stages with 6 points each. A win for Bangladesh or New Zealand will mean they qualify as well.

Bangladesh are in good position and may be able to qualify even with a loss, as long as their NRR is better than the team/s that end up on 4 points. Their worst case scenario is with them losing their game and NZ and SL both winning their games – in that scenario, there will then be a good chance of them being eliminated.

New Zealand find themselves in a decent position and may be able to qualify even with a loss, as long as they do not lose comprehensively AND Sri Lanka lose their game as well. Their worst case scenario is with them losing the game and Sri Lanka winning, which would mean they are likely to fall back on NRR.

Sri Lanka could still qualify if they win their must-win game against Australia AND one of New Zealand (preferably) or Bangladesh slip up. If Bangladesh slips up, then it will come down to the NRR between the two teams.

Scotland have a small chance of qualification. They need to defeat New Zealand in their must-win clash comprehensively enough for their Net Run Rate to improve, and then hope for other teams to slip up in the group.

Salma’s Predictions: England defeat Bangladesh. New Zealand win their game against Scotland and comfortably make it across the line. Then, Sri Lanka defeat Australia to go through over Bangladesh based on Net Run Rate.

Group B

South Africa and West Indies have already qualified for the knockout stages. A win for Pakistan and India will see them through as well.

Pakistan are strong favorites for qualification. For them to be eliminated, they will need to lose to Ireland by more than 97 runs and India win their game against UAE.

India find themselves in a decent position as well. They may still be able to qualify with a loss. Their worst case scenario is with them losing to UAE and Ireland winning against Pakistan, with India’s net run advantage of 56 runs over Ireland lost along the way.

Ireland can still qualify for the knockouts. Their best chance comes in the scenario where they defeat Pakistan in their must-win clash and India lose to UAE, with India’s net run advantage of 56 runs made up along the way.

UAE’s best chance of qualification is for them to defeat India by 114 runs or more and Pakistan helping them out by defeating Ireland.

Salma’s Predictions: India lose their final game to UAE by a narrow margin. Ireland defeat Pakistan by 40 odd runs and give India a scare by nearly eliminating them from the tournament. Pakistan and India qualify based on Net Run Rate.

LINE-UP SUBMISSION

All managers are requested to email me their four substitutes and their FPL IDs before the deadline of Friday, 1 May, 2359 BST. In case he or she fails to do so, the autosubs will be the last four players on the Squads Page.

Managers may also be likely to post any pressers on this article here. So be on the lookout for latest team news, especially from your rivals. As always, please keep all the match day banter on this thread.

Cricketers, brace yourselves for a drama filled weekend.

Commiserations to Outsie and his team of Jafas. Their displays remind me of QPR, lots of goals at both ends but ultimately a leaky defence has cost them dear. Too-da-loo!

Thanks to ENR, Pratik and Billy ( well a little less to Billy for deserting us tbh) for the tournament. For me these are the most fun I've had playing fantasy sports so please keep it going.

Still can't believe the best team of the 12 has been knocked out but I guess something had to happen to keep the Aussies in with a chance 😆

Good luck to all those still involved - keep the trophy shining so it's in good condition when we bounce back next year.

Great come back by UAE. A 7 point victory! Not bad. But still not enough to get your Camels back.

Well done Badger and Co. Will miss you guys, especially the banter. You are invited to stick around in Camp India if you wish. We treat our guests royally! 😉

If there is no Europa League, I'd be honoured to hang out at Camp India. However, given we won the battle if not the war, I think a fair result would be for you guys to go through to the next round and for us to get our camels back so we can leave with dignity intact. 🙂

As GK said, thank you ENR, Pratik and Billy for organizing this tournament. I've had great fun. I've really enjoyed getting to know my team mates and the banter between teams.

Forgive me if this idea has been suggested and rejected in the past but if the interest is there from within the four teams knocked out today, is there any chance we can form a mini-round robin league and play out three more fixtures between ourselves? All I think it would require is use of the live scorecard to tally the scores. Think of it like the Europa League for knocked out Champions League teams. 🙂

It was an absolute pleasure to have UAE in the competition, you guys personified what this team game is all about - more than just winning or losing. All about spirit.

On the idea, I don't want to take the limelight away from the main competition, so I'm afraid it isn't possible to showcase on the scorecard. Teams in the past have run their own friendly competition, if someone wants to take the lead. Would be great to have you guys interested.

It is with great sadness that Team NZ announce the retirement of their Twitter account.

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the great work done by our Social Media Team. Their dedication, commitment, creativity and ingenuity put them head and shoulders above the rest and as they took Twitter banter and sledging to another level.

Crowned with an unparalleled FOUR Matchday Awards (Social Media), the team showed just how far ahead of the competition they really were.

Our Social Media Campaign Manager (who shall remain nameless), is proud of their achievements and would like to give a special mention to Scott for his DZ tweets which enabled us to launch a never-seen-before 24 hour a day sledging offensive which no opposition could withstand.

We’d also like to thank our opponents for being such easy targets. Team Australia put up a good fight but the other teams were found to be severely lacking  (yes Shadow, we’re looking at you).

Good Luck to all the remaining teams. And remember, we'll be watching you.

reckon this has been the most active tourney so far, well done to the three muskateers for organising it.

really need to try and get the hang of recruiting a full squad in these tournies.

Think a few new faces came on board so should mean they are likely to stay involved next time. Which is always a good thing.

its a shame that UAE, scotland and ireland got knocked out as they were some of the most active players on the forum, which helps to keep it going. Suppose I can get back to my real life of hating the english, swearing and drinking.

top stuff JTD, and thanks to all the UEFA crowd for organising...

I have gone up 22K since the start of the tournament and if it wasn't for the mess I made of Remy then Costa then GRU captain I would be close to top 2K I am sure.. just outside the top 5K now instead but pleased with that and if I am honest I probably wouldn't have been so punty if I wasn't in this so thanks for letting me be part of it once again.

Total 367 points in 5 weeks... over 73 points average.. I will take that..

      Go team Pakistan!

On behalf of my team mates I would like to apologize to the organisers for our apparent lack of presence in the cricket articles.

As we communicate by post, fax, beepers, telegrams and carrier pigeons it has proved difficult to mount any sort of effective PR campaign.

Trev and Vets have organised a team meeting on Thursday evening.

If anyone can spare us any felt tip pens that would be of great help as we use overhead projectors and acetates in our meetings.

Sydney Morning Herald back page -

George Bailders. Australia's chief sledger and tactical maestro, has been like a man possessed in the nets all week. The all-rounder has reportedly lost 24 points of sweat as he works day and night on honing his trademark pull shot in preperation for the big match against Pakistan.
A source within the coaching staff told smh that Bailders also has a surprise for the Pakistani batsmen. "If the doosra and the flipper impressed you, wait until Georgey unleashes his baildinger™. They won't know how to react. Attacking it doesn't work, the way it moves mid-flight means they'll sky it and it drops to Georgey to catch every time. If they try to play it defensively it taps them on the nuts, rolls up and over their helmet and lands on top of the bail. Mate with this ball he doesn't even need any fielders to get em all out for golden ducks" said the source with a confident wink.

The South Africa tour Party has been placed under house arrest by the Management team following two lucklustre performances.

The management team conducted a debrief session and the entire tour party agreed with a self inflicted 8pm Curfew on the entire squad in an attempt to refocus on the Tournament. Having walked the opening two games to clinch a Q/F spot to much partying has been blamed for the recent performances where the only thing they caught in the field was Chlamydia.

Whilst we must respect the "Bangers" we must respect our country and to loose to at this stage would be unacceptable for our proud nation and we would return home only to be firmly rogered by the full length of the Vuvuzela.

Therefore with new focus, WAGs are off limits and master bation has been banned as we look to Come at the Bangers hard and aggressive as they feel the full penetration of the frustrated helmets worn proudly by the South African squad.

Team selection will be based on who has the biggest set of balls to do battle & shows the passion needed to smash these Bangers!

After some careless analysis of Pakistan-Australia, I realize of 30 teams involved only one doesn't own Aguero. Me me me. I'll go get my bench cushion...

Team is up to date on the spreadsheet along with the two people I'd consider for a last minute transfer (both of whom would start this week *if* I brought them in; and put Henderson on the bench).

For now, feels like I'll stick as is unless..................
...................the one and only JC says something to change my mind.

You'd think that... but management keeps playing me every week.

Maybe they'll send me on a fancy holiday to the Seychelles to relax after the tourney.

    BREAKING NEWS

South Africa spin bowler Eunuch de Jelliers was arrested earlier this evening on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was found in the passenger seat of a Humvee that had been seen moments earlier fleeing the scene of a ram-raid on a pet shop; no other people were found in or near the vehicle. Mr de Jelliers was incoherent at the scene. Police report that he claimed, among other things, to have been "springing his mates," and that the erratic driving was down to "that Scots mongrel". A stuffed dog was found propped up in the driver's seat.

Police have asked the public to be on the lookout for a chimpanzee, a badger, a robot, and a piece of cheese that appear to have escaped from the ravaged pet shop. More on this story as it develops.

Okay, so another FFS UEFA tournament, I guess the fifth or sixth one I have been involved in, and for a second time in a row ''too little, too less'' at the end for us.

Nevertheless, it will always be an absolute delight to partake in these competitions, and once again, the banter, though not always friendly, has been fun.

Cheers to Shadow, I totally love your pressers, and Badger, who I traded teams with before the competition, but your team did a wonderful job - we'll face sometime down the line again.

Also cheers to all my 14 team members - especially to the new peeps Lucy and Jaffa (hope you had a great time) and also Reedy, you always do a brilliant job of getting me the team XIs of the opponents - how are you right almost 90% of the time? But on the issues on keeping the getting the team early etc, I promise to start from scratch while picking a team in the next competition.

Looking forward to TWS 2.0 and please let me have Arsenal this time (PLIS MAKE IT HAPPEN FFS UEFA) 😉 .

Best of luck to all the teams who are in with a chance to win this. I pick SL to win.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this competiton and even if we didn't get the result we had hoped for it has still been fun!

It's also been great to be a part of such a fantastic team so many thanks to all the individuals who were involved!

Team Eire will live on in one form or another! 😀

I think most of us in this competition will be sorry to see you guys go. It's unfortunate there was a bit of bother in the early days, but you Irish (along with us and the UAE) were the heart and soul of the competition. See you next time!

Thanks for the post Saniul. Yeah, good fun as always. The team work and support on our team was awesome. Thanks to the organisers for all their work and to our opponents for giving us a good game and the banter. Sorry that I wasn't able to be directly involved in the later games (the ones we won 😆 ) but I was glad to be still involved behind the scenes. 🙂

What i find odd, is that I bet it would have made zero difference if you had been allowed to play. Such a fuss about nothing.

        Commiserations guys.

Sad to miss out on the knockouts by a slim margin, well played Ba$tards 🙂 Just wanted to say participating in the touney was great fun, top banter and just all around great lads on team NZ. Was happy to get to know some members outside of the DZ as well. Thanks ENR, Pratik, and Billy for setting this up, I hope to take part in more UEFA tournies soon as they really made for a nice change of pace in here. Cheers!

Good luck to the rest of the teams in the tourney, and please beat the Aussies gents 😉

    BREAKING NEWS

Journo: I'm here with South Africa cricketer Eunuch de Jelliers, who has just been released on bail pending charges of driving under the influence and breaking-and-entering. He wants to read a prepared statement:

EJ: "I apologise to South Africa Cricket, and to all our fans, for my appalling lapse of judgement last night. I admit that it was a terrible mistake and I deeply regret my poor decision-making. I should never have let that stupid dog take the wheel. I have learned important lessons and I hope I can be forgiven for this one mishap."

Journo: Umm . . . can you possibly elaborate on what actually happened last night?

EJ: Oh, it was just a party for the people eliminated from the tournament at the weekend. But
Sporting kept winding up the Irish!

Journo: But, er, how does that explain the pet shop? And all the weird "animals" that have been sighted in the vicinity? Are you aware there have been reports of a giant potato wandering around a suburban area?.

EJ: Look, I feel for those guys, but I have my own problems. Have you looked at my name? You just shouldn't mess with that little leprechaun fecker . . . Anyway, I can't answer any more questions, I have some serious grovelling to do . . .

Journo: Well, that's Eunuch de Jelliers, and we will have more on this story when we understand what is going on . . . .
