Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

I think he may well have a bit more license to roam this season as he's not playing babysitter to a frequently errant right back this season. At least that's what I'm assuming and hoping for.

      Walcott with the assist.
Hazard didn't shine, was absent for most of the first half. Chelsea lacked the edge without Costa. Still solid at the back as usual. Arsenal defended really well, didn't give much away. Arsenal's midfield looks a goldmine. Whoever gets more.

For me, this is one of the hardest early FPL's in history. 2 of the 3 best players (kun/sanchez) aren't going to play key roles in the first two game weeks and another (costa) is a continued injury doubt. Add to that fact certain teams having absolutely shocking starts has made three of four squads essentially unpickable. I mean, does literally anyone have a swansea or newcastle attacker in their sides?

There is so much talk of early wild cards, not because of the new system, but because it's currently impossible to pick a best eleven from the players available.

One thing I will say, is that I think it will be interesting watching people make the call between the early season flyers (whoever they maybe) and the big city assets and the like when the fixtures turn. I look at my team and think yeah I could do Rooney and Sterling for Kun and a 6m easy if I save a transfer. But if Rooney scores five in three I'm clearly not going to do that am I?

    I'm just rambling now...

It's different because there are other options from the same side who play further forward. Modric was pretty much the main man (along with Bale) whilst Caz is one of many.

Might there be an argument for a forum within the members area devoid of RMT? I am sure this point must have been raised previously. Apologies in advance should this prove to be the case.

Aside from our FPL teams anyone else on here do a large number of teams in other games? For the first season I've got a large number of teams in the telegraph (21) and I was just wondering how others set them up and manage the huge number of transfers you end up needing to do across the season?

So far I've kept all teams to a relatively tight group of players (5 gk 12 def 16 mids 8 strikers) basing most on west brom, chelsea and arsenal defences, nailed on defenders with maximum potential cs across the season to minimise transfers in that area. Thereafter only nailed on mids and attackers with 7 mids and 4 strikers making up the largest % of my teams.

If it helps I used to do loads on the sun
Would set up group of teams to be defence minded and group to be attack, then just make changes that suited that style , once deep into season just focus on ones who were doing well. Then focused rest on monthly prizes. Did still take ages

Should say it was Scottish league so there was only hand full of teams you really picked from

Ok. So the teams that fall by the wayside after a few months, let them go and then just blast the transfers on a monthly or weekly prize. I'll do that.

I've a good few teams heavy on defence 442 with 4 chelsea defenders/gk and a few 352 heavy in attack as they are based around the cheap west brom defence. My main strategy in the first few weeks was not to punt and make sure that as many teams as possible had a solid starts until form players etc could be identified.

Fantasy Football Scout Build My Team!

Ok so the Goalies were voted on, and as I'm sure most of you guessed, the winners were.......

    #RUTLAND!

so that's the first part of our team sorted, and now for the defence, a little more complicated, feel free to comment on why etc. Which Defender set up do you like?

    A) Ivanovic - Koscielney - Francis - Huth - Ward
Premium, 5+ goals guaranteed. Chelsea + arsenal! and a three way rotation for the other spot

    B) Azpilicueta - Mertesacker - Cedric - Mings - Morgan
Cheap Chelsea, Cheaper Arsenal, Southampton and some decent back up!

    C) Clyne - Jagielka - Fonte - Mertesacker - Francis
lots of 5.5 all around strength across the board!

    D) Cedric - Clyne - Toby - Marriapa - Saylor

I don't think you can decide it all in isolation like this, unfortunately. A is best, then B, then C etc. It's your decision how to balance things. That said, I don't like C or D at all.

I prefer one premium defender and 2 rotating pairs. E.g.

      Ivanovic - Francis/Jenko - Huth/O'Shea

Just wondering if you might want to set it up where you don't absolutely have to WC week 2. As it is, you're not leaving much option.

But re: week 2 WC, maybe there are better 4.5 defenders out there? Or maybe you could downgrade Coleman to make one of them a little better?

Silva for sure. Stering might be amazing but i'll sit on that one. Unsure how SOT midfield will go from the start. If ur 3rd forward is a budget like Wilson or Deeny, am thinking something like Wally, Ramsey, Silva, Fab and Sinclair in midfield.
