Liverpool chalk up a third straight clean sheet after emerging from the Emirates with a goalless draw. Arsenal fail to score at home yet again, with Petr Cech keeping the Merseysiders at bay with a string of vital first-half stops.

Arsenal Stutter at Home Again

Despite boasting nearly two-thirds of the possession (66%) and fashioning 19 shots at goal, the Gunners were unable to breach Liverpool’s unyielding rearguard. Astonishingly, the north London club have now drawn blanks in five of their last six matches at the Emirates across all competitions, which might encourage Arsene Wenger to switch things up for their next home encounter.

In light of Per Mertesacker (illness) and Laurent Koscielny sitting out this encounter, Gabriel and Callum Chambers were drafted into central defence. The former was the only member of Arsenal’s back five not to receive a single bonus point, with Petr Cech claiming the maximum three – the former Chelsea shot-stopper amassed 11 points in all, having rebuffed the Reds’ attacks with eight saves.

Alexis Sanchez’s came close to breaking the deadlock when he clattered the upright from close range following a well-worked move, while Aaron Ramsey’s 6% ownership were miffed to witness his goal wrongly disallowed for offside. Both players will fancy their chances of gracing the scoresheet soon, though, given that they face a trip to Newcastle United and home tie against Stoke City in the next two Gameweeks.

Reds Rearguard Holds Steady

Liverpool continued their unbeaten start to the season after carding a third successive clean sheet. Joe Gomez (4.7) turned out a performance that belied his years, quelling the hosts’ threat down their right flank by virtue of his excellent positioning and impressive recovery speed. On last night’s showing, the ex-Charlton defender looks likely to retain his starting role in the left-back berth ahead of Alberto Moreno, rendering him the most valuable route into the Merseysiders’ defence. Three favourable home ties in the next four Gameweeks (WHU, NOR, AVL) only serve to strengthen his claim for inclusion.

Philippe Coutinho (8.1) fired a rasping strike onto the underside of the crossbar in the early exchanges, before forcing a superb fingertip-save out of Cech minutes before the break. No midfielder has attempted more shots than the Brazil international this term (15), which certainly bodes well for a Gameweek 4 clash against a Hammers outfit that shipped four goals last time out and are devoid of Carl Jenkinson and Adrian through suspension.

Christian Benteke (8.5) spurned a golden opportunity to afford Liverpool the lead in the first period but proved effective as the spearhead to their attack. Given that the other candidates around Benteke’s price tag (Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Graziano Pelle) also blanked this Gameweek, his 40% ownership will feel confident ahead of the above-mentioned trio of Anfield showdowns.

    So, my Attack is

    Hazard Ozil Chadli Shelvey Mahrez
    Aguero Wilson SAKHO

and i've got 5 million in the bank 😯 .. i'd originally kept it for Sanchez but Sakho is now proving my main priority out.
    Do I
    A) Blow the cash on Sakho to Costa
    B) Sakho to Benteke and leave cash for Ozil to Sanchez next week.
    C) Sakho to Diouf and leave the cash for Chads to Sanchez next week(Ozil to Yaya/9 million somewhere down the line)

    Was your Wildcard a success?

I know we can't judge a WC on one week but it would be interesting to see what difference it made to your squad. So, how many points did you get this week? and how many would you have got if you hadn't WCd?

I got 53 points this week but would have only got 31 had I not WCd.

Plus, my TV is ~1.4m higher.

I only got 13 more points than I would if I'd stuck completely, and realistically that's only 11 points as I would have switched Adrian for McCarthy if I'd used the FT. So that's an improvement, but not huge... so, was it one worth blowing the WC on?

Yes, I think so. Because I avoided price rises on 5 players I was going to want at some point including Aguero and Gomis, and my team is now worth 2m more than it would be.

    A: Coutinho + Wilson
    B: Benteke + Westwood

With A, I will have bench decision either Wilson or Mahrez in most week.
For B, Westwood will be auto bench in the team below.

    Sanchez - Pedro - Yaya - Mahrez - XX
    Kun - Diouf - XX

Has anyone ever had an assessment day for a job/apprenticeship/internship? If so, what shall I expect? Have one tomorrow that I had no clue about.Ruined my green arrow in fpl 🙁

Had an intern-ship for a few weeks and they gave me feedback on how I did. All quite calm. Probably because I did a good job ;). Anyway good luck BF

I had it after my internship. Had to send in a letter as to why I wanted to do it. Then after the internship I had a verbal test to see what I took in over the weeks.

Why did it ruin your green?
An assessment is something everyone goes through, if you are doing poorly they will tell you, if you are doing well, they will tell you. They will also ask how you are finding it and how you think you could improve. Also, they may ask if there's anything they can do to help you.

It really depends where and for what job. I had one last week which went 1.Group Exercise 2.regular interview 3. Individual presentation.

The first two were what you'd expect but for part 3 I was told the two people were cryogenically frozen in 1974 and I had to explain Cashpoints to them...

Would you take a hit for anything with this team? Really want Kolarov in and am ready to admit defeat on my Ruddy/Rudd keeper combo but surely not worth a hit to fix that?

    Ruddy
    Merte - Cedric - Richards
    Hazard - Ozil - Yaya - Mahrez
    Aguero - Wilson - Pelle

    Rudd - Huth - Sinclair - Coates

Can't see where the points are going to come from with Ruddy though.. Southampton, Liverpool and West Ham away in the next 4?

          Save points.

You need the likes of Hazard and Ozil to step up and hit double figures on a regular basis.

Mert to Kolarov makes sense, even though taking hit for a defender is a sin

I just suggested to make the move, but taking a hit for a defender (generally) is not best practice

Would never class a defender as essential but with their fixutres there aren't many better options.

    Quick poll

    A) Ozil + Sakho > Silva + Wilson (-4)

    B) Ozil > Yaya for free

    C) Sakho > Wilson for free

Watching their games from TV, Darmain cut in many times and looks more likely to get attacking points.

Noticed that as well, but his tendancy to get subbed of early makes me worried. Shaw looked good on attack, but his final ball was poor.

Hes only getting subbed for Valencia, who is a winger by trade so gives Utd more of an attacking mentality. However that has made not a jot of difference to them. Once the strike force begin to fire (if they ever do?) he will most likely not be the one who is subbed imo.

I actually don't mind a defender getting subbed off early - Always a chance they'll have a clean sheet then the team will concede a late goal

Is it because of Terry or Azpilicueta that Chelsea left side is leaking so badly? That's the question for Mourinho, and a question to which he may get an answer now that Terry is out. One or the other, if not both, may be dropped soon if Chelsea continues like this. There's a good replacement available for both now. If the things get better with Terry suspended, he may not come back anytime soon.

      Azpilicueta definitely won't get dropped.

If his side keeps on leaking, there's Baba waiting for his chance right behind him.

What to do here ----> http://imgur.com/2m2x8RP

A.) Bank FT and hope Mane plays and take the 0.1 drop.

B.) Sakho > Diouf and take the 0.1 drop on Mane

    C.) Transfer out Mane

If I do C I'm thinking of getting in Mahrez before he rises. Would then be doubled up on Leicester but I don't think I mind as they have 2 favourable fixtures next.

    Thoughts please?

Do Mane to Mahrez and sakho to diouf for -4. You wont regret it due to the price gains you will get. Read my earlier post..... http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/11063705

          Already read, nice post.

I think taking a -4 when my team looks well set for the Gw and 10/11 playing at home is not justified imo though.

I'm favouring Mane > Mahrez to avoid the drop I think but that's it

After the Sakho 2nd arrest news today, will he even play on Saturday? That was why I suggested you did both really.

Well he's been bailed again and Zarate still injured so they desperately need him.

He's on my bench anyway so as long as he doesn't drop 0.1 which looks very unlikely then I don't mind if he doesn't play.

So the question really becomes is it okay to play both Mahrez and Albrighton for the next 2 matches? (bou) (VILLA) ?
