Following on from Halloween, it’s time to revisit a horror show Gameweek from Granville.

Having gathered an array of green arrows in recent weeks, my ScoutCast co-host produced a pair of transfer howlers, watching on from behind the sofa as both Philippe Coutinho and Riyad Mahrez banged nails into his Gameweek coffin.

Jonty and I do our best to dwell on Granville’s misery for as long as possible, before attempting to cheer him up with similarly scary tales from the community in “Rough with the Smooth”.

We then take on your questions, debating Leicester’s legs, United’s decline and whether we can actually tame the Fantasy Football troll that is Romelu Lukaku.

This episode of the ScoutCast was broadcast live on Tuesday evening (before the news on Hector Bellerin’s injury) via our YouTube channel.

You can catch the full un-edited version of this episode via the larger player below, or take in the “polished” audio effort via this link or the smaller player.

You can get wind of future episodes by subscribing to our YouTube channel.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Tight and tense draw, with chances for both sides. 3 a piece I'd say!

They'd need Buffon, Neuer, De Gea, and the ghost of Lev Yashin all in goal if they had no left back and Arteta at centre back.

I'd actually play Schmeciel if I had the choice out of the two.

I think both will concede, but think Chelsea have more chance of scoring two than Watford. Either way, I wouldn't be expecting big things from either mate, good luck! 🙂

I think save points needs to be considered aswell -so far this season

        Kasper - 33 saves

Yeah, you're right on that one. From what I've seen though, Chelsea haven't really had all that much shots, and haven't been creating much at all (I could be wrong though). Anyways, not much in it at all mate, don't think it makes much difference (watch the goalie you bench save a pen, get a CS and make 16 saves now! haha 🙂 )

I've been switching between Sanchez Vardy and Kane as captain all week. Arsenal have the best defence in the league but with Bellerin out, you never know. What was your thinking behind Kane.

Btw, you're team is shaping up nicely! 🙂

I've looked at this table 15+ times this week, the most helpful out there imo.

But from this, what I'm getting is that Kane and Vardy's stats are both on the up and fairly similar. Is it just that 1 extra SOT that edges your decision? I'm just asking as your ticker suggests Leicester have a better chance at winning + Watford have a somewhat weaker defence than Arsenal. What is your thinking?

As I am so crap at picking, I tend to just go for whoever is at the top of DA, unless special circumstances intervene.

😆 Fair enough. I wish you luck with Kane{C} but I think I'll go with Vardy myself.

No....If a non player then a hit will only be for 2pts assuming the defender you bring in gets 2pts scored...

If it's a good pick you're bringing with a few legs in it then it's worth it imo...

For those with huge benching Dilemmas, here are my thoughts.

    Mahrez ]
Vardy ]---Mentioned above by several, these 3 seem unbenchable.
    Payet ]

The above ^ 3 are highly involved in their team's offense, and have the stats and production that shows they're not set to stop. Payet against an Everton defense who's one of the weakest in the league over the last four in regards to chances conceded. He also has the massive forehead of Carrol to aim at from corners. Everton have conceded the second most headed chances over the last 4.

Pelle: Despite his returns, his Home/Away stats still support a trend that he does much better at home than away. Obviously Sunderland will want to play a defensive game, but they are still feeble at the back. I like Pelle in this fixture, but I think they can handle him in the air. Mane to shine in that game.

Wijnaldum: A player from my team that I'm reluctant to bench because of his and Newcastle's recent stats, which should continue against Bournemouth, who has a similar caliber defense (stats-wise) to the team's Newcastle has been able to put up solid offensive stats against.

Kane: His stats have been great all season, no one can argue that. His production however, not so much. His recent production has come against Bournemouth and Villa, not a CB pairing like Mert and Kosc. I think that they will do their job in shutting him down, and as a whole, Arsenal has the potential to control this game despite its injury ridden squad.

    tl;dr edition:

In order of benchability, from most benchable to least:
    - Wijnaldum
    - Kane
    - Pelle
    - Payet
    - Mahrez
    -Vardy

I hope this helps at least one confused soul. For me, it sorted it out.

Lukaku's record against WHU is sterling, and at times he was brilliant last game. I wouldn't want to bench him, although it could pay off.

KDB is interesting. Obviously central to City's attack, but his goal threat, stats-wise, hasn't been there despite scoring several. If you look at shots in the box, penalty area touches and big chances, he's very far off the pace of anyone being discussed right now. That said, in comparison, I would bench Payet, Wijnaldum, Kane, Pelle and many other players over such a class player against a bottom-dwelling AV.

Those are all great points, thats why i am really struggling this week. I did bring this on myself, didnt think it would be this hard haha.

I just do not see benching Payet this game week. I do not own Kane or Wijn, so it leaves Pelle vs Lukaku vs Kdb.

I will be captaining Mahrez this week i believe or Sanchez, most likely the former.

Wow, it might just have to be Lukaku if that's the way you're leaning.

However, I think, and I say I think, if I had that front 8 I would bench Pelle.

I had Pelle benched the whole week, now leaning towards Lukaku. I brought this on myself last gw when i upgraded Westwood to play AoA with Mane.

I am unsure what to do, i know i will be selling one of those mids over the int break and going back to a fodder mid!

I did precisely the same, Westwood in fact. I can't wait for that either, but until then, a decision like this looms.

If you want to manage risk, obviously bench Lukaku. I don't know whether or not to manage risk with benching this week or play with the risk to reap some differential points.

To be quite honest i might just bench Pelle like i was planning the whole week. I will be bringing Surman for Mane most likely over the Int Break and then seeing what the deal is with Kun. Will most likely ship Cresswell out or Williams.

I know it seems nonsensical, but after last week I think Big Sam will play a lot tighter and I don't see a lot of goals in the game. Could be wrong, but benched Payet last week and got it right, want to roll the dice and go with someone else this wknd.

Another factor is when he does score, he doesn't always get bonus either.

ah you're one of those with a strong 8! 😀

yeah could work out! I would have been more confident if one of your 5 was Mane tho

First time I have done the strong 8. Got frustrated with Westwood option.

Yaya > mane and Pelle > Kun are my next two moves, so the decisions get harder! Doing UFPL helps, used to back B bench points now!

Personally don't understand why anyone would captain Vardy over Mahrez. No. of double figure hauls this season:

    Vardy - 2
    Mahrez - 6

Captaincy is all about explosiveness imo. I am probably going Mane(c) Mahrez(vc)

I also forgot to mention Vardy has over 200 more minutes played than Mahrez.

Doesn't matter if he is just consistently scoring 5-9 pts he is certainly representing value but definitely not doing a lot of damage as a captain.

Completely agree mate. I like captains with the potential to score big points, rather than likely to score a few points. Mane has never been too good to me in FPL though, I know thats not a good reason to not captain him, but still it does put me off.

Thanks. It mainly comes down to getting the correct captain pick. I've scored at least 14 each GW from my captains. Also getting luck with Kocsielny for example, I couldve owned Bellerin but I happened to have the player whos scored 2 in 2 XD
