Vincent Kompany lasts less than 10 minutes before limping out of City’s win over Sunderland. Palace are set to be without Yannick Bolas and Connor Wickham for up to a month, West Ham have worries over both full-backs, whilst Jamie Vardy played through illness during Leicester’s loss at Liverpool. Here’s our catch up with the casualties currently worrying Premier League and Fantasy Football managers alike.

Aston Villa
Carlos Sanchez is an early doubt for Villa’s trip to Norwich tomorrow after being forced off with a foot injury during the weekend draw against West Ham.

Chelsea
Eden Hazard returned to contention with a brief 15-minute run-out at the end of Chelsea’s home draw against Watford. Guus Hiddink went on to say:

“[Eden] Hazard came back in the last week and had two training sessions and we hope he can be fully fit”.

Unconfirmed reports, however, suggest Hazard left Stamford Bridge limping after the 2-2 draw.

Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew has been dealt a bitter blow in the final third after revealing that Yannick Bolasie and Connor Wickham are set to be sidelined for up to four weeks.

Patrick Bamford is a doubt to face Swansea tomorrow, whilst Pardew played down knocks to both Scott Dann and Damien Delaney:

“I didn’t have an option to substitute them, they were fine, they are a couple of warriors. They played well today, it was a very difficult game, tactically, physically, mentally. We need to rest now before our next game on Monday.”

Leicester
Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy were withdrawn during yesterday’s loss at Liverpool due to fatigue, Claudio Ranieri has confirmed. The Foxes boss also revealed that Vardy played through illness at Anfield:

“I hope we can recover. Now it is important we recover physically but more mentally. We have another big match coming up, another big challenge. Both were tired and Vardy played with a fever and I didn’t want to give him more minutes. I wanted to preserve him.”

Liverpool
Divock Origi started up front in the Reds’ win over Leicester but was subbed off before the break due to a hamstring problem, according to Jurgen Klopp:

“They spoke about a little cramp. We will see. I hope it’s not too serious. We have the next game in three days and six days the next, nine days the next – I hope he can play in one of these games.”

Daniel Sturridge has declared himself fit for the midweek trip to Sunderland, whilst Jordan Ibe is a doubt after missing out through illness yesterday.

Man City
City have concerns over Vincent Kompany yet again after he emerged from the bench against Sunderland only to limp off within 10 minutes. Post-match, Manuel Pellegrini conceded his captain has suffered a recurrence of his calf injury:

“It is not the best news for Vincent. He was ready to return – I didn’t want him to play the whole game because we have to play so many games. He worked the whole week with normality and it is difficult to see what happened. We will see tomorrow with the doctor’s report. It is the same injury – his calf.”

The Chilean also went on to issue an update on Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Leicester:

“Kun was on the bench in case we needed him in the second half. In three days, we have a difficult game at Leicester and then 10 games in January. He had a small problem so it was better for him not to take any risks. We were winning 3-0 in the first half so it was better for him to rest. He will be 100% on Tuesday. Zabaleta and Fernando worked over the last two or three days but although they are fit, they are not ready. Against Watford, both of them will be in the squad.”

Southampton
Ronald Koeman has revealed that both Graziano Pelle and Cedric Soares will remain on the sidelines with the injuries that caused both to miss last night’s home win over Arsenal:

“Both players will be out for Monday. They need more time and we have to see how long everything takes until they are back to full training. Graziano is struggling for a few weeks now with his knee. We had a plan to give him some days off doing treatment and no training.”

Stoke
Mark Hughes has confirmed Sheridan Shaqiri “will be ok” after the Swiss international was withdrawn against United yesterday. Glenn Whelan (calf) is a doubt, whilst Hughes is “hopeful” on Geoff Cameron, who was subbed off with a recurrence of a hamstring problem.

Tottenham
Mousa Dembele is doubtful for Spurs’ clash with Watford, according to Mauricio Pochettino:

“It’s a knock on the same ankle but we hope it’s not a big issue. We’ll assess tomorrow and see if he is ready for Monday.”

West Ham
Slaven Bilic is sweating over the fitness of both James Tomkins and Aaron Cresswell after the full-back pair were forced off during the Hammers’ draw at Villa:

“It’s very frustrating to have both full-backs out of the game [during the course of it]. With Tomkins it’s a situation that long-term it’s nothing serious but his eye is shut and the problem is the game is in a couple of days time. Cresswell, he felt some tightness and it was a precaution [to take him off]. We have to wait until tomorrow.”

Interesting times and big captaincy pick. In my team, I think we have the following choice, with the following ledger points.

    A) Ramsey
+As we've seen in the past (notably his breakout season 2 years ago), he's the Man for actually taking a chance and having a shot (though Alexis stole his thunder somewhat in this regard when he landed) - there's a few member's tables that attest to this
+ Arsenal should really outplay Bournemouth, whom will be knackered after a typically hard working performance vs. Palace
+ There'll be a reaction after the horrific Boxing Day performance against our bogey team
    + Ramsey is nailed on
    + Differential
    - Arsenal are Arsenal - as a fan, it's always been interesting to me that if Bournemouth did somehow eke out a 1-0 win I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised
    - Will we show up like we did vs. Olympiakos and expect to win, leading to complacency and thusly another anaemic perfomance?
    - I'll be at my girlfriend's family's post-xmas dinner, so I'll be anxiously checking my phone throughout and open to being told off

    B) Kun
+ Didn't play vs. Sunderland (thank dog!) - fresh and ready
+ Best player in the game, historically
+ Could this be the week we see another explosion?
+ Knackered Leicester, huge concession figures
+ It's on Tuesday so I'm not liable to being told off for checking my phone
+ Still probably a differential captain - most will have a combo of Lukaku / Kane / Ighalo / Giroud as top 3
    - Made of glass
    - Coming off injury - liable to not bust a gut whilst he's warming up
    - 60 mins - can he do it in that time?

    Rest of team is:

    Butland (3.9)
    Moreno Dawson Dann (Daniels/3.9)

      Butland (3.9)
      Moreno Dawson Dann (Daniels/3.9)
      Mahrez Ozil Ramsey KdB (Morrison)
      Aguero (C) Lukaku Kane.

Think I'll go Aguero so I'm not told off. But have I missed anything here?

Yeah that's the thing - if I hadn't got Aguero in for the Sunderland game (blessing in disguise actually) I'd have Rambo, no question.

Think for 13m I should have it on Kun, but just interested to see what others thought 🙂

Yeah I hope we will! I have a feeling Mesut might be liable to a rest at some point, hence why I think Ramsey is the prime candidate for (C) IF I don't do Kun.

Both are differentials at the moment, so perhaps HAVING Kun is enough for now tbh

Maybe Sagna and Zouma are both open to being removed mate: Zouma seems to be rotation fodder for Hiddink, and City seem a bit leaky.

But it's probably Zouma out first dude, perhaps for a Southampton player like Bertrand or Fonte as they have a few decent fixtures coming up.

Ok the time to get Mane out has come. I want Liv mid for the next two games( and potentially after that). Seriously struggling who to get between Hendo and Coutihno. The comparison tool goes towards Coutihno , but i have my doubts.
The constant raining made most of the stadiums a mud hole and the more light and technical players struggle , for example Arsenal's display yesterday(on the opposite- KDB , but i was unable to watch the game so no idea what the pitch was like there). Henderson should be well better suited for such weather.
Additionally Hendo is probably on pens and with the Sunderland team potentially getting hard pressed i can see one of those happen.
Finally all the rivals in my league have Coutihno , so Henderson performing better then C. will be quite a nice boost.

    Any suggestions?

    And why? Cheers

None of those look appealing but Olsson not nailed. Ward/Wolly might be ok but fixtures are a bit troubling.

Took him out for Walker using 1 of my 2FTs. Had enough chasing the Spurs CS. Last 2 games - 2CS - No Rose 🙁

Walker loves the BAPS, has attacking threat and is nailed.

I have no idea why people are getting rid of Vardy. City concede in every game without Kompany and Leicester will surely want to go for a win against them and stay on top. And then they have a home game against Bournemouth next GW.

    Am I missing something?

    Ramsey or Walcott?

Any compelling arguments for one over another?

    1. Art Vandelay
      • 15 Years

If you have the risk appetite, go for Walcott, otherwise go for Ramsey. Ramsey pretty much nailed on whereas Walcott could start one from the bench / withdrawn after 60.

I will likely be going for Ramsey.

Yeah Ramsey seems the safer option. It's a tough one. Will be selling Coutinho too which I'm not too happy about.

    Any thoughts appreciated:

    Butland | McCarthy
    Bellerín | Dawson | Alderweireld | Moreno | Souaré
    Sterling | KDB | Ozil | Mahrez | Bolasie
    Kane | Vardy | Lukaku

2 FT, £1.9m in the bank.

    A) Bolasie to Alli
    B) Bolasie to Alli & Vardy to Ighalo
    C) Bolasie to Ramsey & Vardy to Ighalo
    D) Bolasie to Alli & Vardy to Giroud
    E) Bolasie to Alli & McCarthy to Gomes
    F) Other?

As you can see I have no idea.
