Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke grab a goal apiece as Liverpool come from behind to see off Palace at Selhurst Park. Elsewhere, Salomon Rondon maintains his fine recent form by netting West Brom’s only goal against ten-man United at the Hawthorns.

Firmino form continues

In a stunning turn of events, ten-man Liverpool recovered from a one-goal deficit to seal a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the 96th minute.

Roberto Firmino drew the Reds level at the 72-minute mark, meaning he’s now tallied two goals and as many assists in three starts since operating in “the hole” – allaying concerns that his attacking potential would be curtailed by his switch from the lone-striker berth. In fact, no player has contributed to more goals (seven goals, four assists) than the 8.2-priced Brazilian in 2016, underlining his rise to prominence.

Those Fantasy managers in possession of Firmino will likely want to hold onto him ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming blank, considering that Gameweek 34 is a prime option for one of their future doubles.

In the absence of Daniel Sturridge – who was not deemed fit enough to take the field at Selhurst Park – Divock Origi was afforded his second successive start. Christian Benteke later replaced his compatriot and went on to convert from the penalty spot in the dying embers.

Having been sent off for two bookable offences in the capital, James Milner will be sidelined for Liverpool’s Gameweek 31 trip to Southampton, before returning to face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

At the back, Nathaniel Clyne dropped to the bench for the first time this term as Jurgen Klopp allowed the fit-again Jon Flanagan a second straight start, with Alberto Moreno returning to the left-back berth. With rotation looking likely over the run-in, then, many Fantasy managers may be reluctant to invest in the Reds’ rearguard, with Simon Mignolet now perhaps the safest bet.

Eagles fall to defeat

Despite taking the lead through Joe Ledley – who bagged his maiden goal of the campaign – the Eagles were unable to capitalise on their one-man advantage, ultimately extending their winless streak to 12 matches. Given that Palace face off against Leicester, West Ham and Arsenal in a four-match spell beyond their blank next Gameweek, we’re unenthused by their differential potential.

To make matters worse, Yohan Cabaye was replaced at the 70-minute mark because of a knock, rendering him a doubt for the Foxes clash. Alan Pardew is also sweating over the fitness of Connor Wickham- the forward had netted back-to-back braces but missed out through injury yesterday.

Rondon in the goals again

Salomon Rondon – one of our differentials this Gameweek – notched his fourth goal in five starts (Sebastien Pocognoli assist) to guide West Bromwich Albion to their first home victory over Manchester United since the Premier League’s inception. Pitched at 6.5, the Venezuelan frontman is displaying great form of late and is well placed to punish the generous rearguards of Norwich City and Sunderland over the next three Gameweeks (ars, NOR, sun). That Arsenal match is subject to change, of course – if the Gunners prevail against Hull in tomorrow’s FA Cup replay, their weekend trip to the Emirates will need to be rescheduled.

As for the Baggies’ defensive output, they recorded their second clean sheet in four outings. By virtue of his security of starts and offensive threat, Craig Dawson (5.1) – who ranks third among defenders for shots inside the box (23) this term – remains our favoured route into West Brom’s back line, though the right-back was subbed off with a minor foot problem and requires assessing. With regards to their short-term shut-out prospects, the Canaries failure to net in four of the previous six Gameweeks is a positive sign.

Mata off as United stumble

In the wake of their defeat at The Hawthorns, the Red Devils have tasted victory in just one of their last eight road ties. That’s a pertinent fact when you consider that they embark on trips to Manchester City and Spurs in the three Gameweeks following their imminent blank.

Chris Smalling’s return to the starting XI served as a boost to Man United’s defence, yet they proved ill-equipped to compensate for Juan Mata’s dismissal in the 26th minute – the former Chelsea recruit was shown a second yellow card for a cynical foul on Steven Fletcher, ruling him out of an FA Cup encounter against West Ham.

Up top. Marcus Rashford was afforded a third straight start yesterday. Louis van Gaal re-installed Jesse Lingard to the first XI at the expense of Memphis Depay, who had previously started each of the last two – this saw Anthony Martial take up the left flank berth vacated by the Dutchman, with Lingard stationed on the right wing in United’s 4-2-3-1- set-up.

Posted this yesterday, bit annoying the odds on over 3.5 have fell from 11/4 to 5/2, although it means the bookies are worried I might be right.

Chelsea vs PSG Bet365 Guaranteed money thoughts from myself :

Since Hiddink has arrived in December 5 out of Chelsea 7 home games (in the league) have ended with 4 or more goals.
Since Hiddink has arrived Chelsea have conceded in all 7 of these home games.
If PSG score (likely) Chelsea will need to score at least 2 to progress.
After 0-0 and 1-1 draws at the weekend for PSG and Chelsea respectively I think we are due a bit of goal-fest.

    -------------------------------------------------
    So I propose:

    Pre-match bet
    £50 on under 3.5 goals at ¼

    In-play
    £50 on over 3.5 goals at 11/4

    Under 3.5 goals - £12.50 profit
    Over 3.5 goals - £87.50 profit

He's got a blank and I need to put out 11. Eriksen has avl, BOU in his next 2, then it's probably WC time so he can come back in.

My reservation with Daniels is that he has a good GW this week and then has some awful fixtures (tot, MCI, avl, LIV, CHE) so it's literally a 1 week punt.

Great score and I see you're getting closer to Doolittle by the week! That Dawson injury was very unlucky. I benched Bellerin as well but can't complain as the 3 I played all delivered. The awful Lukaku penalty is what hurts the most!

Remember that it's not just Prem teams in the FA cup. Huge wealth for lower league clubs can be generated by garnering a big replay at a premier league or top Championship club. It's selfish to think they'd drop them for good of the top flight IMO.

I took out Sanchez and payet. Benched king and Toby.

But I put in siggy and silva who got the same points and now set me up for gw 30. And Costa and targett didn't play so king and Toby came off my bench for an extra 20 points!!

Completely listened to jonty over the last few weeks. Even had king cos he previously suggested it. 102 points and went from 100k to 26k. Thanks jonty

Had 2 FTs, knew one would be Sanchez > Sigurdsson.

The other was between Valencia > Afobe...or Lingard > King seeing that I didn't want to commit too much more budget in 5th mid and handcuff future DGW moves.

King appealed to me due to slight OOP potential, but read some news about him being VERY DOUBTFUL for the clash so decided not to do it. Rough.

Ended up saving the 2nd transfer actually, so still a smooth for me seeing that Adobe blanked and I fielded Lingard in his place (both 2 points).

Smooth-Established a 69 point lead over my housemate and rival (the same hapless one who dropped Long and Diouf the weekend when Mane went mental against Villa-who I had in my draft league) in my mini league by bringing in Williams and Sigurdsson with one eye on gwk30. I got a total score of 91. Even after he'd triple captained Aguero and I'd left Toby A on the bench.

One step forwards two back for me at the moment: Signing Sig was justified, trouble is I sold Payet. And my defence was a shambles. Not often you're disappointed with 66 points but that was the case this weekend.

      What an eventful week :

      Smooth :
      - My two transfers brought me a CS and max BP (Williams), and a goal and 2 BP (Siggy)
      - VVD and Alderweireld goals
      - Butland autosub for Hennessey

      Rough :
      - Siggy's points (10) came at the expense of Payet's (13)...

Indeed, it was made better by the 2 I brought in, and the fact that all of my defenders delivered (had VVD, Kompany and Fuchs in the 11), but I'm so angry at myself for selling Payet instead of Wijnaldum. Worst thing is I may actually bench Wijnaldum this week, so I had absolutely no need to sell Payet even with the blank!

Smooth - brought in A Williams and Yaya for decent returns.

Rough is a ML specific one:

On Saturday as clock ticked onto 90mins for 3pm kick offs I was set to gain 18pts on my ML leader.

        Then...

Payet scored and resultingly got 2 extra BPs. 7pts to ML leader.

        Then...

Sunderland concede losing me my PVA clean sheets. 4pts lost on ML leader.

        Then...

Charlie Daniels scores. 6pts to ML leader.

So injury time cost me 17pts in my ML. Pretty rough couple of mins!

3 GW's back I transferred in Costa for Aguero. Reversed the transfer and worked perfectly with Aguero delivering against Aston Villa.

As any other transfers would cost me points I debated a defensive transfer. (Many say never spend points on a defensive transfer.)

In the end I opted to do Cresswell to Williams (for -4) as Everton are strong at home and I know Williams BPS potential.

        9 - 1 - 4 = 5 points gained #winning

Everybody on my team except Vardy scored something, including my bench Fuchs, Alli and TobyA. I guess we will see if gambling on Arsenal beating Hull and dropping Ozil over Payet or Fimino was actually the right decision in the coming weeks but this is easily my best ever gameweek in my fantasy manager career: it can only be downhill from here.

Mostly smooth with 1 small rough patch

the smooth - getting Yaya in for 10 points despite Sanchez scoring. Hitting a century in a non-DGW after my midfield all returned double digits, plus my double Leicester defence and VVD

the rough - Igahlo to Paloschi, Paloschi subbed at HT. Had i kept Ighalo I would have benched him, played Alli and gotten a City defender or Williams in for Ward

Scored 102 points. . Sanchez and Stanislas to Yaya and Sigurdsson = 14 points gained from 2 FT.

Also 9/11 players contributed with only Gomes and Vardy letting me down 🙁

Smooth - Transferred in Silva & Siggy for Sanchez & Barkley, Captained Aguero and got 29 pts from my GK & Defenders, despite not having a clean sheet between them. All of which lead me to a season high score of 102.

Rough - The rest of the season, despite this score it only got me up to 276K in the overall rankings.

There've been a lot of posts on DGW/Blank planning, but just wanted to put my plan out there to see what holes you guys can poke in it. 🙂

There'll be more teams with a double in GW 34, so I'm leaning towards using Bench Boost then to have a wider pool of players to choose from. Also, players with a double in GW 37 are likely to be more expensive on average, which would make it more difficult to put out a decent 15.

So, wildcard in GW 33, BB in 34 and TC in 37.

That would mean that I'd struggle to play 11 in 35, but I'm willing to gamble on that for three reasons.

      1. Plan to keep 2 FTs handy going into GW 35.
      2. With adequate planning while widlcarding, should be able to ensure 9/10 playing.
      3. I'd have DGW players in reserve raring to go for GW 37.

      What do you guys think?

                    It's just terminology - if I Wildcarded today, I personally would say that's a GW30 WC, not a GW29 WC as GW29 has finished.

I don't think Arx means that, because if he did he wouldn't have felt the need to distinguish transfers "in" a gw from transfers available "going into" a gw

He does have a bit of spark about him, but the goals/assists stat has a lot to do with circumstance rather than being in great form for me.

Are you talking in general or just in the case of Firmino?

Firmino. I owned him up until this week through all the goals, so not complaining, but a lot of them were fairly lucky I felt.

8 greens in a row.. from rank 1.4mill to rank 400k.. maybe I can still get an ok rank of top 100k after this disastrous season..

And if anything, these next few weeks are were us lot should really be climbing. I'm sure you'll get a relatively decent rank.

If (and only if) Alli is out.... Would you do the following:

      Alli + Ighalo* -> Ayew + Kane (for -4)
      and bench VvD?

OR just do Alli -> Silva / Yaya and play both Arnautovic and VvD?

Tricky. I'd lean towards the second option, but I'd rather Ighalo to someone and stick him on first spot on the bench as cover for Alli

That's what I was initially on but I can't get anyone decent... Kane is blocked due to already having 3 spurs... Already have Kun + Vardy.. so that leaves a bad bunch...

          Afobe?
          Paloschi?
          Stoke forward (Diouf?)

          😐
