We now take time out to assess the weekend’s ten matches this Monday lunchtime. Arsene Wenger’s tinkering up top, Aaron Lennon’s goal-getting form, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Salomon Rondon’s talismanic showings and Liverpool’s lack of double Gameweek options are all on today’s menu.

Siggy is single-handedly driving Swansea to safety…
A goal against Norwich on Saturday took the Icelandic international’s tally to eight strikes for the season – his highest haul in any Premier League campaign. Since Francesco Guidolin’s first full match in charge away to Everton back in Gameweek 23, Sigurdsson has played a part in five of his side’s eight efforts, courtesy of four goals and an assist, and has also earned ten bonus points over that period. With Bournemouth, Villa and Newcastle in the next five, he’s looking primed for further points as the Welsh club look to seal their safety before the fixtures turn for the worse in Gameweek 35.

… and Rondon is the Baggies’ new talisman…
It’s four goals and an assist in six Gameweeks now for the Venezuelan as he belatedly justifies his lofty summer price tag. With Saido Berahino back in the mix in recent matches, Rondon’s contribution has helped Tony Pulis’ side to wins over United, Palace and Everton and a draw against Leicester in the last four, with the Hawthorns outfit now sitting within touching distance of the 40-point mark. With two of the bottom three in the next three Gameweeks, Rondon has the form and fixtures to maintain momentum in the mid-price bracket.

The Gunners’ lone striker role is up for grabs…
After fielding Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud up front against United and Swansea over the last week or so, Arsene Wenger handed the lone striker role to Danny Welbeck for the weekend north London derby. Whilst Welbeck failed to find the net at White Hart Lane, the reshuffle saw Aaron Ramsey score for the first time since Gameweek 21 after being shifted to the right flank, underlining the Welshman’s attacking potential when fielded further up the pitch. With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez nailed on, a role on the right for Ramsey could result in a straight fight between Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck for the spot up front in Wenger’s default 4-2-3-1.

Hiddink has faith in Traore…
Devoid of Diego Costa through a last-minute injury, Guus Hiddink chose to start with the likes of Loic Remy and Alexandre Pato on the Chelsea bench and handed Bertrand Traore a second straight start instead. Having provided an assist from the right wing away to Norwich, the youngster led the line against the Potters and vindicated his manager’s decision by opening the scoring at Stamford Bridge. Bearing in mind he also scored at home to Newcastle in Gameweek 27, Traore – who was afforded just eight minutes by Jose Mourinho – is starting to emerge as a capable back-up option should Hiddink look to rest his star striker over the run-in.

It’s Lennon’s place to lose …
The Everton winger has now netted in four of the last five league matches after finding the net in the weekend home loss to West Ham. Lennon has now racked up 41 points over those fixtures and, despite the fine on-pitch understanding between Romelu Lukaku and Gerard Deulofeu, looks nailed on down the right for Roberto Martinez. At a price of just 5.6 and owned by less than 1% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, Lennon is shaping up to be a fine differential for our five-man midfields, bearing in mind that the Toffees still have two double Gameweeks to follow.

Payet will keep Antonio under the radar…
It’s six goals and five assists in 15 straight starts now for Michail Antonio, after he found the net for the third successive league match at Goodison on Saturday. Despite a very favourable price of 5.4, the former Forest flier continues to remain overlooked (3% ownership) due to Dimitri Payet’s displays – the Frenchman last-gasp winner, allied with an assist, ensured he hogged the headlines once again. Antonio, though, has averaged 5.5 points per game this season – that’s joint-fourth amongst midfielders, with Payet’s 5.8 placing him third – and could well be worth a double-up for our double Gameweek planning further down the line.

Silva and Toure are on the rise…
A home clash against Villa allowed Manuel Pellegrini to roll out a 4-4-2 last weekend as City went on the offensive. Whilst Wilfried Bony fluffed his lines against the basement-dwellers, David Silva and Yaya Toure both returned to form ahead of a Gameweek 30 trip to Norwich, with nine and ten-point hauls respectively. Given that the Canaries have shipped 12 goals in four at Carrow Road, Pellegrini may well look to continue with a two-man frontline as he attempts to bolster City’s title credentials. With a double also to follow at some point, Silva and Toure look the main supplements to Sergio Aguero as we look to navigate the tricky schedule.

King could be the Cherries’ prime pick…
A tactical tweak by Eddie Howe has brought the Norwegian back into the frame. The Bournemouth manager’s decision to switch from 4-1-4-1 to 4-4-1-1 has allowed King to flourish once again – tucking in behind Benik Afobe, he racked up 13 points as the in-form Cherries swept aside lacklustre Newcastle at St James’. Although Matt Ritchie has stepped up in recent weeks and fit-again Max Gradel boasts some decent underlying numbers, King – at just 4.3 – could be back on our radars as Howe’s men square up to Swansea at Dean Court this weekend.

Daniels just keeps on giving…
A goal in the weekend win over Newcastle continued the left-back’s extraordinary Fantasy turnaround. After 13 Gameweeks of the season, Daniels was sitting on 25 points – that’s an average of 1.9 points per appearance. Since then, Daniels has embarked on an outstanding run of form that’s served up three goals, four assists, six clean sheets and 14 bonus points in the subsequent 16 fixtures, at an average of 5.8 points per game. Now up to second in the defender standings, there’s no real surprise to see nearly 50,000 FPL managers draft him in since the weekend as Daniels is finally afforded a much-merited bandwagon.

Targett’s time in the sun looks over…
Having changed to 4-2-3-1 in the first half of the Gameweek 28 loss at Bournemouth, Ronald Koeman ditched his 3-5-2 completely for a home encounter against Sunderland. After racking up 29 points in three straight starts between Gameweek 21-23, Matt Targett has now started just two of the subsequent six as his manager chops and changes his tactics in an attempt to get the Saints back to winning ways. With Jose Fonte now suspended for the weekend, though, Koeman looks unlikely to revert to three-at-the-back away to Stoke and, at a time where so many teams are without a fixture, Targett’s owners may well be set to reassess their weekend options.

Firmino remains the Reds’ prime pick…
Many expected Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge to return to the Liverpool starting line-up yesterday after both dropped out for the midweek win over City. Perhaps Klopp has one eye on Thursday’s Europa League clash with United as he looks for a last chance of silverware in his first season, or maybe he’s just desperate to avoid further injury setbacks with the duo. Either way, Roberto Firmino’s Fantasy stock continues to rise – afforded a twelfth straight start by his manager, the Brazilian’s strike took his tally to seven goals and four assists in eight and with a pair of doubles still to be scheduled, he remains the stand-out Anfield option right now.

Flanagan’s return muddies the waters…
After benching Alberto Moreno for the midweek win over City, Jurgen Klopp rested Nathaniel Clyne for the first time in a league match this season as the Reds travelled to Selhurst Park. With the fit-again Jon Flanagan excluded from Liverpool’s Europa League squad, Klopp is clearly determined to utilise the depth of his squad to cope with the busy schedule. Flanagan’s return, however, merely adds to the mix in defence ahead of their two double Gameweeks and with Klopp afforded plenty of options at centre-half, it may well be that Simon Mignolet is the only safe starter for those eyeing up their defence.

Do agree with others in that it can be dangerous but if you are comfortable financially then it can be fun just don't take it too seriously or put stakes on that you cant afford to lose. I enjoy betting against my FPL team just for fun anyway

In terms of advice follow @Footyaccums on twitter if you want some betting tips and things.

Do NOT follow this account. They are scam artists who are affiliated with bookmakers and make money when people who have signed up through their affiliate links. You will lose money if you follow them, there's account on Twitter who post the profit/loss figures for footy accums and it's frightening.

Don't really agree with all of the other's saying don't do it.. As long as you can apply self control (Which I realise some can't) and are only gambling a reasonable amount that you can more than afford to lose I don't see the harm.. It's as much a form of entertainment as anything else.. Don't see how it's any different to cash mini leagues for FPL and stuff.

I vary and bet on what I think could happen at long odds.. In the last few weeks have won nothing but been a goal short on 3 £5 bets that would have returned £2000+.. I enjoy doing it alongside watching a game and the results.. Adds an extra amount of fun (and frustration) to the football!

Initially you need to assess what chance you think a team has of winning.. When you have done this if the price of that team is greater than your estimated chancers then it represents a bet. For example when Leicester played Man C away they were 5/1 . My assessment of their odds was 7/4 so this was an outstanding price. Conversely they are now 5/4 to win the Prem. I am not saying they wont win it but a more realistic price would be 11/4 so this I definitely not a betting opportunity.
I would suggest that you have 6 weeks of working out bets but NOT placing them. See if you come out top side over this period. If you do then you will be able to make money at it. If you don't then keep clear of the bookies.
      Hope this helps.

stick to singles. pick one selection and leave it at that,eg I had £30 on spurs and arsenal both to score on Saturday @4/6,returns £50,had a nice curry meal with the winnings, bookies hate singles that's why all their ads are aimed at accumulators of 5 or more, good luck but having a bet makes even villa and wba worth watching....

Give yourself a reasonable fixed pot or a small weekly allowance, but not more than you can afford to lose and be strict with yourself and don't deposit beyond this limit if you hit ruin. I started in pre-season with a fixed £100 pot and if I ever run that out I plan to just walk away from it. Another alternative if you're on a good steady income is say to allow yourself a £5 deposit a week.

If you're prioritising money over fun, don't do accas, don't bet in play and don't cash out.

As slouch87 says bet on *value* i.e. your perceived chances need to be better than the odds given. Sometimes its a 5/1 bet you think should be 3/1 sometimes its a 1/3 bet you think should be 1/4. But looking for value is always better than sticking to one heuristic such as backing Barca or Bayern every week or backing home teams only.

If it's recreational only bet on matches you're going to watch and in this case a 5 game acca say with two saturday games, two sunday games and a MNF game can be fun as it gives you somebody to support in each. Personally I don't see where the fun is in supporting league two sides you're not going to watch just to.

Ex Ellen analysis Balders. There are too many bad gamblers around who can't resist backing a team with no regard to the price , as we both know that is why bookies continue to make profit. Keeping discipline is crucial as for me betting isn't fun it's quite simply investing for profit. In a few weeks time my football betting will cease for this season anyway as it is the time that short false prices start appearing as the bookies batten down the hatches for the season.
Hope you have made healthy profits this season.

I'm only betting long range at the moment so waiting for late April for money to start coming back in but I'm projected ~20% ROI at the moment. If Aguero finishes top scorer and my pre-season rele treble of Norwich/Sunderland/Villa I'll have doubled what I started with. I hope it's been going well for you too Slouch.

That's a good return and 20 - 30 % ROI each season is always my aim. This season more than any other has provided some good opportunities. I have loaded up on the the winner of the PL . My bets stand at:-
            £360 - £60 Man C
            £320 - £40 Spurs
            £360 - £30 Leicester
I am effectively laying Arsenal to £130
I am currently debating whether to back them at 5/1 to guarantee profit but do not believe they can win it as they are too flakey.
            What would you do ?

You need to put aside an amount you are prepared to lose each week and stick to it. Don't expect to win 10k on a £1 acca on the first weekend. Really you need to play the long game for it to pay back. Obviously there will be exceptions.

If all goes right for our bench boosted dgws, what type of scores are we expecting? I think with 14 players + mahrez we start at a floor of 62 points just for minutes played (assuming everyone gets the 2 for > 60 mins in both legs).

If I my full team (bench included) performs like they did this week and manages another 9 goals, 4 assists, 17 bonus pts, 2 yc's, and 1 clean sheet, I'm thinking my weekly score can be around 130ish. I've conservatively ignored captaincy pts, save pts, minus pts from 2 goals conceded and midfield pts for clean sheets. Looks like a few managers may actually cross 200 in a gameweek!

    - 5 of the top 10 in the FFS captaincy poll delivered attacking results this week
    - The special mention of Mahrez 5/2 anytime came in 🙂
    - Only 2 of the top 5 most likely to keep a clean sheet did just that with a continuing lack of clean sheets across the board this season
    - Of the 10 matches predicted (using fluctuating odds as a guide) 7 of them were selected correcty!

I'd quite like to see these chips trashed next season (or maybe just AOA). I think it spices the game up for the diehard but also changes the feel of the game a bit too much for my liking.
Or maybe whilst they are tinkering they try something different like an AO Defence or Double Keeper or Transfer hold/price hold, Bonus 16th man of any position.

        Just a thought.

      I wouldn't sweat it honestly.

When push comes to shove, some single GW players will most likely be kept.

If not there will be some inferior replacements, and the odd one is bound to be rotated. I foresee a lot of buyer's remorse.

Given the GW34 DGW options thinking about the best team to field at this moment
    Adrian DDG
    Ota, Bell, Cress, PVA, Rojo
    Yaya, Payet, Mahrez, Ozil, Firm
    Aguero, Luk, ?

Know alot of people were saying how you can plan to get that full 15 for BB in 34 but it just doesn't seem feasible if we can get a full team out in 30 without at least 4 or 5 points hits...

I only have Bell, Yaya, Mahrez, Ozil and Aguero though know others have GK, ManC defence and Payet so maybe can be done

I'd like to see the current chip system replaced with mandatory chips every 6 or so GWs, e.g GWx will be a BB for everyone, GWy will be a TC for everyone, GWz will be an AOA for everyone etc etc - I have enjoyed the late season DGW planning goings on, and I think that mandatory chips early in the season will mean that we are constantly planning for upcoming events, while making the "when do I use my chips" dilemma a bit less randomly successful.

If Rose is out for four weeks then Ben Davies looks a handy cheap defender punt for GWK 30. Not an incredible ppg but reasonable returns. Crucially he's only 4.1

        13 starts

        5 clean sheets
        2 bonus
        2 assists

3.76 ppg across his 13 starts

Step 1 wait until Thursday - we should know when lots of the doubles will take place
Step 2 these will be in gwk 34 and 37. More is to come in GWK 37 though with GWK 35 blank.
Step 3 if you think gwk 34 looks good for getting 15 dgwk players that won't harm your team in GWK 35 then wildcard in GWK 33 and use bench boost. If you like the look of a captain then triple captain him
Step 4 - if you don't like the look of those doubles then focus on GWK 37 and wildcard in gwk 36

I think "killing" the Genesis/Yes type prog-rock is a reason many like it. Of course it didn't really kill prog-rock, and I think there are merits to every genre, but the idea of this new, exciting, hardcore wave destroying the "old hat" that preceded it is appealing to many. It's also prevalent with Sonic Youth/Pixies/Nirvana et al blowing away a lot of garbage from the 80s.

There are some great punk albums though, and the absurdly brilliant Marquee Moon came from that era and movement, though I would never class it as a punk album.

Obviously it didn't kill it. Music has to evolve..
