Daniel Sturridge grabs a goal and assist as a much-changed Liverpool get the better of Bournemouth. Alexis Sanchez and Yannick Bolasie both find the net in a 1-1 stalemate at the Emirates, whilst Jamie Vardy is sent off as Leicester and West Ham share the spoils at the King Power.

Sturridge wins it for Reds

A much-changed Liverpool side recorded a 2-1 victory at Bournemouth to cap off a sensational week.

Promoting a veritable meltdown within the Fantasy community, Roberto Firmino was the only survivor from the Reds’ team that vanquished Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, ensuring that Philippe Coutinho, James Milner and the first-choice defenders and Simon Mignolet were absent from the starting XI.

The 32,000 managers that invested faith in Firmino were richly rewarded as the Brazilian midfielder popped up with his fourth goal in six starts. Daniel Sturridge registered a goal (Jordon Ibe) and assist, validating 50,000 managers that took a calculated risk recruiting a frontman that’s tallied four goals and two assists in five outings. The fit-again Sturridge has now started Liverpool’s last four league outings and with Divock Origi a minor doubt for the midweek Merseyside derby, may well retain his role in Klopp’s XI.

Notwithstanding the form of the above-mentioned duo, Liverpool’s progress in the Europa League makes it nigh-on impossible to accurately predict their line-ups. With the upcoming clashes against Villarreal taking place on April 28 and May 5, yesterday’s ten alterations are perhaps indicative of what we may come to expect as Klopp looks to end the season with silverware.

In-form King bags another

Bournemouth fell to their third defeat in four outings and have now shipped eight goals in their previous trio of home clashes.

Despite his side’s problems in defence, the 4.3-priced midfielder Joshua King continues to impress. Fielded up front once again, his late consolation (Andrew Surman assist) means he has now found the net in four of the last six Gameweeks, highlighting his out-of-position budget potential. Although the Cherries’ embark on a perilous run-in (CHE, eve, WBA, mun), the Norwegian marksman’s latent value is hard to ignore.

Sanchez strike not enough for Gunners

Arsenal failed to capitalise on their territorial dominance at the Emirates as they recorded a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

To the relief of managers that were burned in the early fixtures, Arsene Wenger rejected the opportunity to rotate the likes of Gabriel and enacted a solitary change, recalling Petr Cech for David Ospina.

The runaway winner in our Captain Poll, Alexis Sanchez, came up trumps with his fourth goal in five starts. Looking at the remaining schedule, match-ups against Sunderland (away), Norwich City (home) and Aston Villa (home) could help maintain his explosive run of form to cap of the Chilean’s topsy-turvy season.

Mesut Ozil posted his fifth blank in six appearances, prompting the German’s 43% ownership to weigh up their options. Given Sanchez’s clinical finishing of late and Alex Iwobi’s emergence as a cut-price route into Arsenal’s offense, Ozil’s stock has diminished slightly on the Fantasy market.

Danny Welbeck laid on the assist for Sanchez’s header but has now failed to score in five of his last six outings, increasing his risk of rotation and Olivier Giroud’s case for a starting berth ahead of Thursday night’s home match with West Brom.

Bolasie earns Eagles a point

Palace are unbeaten in four matches and seemingly safe from relegation following their stalemate in North London.

Sold by over 20,000 FPL managers after failing to earn any points in last week’s pair of home matches against Norwich and Everton, Yannick Bolasie rewarded his patient owners by scoring the equaliser (Emmanuel Adebayor assist) nine minutes from time. The DR Congo international will do well to further his tally in this round of fixtures, considering that the Eagles are next pitted against a Man United side that’s surrendered just seven goals at home all term. With a blank Gameweek 35 up next, though, an imminent exodus looks on the cards.

Vardy dismissed as Foxes salvage point

Leicester City shared the spoils with West Ham United in an incident-laden 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Jamie Vardy’s resurgence continued with his third goal – courtesy of an assist from N’Golo Kante – in two outings, but the Foxes lone striker was later sent off for earning a second yellow card. Owned by 47% of FPL managers, he now sits out the promising home encounter against Swansea City next time out, whilst reports suggest that the manner in which he reacted to the dismissal could potentially land him an extended ban.

Elsewhere in the Foxes camp, Leonardo Ulloa bagged from the penalty spot, with Jeffrey Schlupp grabbing the assist. Riyad Mahrez registered his third consecutive blank, yet his 64% ownership will remain optimistic as Leicester prepare to host a Swansea outfit that ranks joint-bottom for clean sheets on the road (one).

Carroll in the goals again

West Ham United succumbed to a late equaliser in the East Midlands but nevertheless extended their unbeaten league run to eight matches.

In response to his team’s midweek cup exertions against Man United, Slaven Bilic opted to rotate against the league leaders, demoting Andy Carroll (50,000 new owners) and Manuel Lanzini (35,000 new owners) to the bench. Michail Antonio’s 10,000 new backers were also left frustrated by the manager’s decision not to relinquish him of his defensive duties – despite the fact that the Hammers had James Tomkins and Sam Byram on the bench.

With regards to the Irons’ Fantasy output, Carroll lays claim to five goals in four outings after converting a spot-kick (Winston Reid assist) and looks poised to return to the starting line-up for the midweek visit of Watford.

Aaron Cresswell reaffirmed his status at the prime route into West Ham’s rearguard, notching his second goal of the campaign. With trips to West Brom and Stoke bookending a double Gameweek 37, the raiding left-back could be poised for further returns over the run-in.

Setting up a couple of stat tables in the members area and I'm now looking for some guidance as to how the columns shots, shots - inside box and shots - six yard box relate to each other.

My instinct tells me that shots - inside box is a subset of shots (pretty obvious) and that shots - six yard box is in turn a subset of shots - inside box. Can anyone please advise on whether I got it right?

Also, what does Shots - Long attempts indicate?

    Thx

A glimmer of hope for some of us, if I may?

Bournemouth are safe. There was no way that playing the reserves against them would affect anything major. Add onto that that Thursday night took so much out of Liverpool that some players really did need a rest.

At home to Newcastle, this really matters. Playing the reserves would almost hand an advantage to Newcastle, questioning the integrity of the league.

Can Klopp really put out the same side v Newcastle that he put out v Bournemouth?

i think he values sportsmanship very much. He is such an impressive individual.

i would be shocked if he puts a similar team out to the one he had vs. Bournemouth. Newcastle are in a relegation fight, and fair play demands Liverpool do their best to win the game.

Mignolet, for one, will play. i think he plays every game from here on in.

Ibe I doubt would play. Randall either. And I think the first team centerbacks will also play vs. Newcastle.

There will be some normal rotation, putting Coutinho/Firmino at risk most of all, and Sturridge/Origi. But the kids won't play. I'd be shocked.

It could be argued his weaker team is the better team on the night because it is fresher and keen to impress - all the players need game time to get in to their national team euro squads - anything is possible

        1. Jersey
          • 9 Years

that would be a very hard argument to make.

Randall better than Clyne? Ibe better than Coutinho? Ward better than Mignolet? Oyo better than Milner?

all those kids get plenty of gametime with Liverpool's u21's.

the Bournemouth game meant nothing, to either team. the Newcastle game means something, something big, to 3 teams.

Klopp wants to win the Europa League, which gets them a Champion's League spot. He has already beaten Dortmund, the favorite. Bournemouth was the perfect time to rest many players. Even his goalie was given off, because the game was meaningless.

Put it this way, the Newcastke game is 3 days after a Merseyside derby and 4 days before a Europa semi, do you really think Klopp is going to play his front line team midweek against a dodgy Newcastke team kicking and fighting gut their EPL life ?

Of course the big players are better, but on the night the second stringers may be the better option in such a game

            Just saying ...

overall, the starting team was stronger than the one that played at Bournemouth, and would have been stronger still had Sakho not been charged by UEFA. he would have played for Toure.

Mignolet in goal. Ojo and Ibe not in the starting lineup.

the only two players i would question were Connor Randall and Kevin Stewart. Stewart is a senior player, and he played well against Bournemouth, so his inclusion, though open to question, is quite acceptable.

Connor Randall's inclusion was a mistake. Nathaniel Clyne is a mature, seasoned professional and does not need rest. Randall's failure to deal with the cross to Cisse allowed Newcastle's first goal, and that goal ultimately cost them the game. They were up 2-0 and cruising. I assume that Clyne would have gotten his head on that ball and saved the goal, but that is speculation, of course. But he is a far better player than Randall.

the team was strong enough that I doubt Klopp will get much flack from Big Sam or the press. but i would not be surprised if Randall's inclusion is not questioned by one or both.

Agree with you. And bear in mind it's Saturday - Thursday from Newcastle to EL semi final. Klopp will put up a reasonable strong team for the Newcastle match. May be he will rest Firmino, one out of Sturridge / Origi (whoever he thinks will suit the semi final match up will not start) ,Coutinho (because he is so important) and 1 out of the preferred back four.

Unfortunately Klopp's strategy makes perfect sense. They are playing lost of matches (pretty much every midweek) for the last month or so. Everton match is the derby and resting players for the Newcastle match could provoke some inquiries as to the integrity of the league. So BOU match wa logically the only one he can rest lots of players.

Is there any nailed Chelsea mid for rest of the season? Other than Fab/ Matic or is Chelsea totally no go zone?

      Mahrez with Vardy out

Why would Mahrez do better with Vardy out?

        1. Cradders

Because Leicester still need wins and they can't rely on Vardy, Mahrez input isn't controlled by Vardy playing

The Mahrez Vardy link up is pretty much the reason why they are leading the PL.

          Why would he not?
Ranieri may let Mahrez unleash his flair again with no other outlet for goals

No way he´s changing his tactics all of a sudden. Mahrez been playing pretty deep lately and will probably continue with Ulloua and Okka up front. May get pens though.

    For GW35:

    A) Martial + Lukaku -> Defoe + Kane (play both)
    B) Smalling + Lukaku -> PvA + Kane (bench PvA)

    Team is:

    Mignolet (Robles)
    Simpson, Huth, Gabriel, Clyne (Smalling)
    Sanchez, Iwobi, Coutinho, Mahrez (Payet)
    Aguero (Martial, Lukaku)

    Would you agree with this

If Firmino doesn't start midweek he's a great pic to end of year

As surely plays Saturday , then maybe rested for Europe games

After a previous post, it was apparent that I was not the only one having issues being redirected to a gaming site from the FPL on my android phone.

It seems that using the mobile site http://m.fantasy.premierleague.com/ instead of the standard site avoids that constant redirection.

Hopefully that helps someone having the same issue...

Can I get some thoughts on this move:

Lukaku and Martial -> Kane and Defoe +1.2 mill (-4)

My team at the moment is:
    Mignolet Robles
    Smalling Bellerin Gabriel Sakho Simpson
    Sanchez KDB Coutinho Payet Lanzini
    Lukaku Aguero Martial

    1FT and 0 ITB

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw Liverpools XI and none of my 3 players were in it.

    Martial, Mitrovic & Lanzini too.

    Good times

to add that I sold Bolasie for Coutinho for a hit and had double Arsenal defence. Was really painfull to see that Bolasie goal 🙁

Which one is better strategy for rest of the season? Load up with players who have dgw coming or players who has something to play for?

Loading up on players with DGW is something I won't be doing again! Bench boost to waste

Try to get both but I think the ones with something to play for. Depends of the quality of the team, the player and the opposition

Kane and Defoe for Lukaku and Martial have them both. Both have something to play for and other one have dgw coming?

That's probably the transfers I'm going to do tbh. or PvA for Smalling instead of Defoe for Martial

Hi Guys, Any thought on these moves for GW 35
    2 FT 0.2ITB

    Mignolet
    Bellerín//Fuchs//Sakho
    Sánchez/Payet*/Coutinho/Mahrez/Lanzini*
    Agüero/Martial*
    (Robles*/Smalling*/Lukaku*/Delaney*)
    *= blanks

    Would you go:
    Lanzini/Martial > Alli/Defoe., Lanzini/Martial > Pelle/Drinkwater or some thing else?

If there were only 2 teams in the Premier League, Arsenal would still find a way to finish 4th.

If Kolo Toure is out injured, who will be the 2 CBs starting this midweek game?

    A) Sakho + Lucas
    B) Lovren + Lucas
    C) Skrtl + Lucas
