Tuesday evening treats us to just a single head-to-head as West Ham host Man United in the final league fixture to take place at the Boleyn Ground. The outcome of this evening’s match could have significant repercussions in the race for European places, with the visitors requiring a win to leapfrog neighbours City in the race for fourth spot and Champions League football.

Delving into the attacking data, the numbers bode well for both teams tonight. In terms of overall attempts across their respective last four, both West Ham (70) and United (65) sit amongst the top five, with the Hammers bettering their visitors by 42 shots inside the box to 35. Indeed, Slaven Bilic’s side have produced more than double the number of big chances (13 to six) than the Red Devils, which bodes well for their chances of bouncing back from Saturday’s disastrous home defeat at the hands of Swansea.

Looking at the defensive numbers, though, United’s defence have conceded just 24 shots inside the box over the same time frame – only Newcastle (17) have managed less. Whilst the Red Devils’ recent resilience is summed up by just one goal against – compared to their hosts’ seven strikes conceded – it’s somewhat surprising to see that Bilic’s side have allowed the opposition only four more efforts (28) from close-range than their visitors ahead of tonight’s encounter.

I'd take just a Payet assist tonight, can't be any worse than the Swansea game

There's still a marginal chance that West Ham get that place if they absolutely hammer ManU and Stoke and City loses at Swansea.

Can't they? If they win ManU and Stoke by 14+ goals and City loses at Swans, wouldn't Hammers go to CL qualifiers?

10-0 today, and it's a mission half accomplished already. Plus I would really enjoy Carroll's and Payet's goal and assist fest.

When did everyone start calling it the Boleyn Ground again?

As long as I can remember, I've always known it as Upton Park and that's always been how it's been referred to in TV etc.

Boleyn Ground is it's real name and they wanted it's last days for it to be known by it's proper name.

Antonio at RB has been such a liability, considering how good his attacking form was when he first started. Byram and tomkins both fit and much better defenders.

Hoping a result today but can see United winning :/

How about being the club that can lay claim to creating Lampard, Lampard Snr, Joe Cole, both Ferdinands, Carrick, Bonds,Glen Johnson, Noble, Defoe...

Having a good club history is more than just about how many trophies you have 🙂

Besides being at the Olympic stadium next season we will have more fans every week than Liverpool, City, Chelsea and equal with Arsenal. Thats a lot of people to turn out to watch a team that you say is 'dissapointing'
