Defending champions Spain lose their 11-match unbeaten run ahead of Euro 2016 after falling to defeat at home to Georgia.

Spain 0 Georgia 1

Spain suffered a shock 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Georgia in their final pre-Euro 2016 friendly last night.

Vicente de Bosque opted for the defensive quartet he mainly favoured over the qualifiers, with right-back Juanfran, who sets you back 5.5, the cheapest option in defence. The Atletico Madrid man was replaced at the break by Hector Bellerin (5.0), though, and bearing in mind that the latter played from start to finish in the previous two, there’s perhaps enough doubts over Juanfran’s pitch time to reconsider his acquisition.

Elsewhere at the back, Gerard Pique – owned by 11% compared to Sergio Ramos’ 29% – proved the greatest close-range threat for the home side and fired three attempts inside the box. David de Gea, meanwhile, was handed his first start in four, though admits he is still uncertain over starting berth given that Del Bosque has now fielded a different keeper in each of the last three.

Despite firing 17 attempts on goal, Spain managed a mere three shots on target, with Del Bosque’s decision to opt for Aritz Aduriz over the in-form Alvaro Morata up front failing to pay off. Given that the former managed a single attempt on goal, Morata will fancy his chances of returning to the XI for the first group match with Czech Republic.

Del Bosque once again opted for Nolito on the left flank. The Celta Vigo man was unable to replicate the form that harvested back-to-back braces against Bosnia and South Korea, he was still joint-top for attempts on goal (three).

The likes of David Silva and Andres Iniesta were afforded second-half sub roles by Del Bosque. The former teed up three scoring chances in just 38 minutes but his team-mates failed to convert.

Spain XI De Gea; Juanfran (Bellerin 46), Ramos (San Jose 46), Pique, Alba; Fabregas (Iniesta 46), Busquets (Pedro 76), Alcantara (Koke 46); Vazquez (Silva 61), Aduriz, Nolito

Do we know who Northern Ireland's #1 keeper is? Carroll and McGovern seem to have played equally?

So Bale has been classed as a DEF, MID and FWD in fantasy games, has that happened to anyone else before?

Not sure. I remember Paul Warhurst was classed as CD/CM/CF in Championship Manager in the 90s. He was class in that game.

Why do people list a cptn per single day if the rules state the below?

"The captain bonus will be lost from your original captain if a new captain is selected. Substitutions and captain changes can't be cancelled once confirmed."

Why not? If the first captain failes, you just switch. You will lose his capain bonus - not his points.

I've gone two at the moment.. Rami or Rose could become Djourou/Scharr.. It was the previous post saying Djourou was not going to be fit that changed my draft. Still might do it though, definitely fancy them for cleanies in their first two plus all look nice for attacking return possibilities too.

v similar to mine below, gotze for me is a rotation risk is all. if he plays though good picl
      don't know anything about dzsudzsak
      defence looks solid
what are your plans if one of the big forwards starts firing them in, WC or strategy for transfers?

      1. GoonerByron
        • 14 Years

Going to ignore Ronaldo/Ibra/Lewandowski regardless of what they do.. Hoping spreading the budget across the team and the ability to bench those that don't perform stops me needing them..

Muller is a big hitter I'm worried about.. If Gotze isn't secure then I may downgrade him to somebody like Fabregas and upgrade Mandzukic or Kane to Muller.

Dunno if this is 'new' news by now but Ray Lewington may have helpfully revealed the England lineup for the 1st match. Chuckle Brothers springs to mind, but if Rooney's playing MID after all it re-opens the idea of picking Kane or Vardy for some.

I made a table over which teams concede most penalties, who has most goals scored from direct free kicks etc. I find it interesting that so few penalties are conceded. Sweden conceded most (4). Switzerland have a lot of goals coming from corners, which would make Shakiri intersting, but who wants to have him on one of the precious forward spots?

What do you think stands out on this table?

Faberglas, Forsberg, Ozil, Renato Sanchez, Matuidi

    Ronaldo, Muller, Giroud

I'm thinking about downgrading cr7 to Kane/morata and that will allow me to upgrade giroud to griezman and Renato to some 7m.
    What do you think?

0.5 left in bank which allows me to change ozil->gotze.
      Should de gea start?
      Is cr7 worth it?

Sanches not nailed on to start - although arguably worth the risk at 4.5 if you have enough faith in the rest of your front 7.
I dont have Ron meself although I'm giving it serious thought - you won't get many easier fixtures

Sergi 'McVities' Busquets looks good value at 5.5 to me - plays 90 mins and gets the odd goal/assist
