Today’s first Euro 2016 match is only the second British home nations clash at a major tournament, as England take on Wales in Group B.

The two sides have a long history on the international stage, having played each other 102 times, with England winning 66 times to Wales’ 14 victories, the last of which came in 1984.

Chris Coleman’s Wales go into the match on the back of a confidence building 2-1 win against Slovakia, where an impressive eight of their 11 goal attempts were on target.

In contrast England’s confidence took a knock after they conceded in injury time in their 1-1 draw with Russia. Roy Hodgson’s team will have to be more clinical if they are to beat Wales after seeing two thirds of their 15 goal attempts against Russia fail to hit the target.

A performance to rival that of their only previous home nations major tournament tie, when they beat Scotland in Euro 96, may be needed if England is to get the better of their noisy neighbours.

Yup, not too easy to get that one right, I bet for most of the watchers' (me included) first thought was that it was an offside. Then, appears it was a Williams instead.

Not sure why keepers have walls with free kicks that are over 30 yards away.

It only blocks their vision and results in them reacting later than they could have to the flight of the ball.

    Thoughts?

I'm sure if they didn't have a wall the offensive team would just make one anyway (to block his vision) and then get out of the way. Much like they do now by tagging on the end of a wall and then breaking off.

Yes but that would benefit the defending team then: more defenders to mark attackers.

I suppose, depends whether you're crossing it or going for goal though.

Having a wall stops the keeper looking like a right plum

Doesn't matter if there's a wall or not there. No keeper should be getting beaten from ~45 yards.

Unless your name is Joe Hart, who's had a reputation for making huge cockups in big games on a regular basis.

He was never that good, just over-hyped because he's English.
