The first Euro 2016 match of the day sees Sweden take on an Italy side in confident mood after an impressive 2-0 win over Belgium in their first Group E match.

Antonio Conte’s team will be looking to repeat that solid tactical display if they are to beat Sweden and remain among the tournament’s main title challengers. Under the Chelsea manager in waiting Italy are unbeaten in 11 competitive games. The Azzuri will also be looking for their fourth clean sheet in a row, which they last achieved during the 2006 World Cup, a tournament they eventually won.

Sweden are set to once again rely heavily on a strong performance from their veteran forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored 11 goals for his country during qualifying. However, Erik Hamren’s side will need to improve greatly on their laboured 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland in their opening group match, in which none of their seven goal attempts was on target.

Actually no, similar to a number of religions, the goals represent enjoying the intercourse, therefore to be truly pure, you need to take the sinful enjoyment out of it, thus leaving us with only the plain basics, the pure game uninhibited by passion.

Purists probably watch United Passions with a crazy grin on their face.

What makes you think that? It's more boring because of the added teams. Fact.

I'm not going to continue arguing this with someone I don't know or will ever come across in real life (probably lol).

      "so far" 🙂

This was always going to happen with so many teams going through.. The onus is on the defence being tight. Should *hopefully* open up in the knockouts..

I know 🙂 I was agreeing with you. The attacking play has been blunt. I wouldn't say it's been boring but it hasn't got the heart racing either. It's enjoyable in a different way..

This tournament is more of a Shawshank Redemption as opposed to a Star Wars.

The competitiveness of each game has been thoroughly enjoyable though. There has been a slight lack of that quality "spark" in the attacking play but each game is fairly end to end and the lack of goals means that each attack holds more worth 🙂

I might be in the minority here, but I think people are mistaking 'attritional' as boring. I think some of the games have been thoroughly engaging.

Can't believe some people still only care about goals instead of appreciating great commitment, passion, tactical awareness and quick tempo of the game.

I simply enjoyed watching a 0-0 Poland vs Germany game yesterday more than the 5-4 Liverpool vs Norwich match.

Fair enough, if you enjoy a 0-0 more than a 9 goal thriller, there's no point arguing.

I am not. The Norwich vs. Liverpool game was full of amateur mistakes and sloppy goalkeeping. Norwich's tactics were an absolute mess. I do enjoy, however, watching two well-organized teams, and I also really enjoy huge scores - but only if they are a result of terrific attacking displays, not a result of shaky back lines led by Bassong and Moreno.

Exactly, you probably picked the worst 9-goal-"thriller" possible to compare it 😉

Similarly, Brazil's capitulation against Germany wasn't enjoyable past a certain point. Just too many mistakes, painful to watch.

                • 11 Years
                10 years, 1 month ago

It was the first 9-goal "thriller" that came to my mind, honestly. 😀

On the contrary, we had games like Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal, Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal, Inter 4-3 Tottenham - high-scoring and enjoyable.

          • 11 Years
          10 years, 1 month ago

I can only tell you based on his performances for Poland, as I've never seen him play for Terek. Good player, would be first choice for the national team if it wasn't for the injury. Can play on the left side of midfield and defence, and he tends to score screamers from free kicks 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXpj3G1V01k

Are you aware that his contract at Grozny is ending and he's about to join Olympique Lyonnais on a free transfer?

Can be good move for both parties.

And thank you! Btw, has he scored more free kicks? Does he take set pieces for Poland when available?

              • 11 Years
              10 years, 1 month ago

He scored 18 goals in 4 years in Terek, and yes, he did score more free kicks as far as I'm concerned. Most of the free kicks are taken by Milik, not sure with corners, though.

Would prefer to see him in the Premier League, he would be gold if classified as a defender. 😀 Although the move to Olympique is also promising, given that they'll be playing in the CL next season. Good transfer imo.

I feel like it probably should be, when they are overtly promoting a game to hundreds of thousands of people every day.

I'm sure it's been thought about already, just wanted to raise it.

How so? To gamble is to take a risk, therefore it is no way responsible.

If you are willing/able to risk a set amount of money for the thrill it brings then it isn't necessarily irresponsible. No different to putting money into another hobby

But that risk is not responsible. Responsible means having control over it. A risk takes away that element. Yeah it's fun and what not and i gamble every day and have a family ingrained in betting. I've had a PP account for 3 years and never put in more than the 40 pounds i started with. Responsible would to be to keep the money.

As a gambler myself it is a bit of a double edged sword.
Those of us who gamble statistically as part of a long game strategy actually benefit from the numpty gamblers in terms of better prices. I am not condoning this in any way but it is how the industry works. The way the stock market operates is no different and actually those traders are gambling with people's pension funds.

I don't think we're going to be doing more on these games than in previous seasons - we've always had them on our pages and supported DFS via the early days with PlayOn, then Mondogoal, Premier Punt and Fantasy Bet. We're careful to limit the number of partners we have in a single season and the amount of coverage we run.

I just think the DFS games are now getting bigger and their influence on the Fantasy Football market is growing. We're a business - we have to be and have been for several years - so therefore we're in that market and can't ignore it.

We're careful to include reference to the required age and terms of conditions of partners. Of course, right now in the US the whole DFS and gambling debate continues to rumble.

It's not just a commercial thing - I genuinely enjoy playing them and feel they are perfectly aligned to the audience that enjoys crunching stats and gaining an advantage by doing so.

It's not for everyone and, of course, they should be played responsibly and in moderation but it's always been part of Fantasy Football. The Sun have had multi-entrant managers paying thousands to enter 100's of teams to compete for big prize money for years and continue to do so. These games are just making that kind of experience more accessible over shorter weekly and daily periods.

Absolutely, I started out doing those myself about a decade ago. It's just accessibility has consequences, and when it becomes part of a site with huge influenceand, I would expect a fairly large young audience, then it's a big issue.

It's not an issue I feel you guys are mishandling, and you being so open is reassuring, I just wanted to raise it on here as during the Euros it's definitely stepped up as a proportion of total site content.

It's just that I previously posted a comment with prices from a range of bookmakers which got removed. I have no problem with this but would just like to know for future reference.

Actually, I am not bored by them. I am constantly irritated by the variety of their little niggles and fouls.

Some of your opinions are frankly ridiculous.

Well, they are mine. If you feel that they are ridiculous, that is your problem. 🙂
