Surely if the example of a player assisting his goal himself is that he makes a dribble or a solo-run, it is not an evident logical conclusion that it is meant that the player only assists his goal himself if he dispossesses the opponent. That would be the logical interpretation if the example was "e.g. dispossesses opponent". In this case, the logical interpretation is that the player sets his own chance up by dribbling, and whatever exactly that means it does not mean "by dispossessing the opponent".

From the UEFA match report - the most important indication as they don't use OPTA:

"Hazard (Belgium) scores!

They seem to credit the penultimate action as evading the three defenders and no assist is mentioned. Whether this goes against the wording of their rules, though it almost certainly does, is probably irrelevant as I've yet to see them go against their match reports. Djourou's non-assist in the group stage is another that springs to mind.
