We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

            Captaincy is what makes him a bargain. If there was no such thing as double points for captain Aguero would probably not be the "must have" guy.

    Conte on Costa -

    ‘Diego is our player. He is a fantastic player, a player with a fundamental importance and there is no problem. He stays with us, he is working very hard, he is very happy to work with his teammates and with me in the new idea of football. He is a Chelsea player.

    What are people's thoughts on doubling up on defences when they have a strong run of fixtures and are good value for money, such as West Brom and Middlesbrough?

    From what I understand, there is a lot of hate for doubling up and I am not sure why?

      Doubling up is okay, but I wouldnt do it on an unproven defence at this level like Boro's.

    FPL was working fine for me earlier. Now I can't select any players or enter a squad.

    All I can do is auto-complete the 15 but again it won't let me enter a squad.

    Has anybody else experienced this and is there a fix?

      I had this issue! To add a player you have to click on the 'i' that brings up the player information, and then click add player.

    Can't believe so many are going with Shaw.. He's just come back from 10 months out, it's not like United don't have other players that can play there.. Wouldn't be trusting him to be injury free and getting consistent 90 minutes from the start of the season

          If Shaw isn't considered nailed then I don't think Bailly is either, has Jones and Blind to compete with assuming Smalling is first choice.

      Players also get injuries after long periods of time out with an injury, takes them a while to get back to full health and fitness.

    How come nobody's looking at Phil Jones as a cheap way into the United defence? Lots of reports that he will be either the favoured partner to smalling in the centre (with Bailly as a young back up to grow this season) or even as an Ivanovic-esque figure at right back?
