Dugout Discussion – Arsenal vs Liverpool

The Gameweek rolls on with a showpiece fixture at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal host Liverpool in the tea-time encounter with a host of Fantasy talent on show.

On paper, this could be a tight and cagey affair but Arsenal’s injuries at the back may just prompt both sides to go on the offensive.

Certainly Jurgen Klopp has named an attacking line-up, spearheaded by Roberto Firmino and supported by new signing Sadio Mane and the guile of Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.

That quartet with surely stretch the Gunners backline with Wenger forced to start with a pairing of Calum Chambers and new signing Rob Holding.

Wenger will look to Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott to provide a response at the other end, with Aaron Ramsey set to start in the number ten role in the absence of Mesut Ozil.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Starting to doubt about selling vardy after this tweet:

    Wenger still uncertain whether Koscielny, Ozil and Giroud will be available for trip to Leicester

    Basically this means Arsenal will still be having problems creating chances, keeping ball possession and being able to defend properly. But the real question is: can Leicester step it up a level?

      They managed to create enough chances to get a penalty and three goals today.

      Defensively I can see Leicester potentially causing them problems, which is why I am sticking with Vardy.

        Those goals were more defensive errors from Liverpool than real chances imo. I thought Arsenal was pretty weak today but Liverpool wasn't great defensively either.

      I'm keeping Vardy, don't fancy hits with an already low score and have plenty of other messes to sort out. The start of the season is too unpredictable to warrant it. Arsenal look shaky, Vardy got in to 2/3 positions he would have scored goals from last season.

      I'd strongly consider Vardy -> Costa if he scores tomorrow, otherwise I'm keeping (although I'd probably reconsider if his price looks like dropping).

      He was careless with the ball and gave it away numerous times. At halftime, the TV dudes showed a series of turnover committed by Mahrez as a point in how poor he was. Still, everyone has bad games. He is a superb talent.

    Anyone who had a bad week needs to relax. Dont get too up if you do well or too low if you score poorly.

    My advice is look at the game highlights. Did your 2 point guys get plenty of minutes? Did they look a threat? Did they assist the assister? Are they proven fantasy assets? Classic example if you had Firminho over Cout/Mane and Tadic/Long over Rednond you did no wrong it was just this side of the coin this week. Also clean sheets are hard to predict let alone on the first weekend.

    Everyone will have a bad week at some point through bad luck not bad decisions. The first week might even be the best time to have it.
