The Gameweek rolls on with a showpiece fixture at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal host Liverpool in the tea-time encounter with a host of Fantasy talent on show.

On paper, this could be a tight and cagey affair but Arsenal’s injuries at the back may just prompt both sides to go on the offensive.

Certainly Jurgen Klopp has named an attacking line-up, spearheaded by Roberto Firmino and supported by new signing Sadio Mane and the guile of Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.

That quartet with surely stretch the Gunners backline with Wenger forced to start with a pairing of Calum Chambers and new signing Rob Holding.

Wenger will look to Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott to provide a response at the other end, with Aaron Ramsey set to start in the number ten role in the absence of Mesut Ozil.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Thoughts on deulofeu.

When Lukaku returns he'll be less nailed, rotate with Mirallas and Bolasie

Lukaku back next week. He won't be false 9 but is nailed on and could still do well with decent fixtures to come.

Don't think he is nailed. He still struggles to do 90 mins like last season as well

If Lukaku is back and Deloufeu is nailed. Who will be out of the team then?
I have Deloufeu myself and want to keep, but I'm concidering replacing him with Gaston Ramirez.

Currently sat on Long as my 6.5 striker, I fancy getting in Rondon but is it looking like Negredo's price might rise? I don't want to miss that if so

Do you want Negredo because you think he will keep
Scoring or just because his price may rise? Surely Long deserves more than on GW?

Just because his price might rise, I have Tadic who looked very good yesterday I doubled up because I thought Southampton would do well against Watford, now it's Old Trafford next and I don't fancy their chances.

I don't remember the knee jerking been this bad before.

People completely writing off players they own as bad if they didn't score point in the first week. And assuming those that did will continue every week? Crazy place.

Yeah I suppose. Just crazy. People transferring out players before they've even played is just plain mad. GW2 wildcarding, if you're team is that bad that it needs a Wildcard already then you should just quit as you must be horrendous at this game.

If this is what you think of Arsenal why start with 3 Leicester. Surely today hasn't made you think they are a force that you didn't think before this weekend?

Your team your decisions but dumping Mahrez before he gets to play against Chambers is asking for trouble.

Out of the three he would be the last one I'd lose.

So, I guess most people here had a original plan for GW2? Have you abandoned your plan or are you still sticking to it?

Mine was Vardy -> Ibra after GW1, but it's really hard since Ibra didn't look that great (according to a lot of people here) and Vardy has ARS next. Then again, Vardy seems to be off pens and Arsenal will hopefully be a bit tighter in the back. And Ibra is playing at home, on Friday night...

Just watched Rondon again, he's looking the business right now. Five goals in his last seven competitive games now (one of the games he failed in was a cameo) including notching against Uruguay and Argentina...

I just get the feeling he's now strong enough to bully his way to a good season.

Yeah I don't get people saying he didn't do anything. Did they watch the same game as me? Beautiful assist to Rooney who should have scored. Could have had another goal and showing he's gonna be on direct FKs. Also 3 BPS so obviously good stats. It's also his first game and things will get even better.

Martial did way less for his points. One failed shot to a lucky assist. The Zlatan assist was just a normal pass that he got lucky Zlatan scored from way out the box.

Just been playing around with my FPL team and made a transfer by accident - thinking there was still a "confirm" page to come (as there used to be). Annoying!

So, a bit like an unwanted pregnancy, welcome to my team Redmond! And a mistakenly fond farewell to Tadic.

he was immense against Barca too. I think Klopp may have found his ideal position, never thought he would be the one to keep Can out of the team! I think Hendo could be dropped for Can though although he was good today.

Emre Can had a knock that's why he didn't start today. I'd like to see Lallana - Can - Wij behind the 3 vs Burnley personally. And Henderson right back for now, Clyne left back. But that's my opinion 🙂

      1. djenzio

I watched that Wally goal again and we had the ball going forward, Moreno made a run up the wing and Arsenal won the ball back unexpectedly, surely Hendo, Gini or Lallana should have dropped back to cover his run though? I know he made some serious errors today, the peno being the major one, but Klopp encourages his FB to attack and get forward so the midfield needs to cover him when he does, the gap he left was huge but is he meant to just sit back deep when we have possession?

        1. Clump
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

Stinks. Error prone. No positional sense.
Clyne never gets exposed like he does. Really don't like him.
It's all the time, not just today. Can't tackle either.

          1. djenzio
            • 11 Years
            9 years, 7 months ago

That's cause Clyne doesn't get forward as much and is all round a much more consistent player. I am not saying Moreno is better than Clyne, or an amazing player, I think he gets criticised for more than is just for what he does, his positional play can be poor but take the goal in the Europa final, he got slated and solely blamed but no one tracked back to cover him when he went forward,

He had one of the best chances created last season, he is very good at going forward, and the midfield need to track back and covered him.

Lots of people slate Firmino too, say he always looses the ball. It's a load of bull.

this. Rooney scored a goal, same as Ibra, but was far more involved in the game, albeit he was pretty rubbish he was more involved. It doesn't make sense that Ibra got 3 baps over Rooney and Mata.

Defenders rarely get bonus in a 3-1 win scenario unless they contribute to the goals. The weight of goals and assists in the BPS is just too strong. Blind outperformed Bailly in the BPS regardless - he won more tackles and earned more clearances, blocks and interceptions.

If we take MotM as a guide to bonus, Sterling would have earned three bonus over Aguero. I doubt we'd have been happy with that.

There is no "total" solution that fits all match scenarios. The opinion of pundits or a man in the stand can often be spot on but, equally, it can be very shaky and inconsistent.

At least we have a chance to read the BPS and select players that fit it.
