The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

I don't know if you really want him in a game like this though, faster player vs. high defensive line makes sense

        This.

Long could have had a goal if showed more composure and didn't snatch at it. There's ask bit of space in behind to be exploited, you could see it from that move.

If the second string mids like Redmond and Lamela keep delivering more than the midfield names, then unbalanced works. But it's a big if that creates loads of nervousness whenever Eriksen, Alli, Coutinho, Firmino, Tadic etc are on the pitch. With Kun and Ibra on board a left to right big name midfield is just not possible.

The template is well and truly stamped now. I'm a liverpool fan, but it's good to see uniTed looking reasonably exciting again. Pogba looks so comfortable.
I can see soton getting back in the game if they press abit more but then that will only end with more crosses for the tallest guy on the pitch.

Imagine how the FPL game will open up when Ibra or Kun get injured.......its a long season you know it is going to happen.
When both are fit, FPL success this season will come down to nailing KUN or IBRA (C) choice and making the most of your 75.5M budget to fill the rest of your squad.

The cool thing about KUN/IRBA rotation is that their home and away fixtures always align perfectly.

True. Zaha's best season was 4 goals and 2 assists. I don't see the upside there.
Ramirez had 7 goals + 1 assist in 1300 minutes last year. Granted it wasn't PL, however he hasn't played a full 2000+ minute season since 2011/12 (8g, 4a)

Not that hard to understand, is it? Went with Aguero, and felt defence or midfield was bleeding from a too expensive striker line.

I went for him, and balanced it out with a dead cheap defence and Redond as my 4th mid. But I could just as well did it the other way around.
