Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Southampton

The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

Word of advice non ibra owners. Downgrading Tadic to get him will burn you from watching this game. Would not be surprised if he scores or assists GW3 and redmond is dropped

Don't understand why you would want to drop tadic, he's in such good positions and could've easily had a goal and assist.

Austin and Jrod won't be benched forever. Good depth of players Southampton have. Both 15 to 20 goal players as proven

Which mid do I get in to accomodate Ibracadabra?

    Vardy + Alli > Ibra + 8.0

Or Vardy Gray Alli > Ibra Tekkers Lamela

was all set to go Tadic > Redmondo before the price rise but I'm wavering... I feel Austin too good a player not to be challenging Red.

The only logical reason to prefer Rooney + 2.5m over Ibra is if it's 2.5m cash in hand!

Who would you rather have as a midfield 4?
    A) Hazard, TADIC, LAMELA, Townsend
    B) Hazard, FIRMINO, REDMOND, Townsend
    C) Hazard, FIRMINO, GASTON, Townsend (+0.5ITB)

I have Haz, Firm, Tadic, Townsend atm. I need to downgrade by 1.5 in one transfer to get Ibra without a hit. Don't want a 5.0 as 4th mid, so Townsend stays for now (at least his fixtures are good).

        1. Qubit

Looks like B it is then! Obviously they all have issues, but then the main upside is Ibra. Im in a similar position, but have to choose between Alli to Lamela or Tadic.
