Next up this Friday, we roll out our usual pre-Gameweek members article offering insight on the Gameweek captain conundrum. As always, we highlight the main candidates on offer, analysing the Opta numbers and checking up on the Rate My Team ratings before offering up a couple of differential options in light of the data analysis.

Captain Poll

After just two weeks of the 2016/17 season, the captain poll is taking up a familiar pattern.

Yet again, Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the key protagonists after bagging a brace apiece last time out.

Aguero takes top spot for the third successive Gameweek as City prepare to entertain West Ham at the Etihad on Sunday.

Over 40% of voters are backing the Argentine – who scored twice in his last appearance against the Hammers – to do the business again.

It seems that Ibrahimovic still has some convincing to do. Despite being neck and neck with Aguero on 22 points apiece, he’s convinced only 27% to hand over the armband as United make their way to promoted Hull on Saturday evening.

Similar to last week, third place goes to Eden Hazard. The Chelsea wide man seems rejuvenated under the guidance of Antonio Conte and has picked up points in both the opening Gameweeks ahead of a plum home encounter against Burnley.

That trio take up the bulk of the votes, with Diego Costa and Harry Kane – with 2% backing – the next most popular picks.

Similarly, with few Fantasy managers willing to look beyond the top three, this leaves the likes of Dusan Tadic, Riyad Mahrez and Palace new boy Christian Benteke (all 1% selected) shaping up to be big differential picks as the trio prepare for home comforts. Benteke is uncertain to start against Bournemouth, though, judging by Alan Pardew’s comments earlier today.

    Have 2FTs.

    Firmino out for:

    A. Barkley
    B. Mirallas

Not keen on dropping Firmino but EVE fixtures seem to good to pass by.

Can't make my mind up on which defender to pick

    A) Williams/Funes Mori: Not nailed on but at 5.0 are great value
    B) Baines: Nailed on and if Koeman persists with 352, he could get back to that attacking form
    C) Walker: Tottenham have a better defence but not as good fixtures.

Think I'm going to go with Williams. Even if he doesn't start this week, surely he'll start after the international break.

I don't know how to read this odds and at this point I'm afraid to ask

      1. Jay_
        9 years, 11 months ago

The ones on the left are decimals, the ones on the right are fractions, both the same odds but set out differently. Decimals are easier to read, they always show what you would get back as a return for 1 pound/Euro/dollar etc, including the 1 pound you originally betted.

So for instance, £1 on Aguero to score anytime would return £1.44 or £1 on West Ham to keep a clean sheet would return £11

Well after good advice i received earlier today, i held off from wildcarding, and rightly so, i had a stern telling off from the lads on here haha!

That said, team all set for this GW, good to go?

    Forster
    Stones - Valencia - Jagielka
    Capoue - Hazard - Tadic - Barkley
    Gray - Aguero (c) - Ibra (v)

I'm just not convinced with him so far. I feel like Everton will struggle with getting clean sheets and alot of the assists seem to come from the middle instead of out wide. Early days but i need points now which is why i'm worried.

I'm hoping lukaku will provide an aerial threat so baines can get assists but we all know what lukaku is like

Bojan or Lamela... probably Bojan. He scored on a pen, but Stoke don't exactly score a ton of goals. In defense, you should be looking at Shaw, Valencia, Stones, Williams, Walker, van Anholt....

No. Get in a 4.0 defender. Or Amat. Downgrade bojan to a 4.5 or capoue. Will be tough to free up that cash later.

Both Jakupovic(Cardiff's Marshall bid accepted) and Pickford(Moyes looking for a keeper) might not play at all soon. Better to get another 0.5 or 0.6 from somewhere to get either Heaton or Foster.

I don't disagree, but I would have prioritized getting Alli out. Tadic hasn't scored, but he looked like he could. Alli just looked like a shadow of himself.

Don't take a hit. If you want to take a hit, do it next week and transfer out Firminio and Alli. That way you will have more flexibility to pick their replacements.

I'd say take them out slowly. The players i'd remove would be alli and firminio and get a 5.5m defender or higher. I recommend Shaw

Hello all! Been a bit busy the past few days with preseason footy, but sadly that looks to have been cut short. That knee injury I got a month ago returned today, so that all but ends this upcoming season for me.

Which of course means all that free time is dedicated to endless hours on FFS. 😉 Got a question for you guys, I figure it's been discussed a lot. Aguero(c) or Ibra(c)? Even before the season started Ibra(c) seemed nailed on, but in my eyes WHM look shaky at the back and Hull seem to be overachieving...

How many members do we have in our little club? 😉

All the facts seem to add up to an Aguero(c). Think he's a differential this week or is that the general consensus? (I know the FFS captaincy poll doesn't always reflect reality)

ACL tear for me just over a year ago. Haven't kicked a ball since. But bright side of it is I'm in the best shape of my life training to get back at it. Knee injuries are horrible. Likely going to give it another go at the 1.5 year mark...
