A second Friday kick-off of the season and a huge cauldron of a fixture.

When Chelsea meet Liverpool at the Bridge, things are rarely dull. We can normally bank on goals aplenty and for Diego Costa to find a way to court controversy.

Being fair, he’s managed to achieve that every match so far, though he’s also managed to notch either a goal or an assist in each of his four starts – making it easy to forgive his little indiscretions. For now.

Antonio Conte will be looking for more of the same as he puts out a Chelsea line-up that includes a second debut for David Luiz. He steps into the back four with John Terry nursing an ankle injury.

Liverpool are forced into a change of their own – the late revelation that Roberto Firmino would miss out with a “minor” groin injury opens the way for his compatriot Philippe Coutinho to make a return.

After watching tonight, my Kun route back in is sorted. Loads of value in midfield, see ya later Hazard.

Have Carzola. Cheap, pens, set plays. Points per £. Lots of good value mids.

i though about this just didn t think that waiting from 2 watford players to score for me (cap deeney would be proper..)

My current team : (0.4 ITB)
    Cech / Pickford
    Evans / Valencia / Amat / Holebas / Williams
    Hazard / Cazorla / Özil / Capoue / Antonio
    Benteke / Lukaku / Ibra

Want to bring in Baines for Williams before price rise tonight and need to transfer out either Özil or Hazard for Firminho for that extra 0.1

Tempted to get rid of Hazard for Firminho

But my gut is telling me its more sensible to do Özil > Firminho instead since I already own Cazorla and wait one more week to see how Hazard perform.

    Thoughts?

    1. Clump
      10 years, 1 month ago

Baines to Williams is sideways. Pens in Baines favour, expect Williams to take baps on clean sheet days.

      1. Just Been On Loan
        10 years, 1 month ago

So what happened last week with those baps going to Baines?

        1. Clump
          10 years, 1 month ago

Sure Baines is a good pick. Would I go sideways? No.
Williams is a value long term pick who loves a bonus point or two.

          1. Just Been On Loan
            10 years, 1 month ago

Agreed it's very sideways and I wouldn't use a FT on it, but with Everton's fixtures, I can see Baines racking up the bonus points over the next few weeks.

            1. Clump
              10 years, 1 month ago

I ll stick my neck out and say Everton will be top 3 by the end of November.
              I support Liverpool too.

      2. El Cube
        10 years, 1 month ago

I know it doesnt make much sense doing Williams to Baines. But its for entire season plan. Later when I get rid of Lukaku once Everton good fixtures run out, I would at least have Baines as Everton coverage.

Plus Im opting for two 4.5 MF (Capoue as my 4th MF) to accomodate Agüero / Ibra / Lukaku (Later might be either Costa/Vardy) upfront.

Having two DF with high attacking return (Valencia & Baines) always playing is a viable strategy, no?

        1. Clump
          10 years, 1 month ago

Sounds good. Just can't get my head around Williams to Baines.
I might be biased, I love Williams after my pilgrimage to France this summer 🙂

          1. El Cube
            10 years, 1 month ago

So, who do you think I should transfer out for Firminho this week? Hazard or Özil?

  4. Your Mum's Athletic

    Snodgrass or Bolasie?

    Will have Lukaku

    1. Just Been On Loan

      Bolasie, no brainer.

    2. Clump
      10 years, 1 month ago

Like both picks. Evertons fixtures though!!
They'll do very well this year.

    3. Your Mum's Athletic
      10 years, 1 month ago

      cheers both, leaning towards bolasie

      1. Just Been On Loan
        10 years, 1 month ago

Due to budget reasons, I'll likely be bringing in Snod this week (and playing Capoue) as he looks good value for a couple of weeks time. With those fixtures though, difficult to look past Bolasie

        Wish I could afford him!

      2. Clump
        10 years, 1 month ago

I like the Luka / Everton defender combo. Loads of choice in the middle.
        Could be wrong, often am.

    4. Ibracadabra
      10 years, 1 month ago

Snodgrass for me, on penalties, direct free kicks, while Bolasie has lots of competition for places - Delaf, Mirallas, etc. and has a pretty poor goalscoring record. You are counting on assists from him only. Snodgrass a bit more of a proven scorer in the top flight, and a bit cheaper.

  6. SAY SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT
    10 years, 1 month ago

    Thoughts on this WC team:

    Heaton/Robinson

    Kosc/Shaw/Williams/Holebas/McAuley

    Ozil/Mane/Antonio/Bolasie/Capoue

    Aguero/Lukaku/Deeney

    0.0 itb.

It is worth downgrading Ozil to Cazorla and spending the funds elsewhere or is my midfield too weak already?

    1. Just Been On Loan
      10 years, 1 month ago

Looks good. Wouldn't downgrade Ozil, think you've got the right balance.

If on WC, not tempted to try and catch some price rises?

      1. SAY SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT
        10 years, 1 month ago

My team's in an awful mess atm after a ropey GW4, just want to concentrate on getting a WC team that I'm happy with tbh.

    2. El Cube
      10 years, 1 month ago

OK GK (I would pick Pickford instead for better GK rotation option)
      Strong DF
      Strong MF
Good FW (double up on Watford a bit too much for me)

I would. Cazorla on Pens, some direct & indirect freekick and corner too. Whats not to like?

      1. SAY SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT
        10 years, 1 month ago

Pickford would give me a safety net if Burnley start conceding too many, aiming to take advantage of Heaton saves, but no use if they're conceding 3 or 4 a game.

Not sure what I'd do if I got Santi in, 1.9m is a nice amount to spend though...

        1. El Cube
          10 years, 1 month ago

I personally would do this :
          Özil > Cazorla
          Mane > Firmino
Use that extra 2.4 to upgrade Deeney/Capoue

          1. SAY SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT
            10 years, 1 month ago

            Cheers, I'll have a think.

    Foster
    Valencia, Evans, Walker
    Lamela, Hazard, Redmond, Sanchez
    Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Rondon

Well you wouldn't obviously just in case he drops. But my point was, who in their right mind that currently owns him is now selling just as his ban has ended?!

People buying him now, although premature, are not doing anything stupid.

            1. Pasqualinho
              10 years, 1 month ago

There's no benefit to buying him now - if there's a postponement or abandonment then he remains banned for the weekend. I know it's completely unlikely to happen but nevertheless, buying him now is pointless.
