West Ham’s dire form shows no sign of abating, as Southampton march into the London Stadium and take three points, with Charlie Austin amongst the goals once again. Here’s the Stock Check from Sunday’s encounter….

On the Rise

Charlie Austin
Having scored four goals in the previous three across all competitions, the Saints striker was granted a second Premier League start of the season by Claude Puel. Austin vindicated that decision with the opener and also supplied the assist for Dusan Tadic’s goal; he is clearly in the midst of a hot streak right now.

With Leicester City, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next six, though, the fixtures are hardly in his favour.

Dusan Tadic
After a slow start to the season, the Serbian continues to build momentum. Tadic opened the campaign with a trio of blanks but has since served up points in each of the subsequent three. Assists against Arsenal and Swansea City were followed up with an ice-cool finish against the Hammers as the Saints chalked up a fourth straight win in all competitions.

Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares
It’s back-to-back clean sheets for the Saints in the Premier League after keeping out Swansea City last weekend. Ryan Bertrand earned his first attacking points of the season with an assist for Austin’s goal, while Cedric Soares mirrored his fellow full-back for bonus with two apiece.

The duo have now served up 18 and 17 points respectively in the last couple of Gameweeks as Puel’s approach finally takes hold.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Much was expected of the Hammers today, from what was the first of four home matches in six. While Michail Antonio’s kinder price may persuade some to hold ahead of visits from Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Sunderland, the premium priced Payet may well be seen as surplus to requirements. Yet to score in the league so far, he has been subject to more transfers out than any midfielder this term and that trend may well continue in light of today’s uninspiring display.

Michail Antonio
Antonio’s stock also takes a dent following the tactical tweaks from Slaven Bilic. With the Hammers chasing the game, Bilic replaced Håvard Nordtveit with striker Ashley Fletcher on 71 minutes. Antonio was then shifted to become an attacking right-back – a move which could become familiar should West Ham find themselves in a similar scenario again. Given their form, that seems likely.

James Collins
The Welshman’s run in West Ham’s first XI came to an end after he dropped out of the squad today. Having started each of the first five, Collins – who rose to 9% ownership in FPL – was clearly earmarked as the fall guy, with Winston Reid returning to partner Angelo Ogbonna at centre-half. Today’s capitulation may well force another rethink, though – the Hammers have now shipped 14 goals in the last four.

What's the better attack to double up on Liverpool or city? Already have Aguero and firmino.

    A) sterling

    B) mane

Currently thinking Liverpool as have great fixtures and no Europe.

City have decent fixtures but no kdb for a while and some tough European games that could result in early dubs/ rotation.

If this is a wildcard perhaps try to find 0.5 to get Mane instead of Firmino.

You can do this by downgrading Lovren, as you can start Holebas over Watford's good run. Liverpool haven't kept a CS so far.

Jaku can also be downgraded to any 4m keeper to save 0.2.

If you don't like this idea, use the 0.2m from Jaku downgrade to get Cedric instead of Lovren, or Kosceilney instead of Walker

    Is sterling/Antonio + Ibra -> Sanchez + 9m striker worth a -4?

Feels crazy taking a hit to get rid of two in form strikers before good home fixtures, but also feels crazy going without Sanchez...

I don't like double ups in defence unless it's a top 4 team playing someone awful. Especially this season when clean sheets are so hard to call.

I'd play B and C from your options with Pickford and Valencia... so same back 4 as me next week 😉

Is Sterling -> Walcott acceptable as a punt for the next few (on a free)?

Why would you lose Sterling now?

No KDB and I need Sanchez for me

Fixtures aren't great (arsenal's are amazing), they have just lost there best creative player, and I already have Kun (but no arsenal players)

Sterling has been a revelation under Pep so would be reluctant to lose him. But not having any Arsenal players is a weakness alright. You can't get Sanchez? I would worry Walcott might be rotated - Sanchez won't be

Want Sanchez but would mean losing Ibra/rom and taking a hit, not sure I can do that with the fixtures they have

I got Sterling last week on WC for price rise and kept. Should of just got Sanchez then rather than waiting till after Chelsea. He was always a target

Is Cedric still going to be starting when Pied is back?

Thanks. Considering downgrading a 5.5 def to 5.0.

Bit of a benching dilemma on my hands lads, would love some thoughts:

    Foster (Jakupovic)
    Valencia Lovren McAuley (Stones, Amat)
    Sanchez(c) Firmino Sterling Antonio (Capoue)
    Aguero(vc) Lukaku Rashford

I really don't want to bench Capoue vs BOU, however I can't see myself benching anyone else unless I use an AOA, but McAuley(SUN), Lovren(SWA), and Valencia(STK) have good fixtures too. What should I do?

Bench Capoue imo. Or could play AOA and bench McAuley since you have Foster and could play it safe

Worth using the AOA to bench McAuley? I still can't tell when that stupid chip will be useful.

True, I'd honestly bench Capoue. See how he does tomorrow first of all tbh

I'd bench Capoue - AOA could be more useful facing extreme difficult def fixtures or injury crisis in defence.

Sure - you got double WBA, but that's still a good fixture for a CS.

Looks like Aguero(c) will be a differential on here come the weekend.

Plenty going for Ibra and Sanchez.

Against one of the best defence in the league and no KDB. No thanks

He"s smashed Spurs in the past.

I know it's a different team now but that"s got to have some psychological effect.

Finally lost patience with west ham defence

    Adrian to:
    A) Boruc 4.5m
    B) Pickford 4.0m
    C) other

    Alresdy own Heaton

    First to 3....

    What would be worse?

    A) An ex-girlfriend hacks your FPL account and replaces your whole team with injured players for a 60 point hit

    B) The above situition not mattering because you're the kind of guy that operates with two teams

Bobby Firmino with 5 chances created....

One backpass from the halfway line, three passes to Coutinho(probably) for his optimistic long range shots, one meaningful cross.

How was that back pass from the halfway line a chance created? Did someone shoot from there or something 😆

Everyone at Liverpool has good stats atm. I finally caved in and doubled up. Fingers crossed that they don't muck it up against the easy teams.
