A typically disciplined Burnley performance nullifies Watford’s recent attacking verve and earns a precious three points at Turf Moor. Here’s the Stock Check after Monday brought the curtain down on Gameweek 6.

On the Rise

Tom Heaton
A second clean sheet of the season promoted Heaton back to the top of the FPL keeper rankings on 27 points.

Priced at 4.6, Heaton goes on confirming his value in well-drilled Burnley defence that, at Turf Moor at least, should go on generating shut-outs.

Michael Keane
Arriving in the Premier League with a reputation as a threat from set-pieces, tonight Keane delivered his first Premier League strike.

Five goals during Burnley’s promotion season flagged up his goal threat and saw him claim a 5.0 initial price in the FPL. While that has since fallen to 4.9, we’ll need to see more from Keane to warrant that outlay with Heaton an option in goal.

Steven Defour
If we ever go knocking for a Burnley midfield with 6.0 to spend then Defour will be our go-to option.

Clearly a class act, the Belgian has registered three assists a goal and six bonus points in his Burnley tenure so far. He is, however, still to complete 90 minutes.

In Decline

Jose Holebas
We were grateful to see him fit to claim his starting role at left wing-back but this was not an enjoyable evening for the Greek.

Pinned back in the first-half by a determined Clarets, Holebas was forced into a traditional left-back role with Walter Mazzarri’s tactical changes as the Hornets chased the game.

More significantly, he earned a fourth booking of the season and is now just a single yellow away from a one-match suspension. After suffering defeat in the EFL Cup, they also don’t have the option of allowing him to absorb any suspension outside of Premier League action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Man City have a really nice run of fixtures after the Spurs game and I reckon it's only a matter of time before they start stringing a few clean sheets together. My prediction for the player everyone will want in a few weeks is...

    Kolarov

    Why?
    - Pep loves him. He's featured in every game so far and completed the full 90 in all but one
    - Clean sheets will come
    - He loves to shoot, has a great left foot and will get more than his share of attacking returns

Don't expect many wil agree due to City's lack of CS so far and his price tag but you read it here first!

I agree, Pep seems to love him and you'll get the occasional explosion of points.

Much more appealing than Stones of you can find the extra.

    What to do with this?

    Foster, Jaku
    Stones, Baines, Shaw, Friend, Amat
    Sanchez, Firmino, Barkley, Lanzini, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku, Deeney

    1 FT, 0.2 ITB

Thinking of using my WC during the int break(is that a good idea!?). With that in mind, which player should i bring in for a 1 GW punt?

I would replace Shaw and try to get 3 decent defenders out if Baines is ok. Try Cedric in that price range with nice fixture for one week punt.

Best move here, assuming Baines gets passed fit? I'm tempted with B the most given his recent form AND upcoming fixtures (bur/SWA/MID/sun).

    A) Save
    B) Santi -> Walcott
    C) Santi -> Lallana
    D) Santi -> Son

    Cech
    Baines, Valencia, Kone
    Sanchez, Antonio, Santi, Capoue
    Aguero, Ibra, Defoe

    Pickford, Barry, Collins, Amat
    Bank 0.0m, 1FT

Highest number of headed goals last season was 7 from Giroud.

Antonio currently has 5. Last season he only scored 6 headed goals and 8 goals total.

Has he hit the ceiling already?

Possibly but wouldn't read too much into it, last season when he broke into the side he had a consistent run of about 10 games where he scored well.

He slowed down when he got moved to RB so if he gets moved again, that's the time to sell.

It's quiet in the DZ right now so hope ye don't mind a repost. Decent rank too so am I really risking it with hits. Been thinking about this for awhile so not as knee jerk as it would appear.

    Seriously considering
-4 this week for Antonio > Walcott
    And another -4 next week
For Capoue > Lalanna and Valencia > to 5.0
Note 352 so I want mids as strong as possible would give this

    Heaton Jaku
    Bellerin Coleman Lovern? Evans Amat
    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Lallana Sterling
    Kun Rashford Diomande.

Looking to gw7 anyone thinking that man city may loose to tottenham? Man city havent beaten tottenham since early 2015 and will be without KDB. What about arsenal v burnley? Burnley havent conceded more than 1 goal at home in a game in any of the competitions this year even looking back at the championship earlier this year. They have played liverpool and tottenham at home (liverpool lost 2-0 and tottenham drew 1-1) Last time arsenal played burnley Arsenal won 2-1 but at emirates.

City are going to win and the scorer is going to be Aguero. Dont throw him out cause his price might increase during the week. I am taking a punt on Sanchez for GW7 Captaincy.

in 6 GWs, Burnley have scored 5 times in total. Hence I would not look at any burnley player from the Attacking point of view. If you want to bring in a defender, you would purely think from the CS point but its against Arsenal and they have been a riot lately. I don't think Burnley can hold Sanchez that well.

Im taking a punt and bringing in arsenal players next week. Burnley are a very good team at home and even though Arsenal kept a clean sheet last week at home their defence has conceded every other week. Also even though Arsenal are running riot they beat liverpool 2-0 after Liverpool had put 4 goals on arsenal the previous week. Watford have also been running riot with goals yet watford just lost 2-0 to them. Aguero is good but he wont score every week and tottenhams defence is one of the best in the league. I know aguero has scored many goals against tottenham but not since early 2015 was the last one he scored against them and de bruyne featured in that match.

        1. big_cliff
          • 10 Years

Some good points mate. I agree, Burney do look a different beast at home, defensively at least. But I wouldn't say Arsenal were running riot until GW5.

I feel Aguero this season could be like Suarez in his final season. Pep already has City looking like a Guardiola team and then it doesn't matter who they play, they will score goals and I bet Aguero will be involved in a lot of those. I'm not saying Ibra couldn't score more than him this gameweek (I'd be very happy if he did, I have both of them) but i err on the side of caution (saving a FT over a one-week punt) and that's what I recommend.

But high risk, high reward my friend

I already have Antonio and Sterling. And Sterling is playing against Spurs this week and I really dont want to have 2 City players playing against a tough team. Wanted to take a punt for a week with Lallana hence.

        1. big_cliff
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

Ah. How much of value do you have in Sterling? Say you bought him at 8.0 or 8.1, you'd be losing a fair bit of value by selling him just for a one -week punt. City's fixtures after this one are still good and they're a team in insatiable form so fixtures, personally, don't apply.

            • 10 Years

That being said, if you see no other holes in your team that need fixing and don't want to save a FT, and it's your gut telling you to do it, go with it, my friend

got him at 8.3, I know I wont be able to take him once I kick him out. The only worry is the fact that Liv have players scoring from all around their MF. And to capitalize that, I wanted to bring in 2 key players. I do agree with you on that but for some strange reason, I know Lallana is going to be a great pick for next week.

    Ibra, kun, gray

Milner can get random assist with very talented attacking Pool team around him, plus their movement in the box is creating many pen opportunities. Pen is an easy goal, but obviously bit of a risky pick that could pay off.

Not a bad option, but I think Mane, Firmino and Lallana have greater goal threat. Whichever you pick, you risk one of the others having greater involvement in any one game. Their midfield has several good options but points are going to be shared.

Could do Firmino Costa to Lallana Ibra for a hit. Worth it?

I try and stay away from hits as much as possible.

Firm + Costa(hul) could outscore Lallana+Ibra this week. Too hard to call. I wouldn't take the hit personally

I'd do it, getting terrified of going Ibraless this GW. Also a well timed hit makes it all much more interesting IMO

    Foster Jaku
    Evans Stones Shaw Amat Pieters
    Antonio Sterling Capoue Firmino Redmond
    Aguero Lukaku Ibra

Was disappointed that Antonio, Ibra, Lukaku and Firmino failed to deliver in the last GW. I have 1 FT now, 0.0 ITB, what should I do?
WC still available, might use it during the upcoming international break to bring in Sanchez and change the whole team structure.

And when he posts the same next week...he will get..save transfer and reassess.

I say make the moves and go with your gut. Reassessing is for sheep!

As opposed to what jumping on the latest bandwagon? Haha. Mate I think you need to think about you're definition of sheep. Patience is the key to this game. All his attackers have good fixtures and could do very well

I would be very surprised if Sterling is in rotation especially with KDB out and his current form

too bad for KDB but Sterling certainly bit more nailed on now with Silva taking up that spot I would image. Good for Sterling owners, I suppose, cause loss of KDB partnership not great either lol

so it seem consensus i have to sqeeze 0.7 out to fund those two...

        any suggestion? current team below

        Cech Pickford

        Clyne Bellerin Holebas Smith Amat

        Firmino Sterling Antonio Sanchez Capoue

        Aguero Deeney Rashford

Option: Downgrade bellerin to kos and capoue? or firmino to cout and find a little more?

or keep payet snod for stering antonio!

        thanks!

You only have 3 different players to me out of 15. How did you manage to get Costa up front budget wise I mean. Nice looks good.
Baines injury and I would consider Evans over Holebas in know it's home against away but Watford really were a mess yesterdayz

So I have no more FT and no arsenal cover. Would you:

    1 sterling to Sanchez
    2 Capoue to walcot
3 don't take a hit, arsenal are away against the the heaton machine

In the same boat and considering 2.

      3 is more sensible, however.

Just bare in mind Burnley have not conceeded more than 1 goal in a game at home this year in any form of competition - They also beat liverpool and Watford at home who were goal rampaging at the time

I can also bring Sanchez for Antonio but that sounds like a bad idea because Antonio has three great fixtures

I'm gonna wait on Antonio. I just can't take him out before this week's fixture.

Will find funds elsewhere, perhaps Baines who may not play and has City after that..

How would you use this 1 FT?

    Pickford Jakupovic
    Walker Coleman McAuley Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Sterling Firmino Antonio Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Deeney

    FT: 1, ITB: 0.2

All looks good. Keeper situation could get tricky real quick but you can't address that with .2. I would hold transfer with that team.

You're thinking about Jaku not being nailed, right?

I can solve it, but I need 2 FTs to avoid a hit.

Hold Jaku one more week and reassess next week with 2FTs, or take a hit to sort it this week?

Thoughts on who to play next week?

    A) Holebas (BOU)
    B) Walker (MCI)

With Walker surely I'd only be relying on attacking returns..

Likely that aguero might score though he has scored alot of goals against tottenham including a 4 bag haul 2 years ago

Aguero's hauls against Spurs were in home games.

I can't see Spurs keeping a clean here but neither will they ship a lot of goals at home.
