As we approached the new season, hopes were high that Dimitri Payet could prove irresistible for our five-man midfields in 2016/17.

Restricted to just 26 minutes over the first three Gameweeks due to injury, Payet has been sold by a massive 589,000+ so far – only Eden Hazard and Riyad Mahrez have been subject to more sales in the centre of the park.

Since returning to the West Ham first XI in Gameweek 4, though, Payet has been quick to rediscover his Fantasy form.

Impressively, the Frenchman has played a part in all five of his side’s goals over that period. Payet provided two assists against both Watford and West Brom before serving up a stunning solo effort at home to Middlesbrough last time out.

With 30 points accrued in his four starts, then, this latest article for members casts an eye over Payet’s recent displays, assessing them against last season’s numbers before checking out the stats over the last four Gameweeks relative to other midfielders.

    Hey all. 2FT 0.1m

    Foster Pickford
    Baines Lovren Smith Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Firmino Sterling Antonio Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Deeney

    Baines > Pieters
    Baines > Robertson
    Antonio > Son
    Antonio > Snodgrass

Thoughts? Baines needs to go I think. Thanks!

Baines is on his way back it seems, depends how much you trust the Everton defence. Personally I'd be doing Capoue to a real 5th mid (4.4) and Baines > Arsenal / Spurs defender

it still amuses me that people think these flights have a negative impact on player form. yeah these multi-millionaires that have to utilize luxury/privtte travel where they can just sleep or get waited on really lose form as a result of being in the air..

    1. Pariße
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 10 months ago

Not form, but longer journeys certainly have an impact on fatigue. No matter how luxurious the plane, you'll probably be tired once you're back on the ground.

“Sometimes the matter of travelling – resting, the schedule changes, doesn’t help. But I’m pretty good. I wanted to play against Peru, to be available, and I endured everything I could."

It not about being in the air, more about adjustment to time zones.

I don't think travelling same distance North-South or East-West makes too much difference. What happens after, maybe, but the flight is more tiresome by itself than the adjustment imo.

    Pickford (Jaku)
    Walker, Holebas, Coleman (Amat, Kingsley)
    Sanchez, Firmino, Sterling, Antonio (Capoue)
    Kun, Lukaku, Deeney

    2FT's - 0ITB.

Jaku > Cech, Lukaku > Callum Wilson (prefer to Austin with Bournemouth's fixtures), Antonio > Son...then GW9 Capoue > Snodgrass making 3-5-2 a viable option over next 7 weeks with Hull's great run of fixtures.

    Any comments much appreciated, thanks.

The Wilson / Snoddy rotation looks really tempting for next 6/7 that's all and the Kaku money allows both the Arsenal defensive cover i really want (can see a few cleanies coming up for sure) and also allows the introduction of Son appears on fire....mmm?

Could've had a hat-trick if he didn't miss the open net 🙁 Came in to the match with a bad flu. Got tackled hard early on, then landed awkwardly on his ankle, off to the sidelines on a cart. Comes back on, fights through it, scores a brace, & then gets stretchered off due to the same ankle problem.

God damn legend, scores our last 5 goals as well. What a warrior.

Not sure on the rules around team numbers or £s
You could get walcott over Sanchez and do a lot with the money given the sanchez rotation. But having both maybe better still.
Unless we hear of a rest i think Aguero is essential

Fair enough, will have a think and decide soon enough.

      Capoo is the first priority.

isn't Watford has some nice fixtures ahead?

Hard to argue that walcott, who also has good fixtures, is not a significant upgrade.

Watford have nice fixtures. Capoue unlikely to score though.

Chile - Peru finished at 2-1. I never watch these games, glad I did 🙂

Best & more hard fought WCQ's by far, imo.

Where do we think Antonio will be playing? Same position?

I'm wondering if it's time to ship him.

    What are owners here doing?

I'm considering using one of my FTs to move to Sanchez or Son.

        Would you hold?

I have Sanchez Antonio Son Firmino Capoue. No plans to change midfield next few weeks. Does that help?

Swap Son for Sterling and that's my midfield. A little.

        Foster Jaku
        Baines Lovren Smith Holebas Amat
        Sanchez Antonio Sterling Firmino Capoue
        Aguero Lukaku Deeney

Thing is I have 2FT. I'll ship Baines out, but sounds like you think I should maybe hold the second FT
