Hands up, this ScoutCast is a bit scruffy.

Signed off work and delirious with man flu, we had to coax Granville to keep him from his sick bed. Fortunately, the fact he had a decent Gameweek helped persuade him.

However, he did insist on an early kick-off, with no pre-match warm-up. So Jonty and I were ill-prepared and it also meant that, head frazzled by a Lemsip overdose, Granville forgot to lock his children in the cupboard before we started.

Imagine the horror when they wandered in to hear Granville gloating about Yannick Bolasie.

Of course, you don’t have to imagine – you can join Jonty and myself as we risk contracting Granville’s affliction in order to talk about Fantasy Football for an hour.

Steered by another round of community questions, we also dip into Stoke assets, the captaincy, attacking defenders and, inevitably, with his transfers out stats climbing quicker than Granville’s temperature, we discuss Aguero’s fading star.

If you can bear to brave the chaos of this latest germ-ridden episode, then you can view the Google Hangout version, first published on our YouTube channel, in the second player below.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for news on future live episodes.

You can restrict your sensory experience of Granville’s cold to just audio by clicking here or streaming using the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 8 RESULTS

Sorry, delays are due to the fact that I have two professional exams on Monday. Unfortunately learning CIMA because you work for an accountancy firm when you work within Technology / Cyber Risk (Information Security) destroys your evenings...

That said, I've banned myself from the final episode of Black Mirror UNTIL GW9 is released. So expect it very early tomorrow morning...!

    ***** GAMEWEEK RESULTS *****

    Scores on the doors;

    1st - MB10 (72pts) [3pts]
    Top 4% - Eden Hazardous (61pts), AA33 (58pts) [2pts]
    Top 10% - Reedy (55pts), Tibbles (54pts), Van Klinkert Delarosa, Slippin' Jimmy (52pts), Dusan Citizen (51pts) [1pt]

with Skloppy Kops, Coldplay and Marian Kuna Guero all missing out on 49pts!

    However... FFS Scout seems to want to make me do a lot more work. Another low Picks & Differential week (44pts) means all the above mentioned gained bonus points, alongside;

    Tyrion Lannister, Lahi and Woo!

Kalmoffit & Jay... Sorry. 43 points didn't quite cut it!

    ***** THE STANDINGS *****

    Top of the league that bonus point has helped Marian Kuna Guero sneak in. The standings;

    1st - Too Many Tacos, Kalmoffit [7pts]
    3rd - IanP1970, Ziro, Marian Kuna Guero [6pts]

    Phew.

the Wenger bit about saying he should be fine for Tues says to me he's taking no chances.

...why would he take chances vs Sunderland? We all know Walcott's injury record. And besides, Sunderland is the worst team in the league.

So a bit of a boring move. Collins -> BainesV2.0 (Holebas)

                            Leaves me with this lot.

                            Pickford
                            Valencia Pieters Holebas

                            Heaton Evans Hojbjerg Amat

Armband is on Sanchez but with the Cazorla doubts I may take a punt. Either Son or Lukaku if I don't go with Alexis.

Nice. Problem for me is I'm losing the 0.5m that I earmarked for a defensive upgrade.

Might have to downgrade Williams next week to raise funds for a Valencia upgrade.

Looking at your team, it would make sense to do a defence transfer next GW due to the poor fixtures.

I'd plan to do Williams to Francis(SUN).

I'm planning on holding Valencia but he can be upgraded in the next few GW's since the fixtures are a bit tough. But for now I'd just have the Williams move planned.

Love the Arnie diff btw. Can see a nice haul for you this GW from him.

          Probably
It goes both ways to be fair

If Kun gets a brace, expect the owners to dish it out
It's just he hasn't done anything recently so the other side have been more vocal

Discussing selling aguero is like discussing religion.
Walcott gets a little niggle and everyone wants to sell on auto pilot.
Seeing as he is undervalued by 2 or 3 mil id say he is more important to have than aguero

Yeah, nobody is essential and anybody can be brought back.
When a top explosive player is making a mockery of his price tag I'd think long and hard before selling to avoid one week out or a few tricky games

Most definitely. When to sell players is key. Personally I see no evidence atm that there is better uses of those funds than Walcott. His form and consistency look like maintaining.

Agreed. The Ox in particular for me really needs to sort out what kind of role he wants to play in our team, be it muscular centre mid or Antonio-type pacy battering ram winger or something else; I agree with Arsene that he's got quality but he's not young anymore and needs to be more than a nice guy around the camp. Has to find some consistency and make a place in the team his own, like Iwobi kind of did towards the end of last season.

Otherwise, he'll always be second fiddle to the "big" players.

              Haha cheers Mes!

I think it's gotta be seen as an opportunity for him to seize. It's a bit of an oddity that he's "in and around" both our and England's squad (also "our" for me but didn't want to confuse hehe) but never seems to have a consistent season to back up the undoubted promise. If there's a place for young players to break through, it is under Arsene. I really want him to do it, otherwise he'll surface next year at Bournemouth or something wondering what went wrong... 🙂

I'd never do it with my main team, but if I could be bothered to run an FPL team aiming for max pts for the week (bit like the scout picks) I'd be tempted to put him into that

Plan is to hold thru MID, but will be keen to see his positioning this weekend. 13M for him playing striker (even in this form) can still be justified, given his history. But as a midfielder, absolutely not worth it.

Losing Aguero is like joining AA. It's one week at a time. 😉

I think people who have sold him don't realize that unless it is a long term sell (7-8 games at least), it is not really worth the hassle. You are not really guaranteed to be gaining a massive advantage in 2-3 weeks, you are wasting transfers that could be used elsewhere or you may distribute funds elsewhere, then take a hit to get him back, which reduces the overall effect/advantage of taking him out in the first place.

I'll just pass over most of that. But just one thing...

Aguero is the most expensive and important player in anyone's squad. If FTs aren't to be used to deal with concerns about a player like that, what are they to be used for?

I can't think of a better use of them myself.

              Whatever makes you happy.

Reasoning with you would have made more sense had you not made your transfer. You are now bound to defend your decision, no matter what, and that's a game I'm not interested in playing. Sorry.

Yeah and if Ibra chips in with a haul then its well worth it.
Could go the other way of course with Aguero scoring , but who knows, maybe he wont even start

I think you got him in for 12.9. Wouldn't be showing as such otherwise; if you got him at 13 (check the list view) you'd still have a 13.0 SP 🙂

Play Capoue, or Stones as the 4th defender?

That would make three Watford players -- Holebas, Capoue, Deeney

One good thing about having a poor rank is that I have absolutely no problems switching out Walcott for a hit... and welcoming long time favourite, first time 16/17 purchase Coutinho.

Yep. Probably switch lallana to him around then. I'd get Siggy this week if I could - but the only permutation involves also getting in Pieters who is against him. Long term good but don't really like to take hits to bring in two players facing each other. Siggy can wait.

Bookmarked Lukaku as my captain GW 10 a while ago given Westham's dire form and Lukaku's record against them but Westham now have 3 CSs in a row. Is it risky to captain Lukaku now? Would you captain Kun, Walcott or Firmino over him?

Also, what are the expectations for the Palace vs Liverpool match? Palace have been kind of a bogey team for Liverpool recently. Will Liverpool turn that page? Waiting for Bolivian Seaman's article to check what the fans are saying about that one. I might have Coutinho,Firmino and Milner for that game 🙂

I was considering Walcott until I saw these rumors of him being ill which throws me off a bit. I don't know if it is the flu or what. He could play and be taken off after 60 mins if he is recovering from illness.

Yea things change - now WHU will have 2-3 CBs sitting on Lukaku! Still a good option but would have to adjust according to tactics and form.

Liverpool look unstoppable at the moment. Very tempted to double but the only way I can do it is @ the expense of Walcott.

I have Firmino and Milner and thinking of getting Coutinho for Sterling. All eggs in 1 basket I know but I can ditch Firmino in the near future. Coutinho is the prime Liverpool asset to have imo.
