Rarely do we stumble upon a sure-thing in Fantasy Football. However, the potential profit offered by Liverpool’s midfield assets over their forthcoming run of fixtures gets pretty close.

The Reds manage to avoid all the sides currently residing in the top eight in the Premier League, right up until the Merseyside Derby on the December 19.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they will have the chance to fill their boots against three of the sides currently situated in the bottom six – Middlesborough, Sunderland and West Ham United.

The question facing Fantasy managers isn’t whether they should have a Liverpool player in their squad, it’s simply a question of who.

For 36.9% of FPL managers, the answer has been Phillipe Coutinho and, with his recent performance in Gameweek 9 against West Bromwich Albion, he has been promoted in our thinking. Coutinho’s stock continues to rise.

But, given his ownership and the options elsewhere in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, is Coutinho really the stand out option?

In this latest article for members, we will analyse the Opta data to track Coutinho’s progress, attempting to assess whether, with so many strong midfielders on offer, he is truly a player that warrants such popularity.

    A)
    This GW Snoddy -> Allen
Next GW Son -> 8.0 or wait with 2FT after international games

    B)
This GW keep FT, play Fletcher
Next GW Son, Snoddy -> Redmond, Lallana/Tadic/Willian/Arnie (early transfers when price changes will not allow it)

    Good morning!

Still holding onto Walcott, can't decide whether to ditch.

Shaqiri/Chadli + Coutinho has to be better than Walcott (Capoue this week) + Antonio over next 3?

If I want Walcott back for the good fixtures then I have Firmino, Coutinho and Sterling to choose from to get rid. If Walcott does miss this week we could see a price drop too so might not be so much of a problem having to get him back in for a little more than I paid.

Glad to see that Coutinho didn't rise last night either way so can give myself another headache this morning while thinking about this 🙂

Additional thoughts....If I am going to play Capoue then maybe against Hull is the best time. Also One of Liverpool's next 3 is Southampton (a) which could be low scoring.

Reckon Walcott could cause the United defence some issues

The problem with ditching him is having to buy him back with a loss in TV. E.g. if Sanchez blanks today, I'll rather have Walcott going forward and swap the former for Kdb or Haz

Well I don't have Sanchez so that's not an issue 🙂

He's risen to 8.1, I got him at 7.7. If he does miss today and then falls in price by 0.1m then I'm only losing 0.1 (which I may make off Coutinho anyway)

The underlying stats are a real eye opener. You can do it manually in the members area or be lazy and get it fed to you through member articles. These statistics help you differentiate between fluke scores and deserved points. It also helps you to jump on the next bandwagon earlier

          1. ChristoBisto
            • 10 Years
            9 years, 4 months ago

I like this. And I guess you can also avoid the faux bandwagons when players are just getting lucky

    2. noquarternt
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

It's quite interesting, I'm not mad for stats but it is fun to play around with and can help inform decisions. Although anyone who does well on them will probably be mentioned here anyway. I'd pay it just to support the site.

3rd week's debate, need some help: Who to captain? Any opinions appreciated

    A) Aguero (His price and the fact that MCI tend to win away vs WBA are the main reasons. although his lack in confidence and his teams bad form are shouting "stay away"

    B) Alli (Spurs at home, Leicester away can see the home team scoring more than twice and Alli should be part of those goals)

    C) Deeney (A striker who seldom scores more than once but its Hull at home if not captaining now, when?)

    D) Payet (WHU have improved their gameplay and when they score, Payet is usually involved)

You have to get another guy who's playing. Snoddy is 100% out, so I'd focus on getting him to someone who's going to play. Moses/Stanislas? Or if there's a guy you like the look of then Theo -> him.

I wouldn't take a hit personally, probably the Snoddy -> Allen one as if you do the Walcott one, you'll be backed into a corner next week where you have to sort out Snodgrass, whereas Walcott in all likelihood will be back playing. Good luck though!

    Morning all,

Will I leave Walcott play or just play Allen? I fear a Walcott cameo if I do leave him in..

If he's injured, Wenger will not bring him on. They do cameos to gain fitness, not stress test injuries.

A Wally appearance off the bench is probably the most unlikely scenario. Risking a start but coming off early is a possibility, though. But the big favourite looks like a complete rest from the squad.
